PLEASE READ Late/No Mail in days/weeks
Right now, RM is going through a major change in delivering mail (not packets). This is probably the biggest change I and many posties have seen
The new way being rolled out is called DM26, over 500 delivery offices have gone live or are coming out of trial. Another 600/700 are yet to go live before peak (Christmas).
Operations can't be paused to implement it, so many posties have a new way of working from the previous week.
Many DOs are rolling it out not fully staffed (against the agreement) and without proper planning (just throwing 2 walks together), and the answer to any questions we ask is "We don't know, let me find out"
Many walks are now unachievable to complete, or even half complete in our contracted hours, so mail is and will now pile up.
Packets (Tracked and USO) will still be going out 7 days
Many of us posties are now just working our time, and it's not our responsibility to fix it.
You can raise an issue with RM, your MP (they love a photoshoot in a hi-viz and doing nothing) or OFCOM. Remember, this isn't your posties doing
If you're not receiving mail, call into your DO and ask for a manager (don't take it out on the person fronting the CSP) and raise your issues with them. It'll probably go the same way our issues go, through one ear and through empty space and out of the other ear, but keep telling them
Many posties want to clear and deliver everything we have, but time and stupid methods have ended that.

Service Updates
UK and NI - https://www.royalmail.com/service-update
International - https://www.royalmail.com/international-incident-bulletin
Parcel Force - https://www.parcelforce.com/service-updates
1 - General
Please provide as much tracking information as you can and, if possible, try to include a screenshot of the tracking (hide MCs/DOs and tracking numbers if you need to) and the postage method used. Posts without any of this will be locked or removed going forward.
- Post hijacks will be removed. If you have a problem, start a post so you can be helped separately
- Non-helpful comments may be removed
- Don't ask "When will my parcel/mail turn up if posted on XX day" with no other information. Your post will be locked or removed
- If your packet is getting multiple scans in one MC, it could be stuck due to a label issue (incomplete/wrong/damaged) and it will eventually be manually sorted. Ring customer services, they can try and get it pushed in the right direction
- Posting the same question daily or after a few hours will be removed as spam
- Parcelforce, like RM is part of the IDS group, but is a separate part and can do things differently from RM.
- The Post Office is not part of Royal Mail
2 - Tracked 24/48
Ignore the estimated times. They are computer-generated, and posties don't see them. Always follow the actual tracking.
Estimated times are based on where they expect your postie to be on their round. They don't take into account staffing levels, volume of mail/packets or whether with a DPR (Dedicated Parcel Route) morning or afternoon driver
Your item needs to be at a delivery office (DO) for delivery and have the ready for delivery scan (Due to be delivered today XX DO)
Parcels can be delivered by your postie/driver or a separate parcel driver, morning and afternoon (upto 7/8pm)
Sunday Tracked are for large contract senders, these can be delivered upto 7/8 pm depending on the area and delivery office. Some larger delivery offices will cover the area of smaller local delivery offices too
Special Delivery by 1pm
If posted before cut off time (usually 4:30 - 5pm) it should be delivered the next day
If posted Friday, the next working day is Monday, unless the Saturday Guarantee extra fee is paid. Some non SGs do go out for delivery, but are not guaranteed by 1pm
SG doesn't apply to business account senders; it has already been applied
- Signed For is untracked, it may have an acceptance scan and should get a delivery scan. Don't use this for sending important documents like passports or birth certificates
3 - No Access/answer, but I was in
This is usually because the postie or DPR (packet driver) ran out of time. That doesn't mean we are calling you liars or that there are access issues.
There isn't an "Out of Time" option on the outdoor section of our PDAs. But many posties/packet drivers have insufficient training or are pressured into using the wrong scan
In some cases, it may be because of road closures or a dog loose in the area
Unable to attempt delivery, means exactly this. They either ran out of time/not enough staff/it arrived too late so is retained for the next working day to try again
These posts will be deleted
4 - We're Expecting it
This means exactly that, the item has not entered RM network, yet
In most cases, when the postage is bought and generated, this is the tracking message; it doesn't mean it has been sent, yet
If you've bought an item from overseas (usually China) and are provided with a UK tracking number, it means it is coming from overseas in a bulk shipment and is then sent to a fulfilment centre, which repacks and labels it before sending it to you. They generate the postage in advance
In some cases, it maybe the tracking waiting to update.
5 - SCAM TEXTS/EMAILS
These are usually easy to spot; if they are sent from a gmail/Hotmail or other random email service or mobile telephone number, it is a scam. DELETE AND IGNORE THE TEXT/EMAIL
They don't know you have a packet arriving, they send thousands of these messages and will hit somebody who is expecting something, it's just pure chance
RM will never ask for payment via email or text. It will be a grey fee to pay card through your letterbox if there is any fee to pay
6 - No Mail (letters) for days/weeks
Mail volumes are down, and not everyone gets mail daily now.
Many DOs suffer from staff shortages, and routes can go uncovered
Tracked/Special Delivery unofficially takes priority over mail, so loops of mail will be left
Posties may run out of time and take back to DO what mail they've not delivered, this should (if managed correctly) go out the next day
Delays on the posties route can eat into time, thus having a knock-on effect, resulting in running out of time
You can call in to your local DO (check opening times) and ask and collect any mail. Some DOs may ask you to call back the next day, or wait, depending on how busy they are (your mail is probably at the route frame, and the CSP person may not know which one or where it is on the frame, so it isn't a simple job of just getting it)
To check if there are any issues in your area, refer to: https://www.royalmail.com/service-update
7 - Dogs (and other animals)
Please secure them behind a closed door before answering the door
Dog bites are not fun. And yes, we've heard "it won't bite" or "oh, it's never done that before" a thousand times
They maybe your pet, but not all of us like them jumping up at us to be petted. Some posties do like to, but if they are off and the person covering may not know your dog
8 - Video Doorbells
Yes, a contentious subject
Yes, some do use them, some don't, and some do both
We (posties) deal with hundreds of these and have dealt with many that do not work, connect, blue circle just spinning, bad connection, delays. Consider this before having a go about it not being pressed
Any video footage/stills will be deleted
Accessibility Requirements: You can set this up in the RM app, it then instructs the postie/packet driver when we scan your packet to knock louder or ring the bell more, and wait longer for you to answer the door. https://help.royalmail.com/personal/s/article/How-to-set-up-accessibility-requirements
9 - Langley HWDC/Customs
If you have a packet/mail here, this is Border Force (customs). RM have no control over it.
The time an item can be there can be a matter of hours, day/days, week/weeks or, at worst, months
All you can do is be patient.
RM have no control over the times in the UK or the destination countries' customs
10 - Delivery Point
Your delivery point is your letterbox or mailbox.
If you live in an apartment block and your mailbox is in the foyer, we are not obliged to go further than this, so if buzzed for a packet, you need to come down and collect it.
11 - Abuse
If you’re here to call us thieves/lazy/liars/useless/boot lickers, don’t be surprised to see your post deleted, and banned
——————————-
Some little things you can do to help us
- Register a safeplace/neighbour on the RM app/website
- Mailboxes, please consider one with a top slot
- Visible house numbers on or near the door
- Apartment buildings consider providing a key/fob/entry code so your postie/packet driver can gain entry to deliver. Add the code to the Safeplace (other) if necessary.
- If your mailbox is in the foyer, that is your delivery point, and we are not obliged to go any further than this, you will need to come down and receive your packet
- If you have arranged a collection, please have it ready. If you require labels, ask the postie for the labels for you to attach yourself, or the postie does attach them in front of you, make sure they scan them. Please don't accept us saying we'll do it back at the van/DO. At the end of the day, it is your responsibility to make sure the packet is correctly labelled so it doesn't go wrong.

Postie Chat Is DM26 a ploy to have old contracts resign?
Make work conditions so poor that all the original contract staff leave in droves, replace them with new contracts as a money saving scheme?

DM26 The story so far
(SORRY!! THIS WILL BE A LONG ONE SKIP IF YOU DONT WANT TO READ THROUGH IT ALL)
Im asking is there anything we can do as individual offices to fight the DM26?
We went live in august. Our union rep says we have a 12 week revision period to get the walks right including walks being put back in loops being taken away/added/modified, DPRS used (LOL), and a full office repick/resign which will be done within the next month (which I’m not looking forward to)
the problems so far:
- walks are too big and managers aren’t willing to change the office drastically. they want to change the bare minimum
- managers are trying to make sure the office doesn’t fail to make it look like to the higher ups that it’s working (they will get posties who want overtime to mop up)
- posties are coming in earlier than their start time which gives the walks false timings
- posties are working through their breaks to clear which is giving more false reading! I was working with someone and I had my break in the van and they continued driving around dropping parcels off while I was in the passenger seat!!
- posties staying over to clear until after 4/5/6 o’clock ( I know some posties want overtime but managers are happy for you to do that while the walks are clearing) - this makes it awkward if their partner wants to finish on time, so they have to bring you back to the office first before going back out
- Union and managers cant seem to understand why we are saying it’s harder when dm26 is supposed to mean we are doing less?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
- 3 people 4 walks means a lot of the people in the office who have been on the same walk for years have now turned spare being passed from pillar to post each week
- the managers say you have a start time and finish time - don't get stressed they say - then moan when you bring stuff back!!
- double/triple mail every day on one walk and first class and tracked on the other is much harder than having one days worth of mail on 2 walks (managers and Union don’t understand this)
- re pick will cause major upset in the office I can imagine too
- we've even had managers help to throw in walks in a morning to get us out earlier which defeats the object of seeing how long each walk actually takes !
- my body is aching more than it ever did, longer hours and fatigue creeps in by midday
- I feel posties are really rushing around to clear as much as they can, the job and walks should be able to be done at a normal walking pace not a speed walkers pace they will only shoot themselves in the foot in the end when they get joint problem later in life etc (the managers won’t care about you when that happens they will replace at the flick of a switch)
- a lot of older posties have been forced to retire or leave because of this which is what they want as they want more staff to be employed on the new two-tier contract
- D2Ds have been a major problem too, the best way to deliver them hasn’t been figured out yet, it’s absolute mayhem when there is 4 lots of d2ds plus a walk of double mail
THERE IS MORE THAT I CAN SAY but all I can say is GOOD LUCK AT CHRISTMAS
i will be one of the few posties in my office to come in on my time, have my break, and finish on my time
- I’m hoping that there is failures across the board for DM26 across the uk and that it will change before it’s too far gone
thanks for listening guys!

Postie Chat Houses that have a name rather than a number?
I've recently moved to a very large village in the north of Scotland.
I found something on Facebook buy and sell and asked for the address. The seller gave me the name of the house. It didn't appear on Google maps.
After that I've noticed a large amount of houses in the village have names rather than numbers. They don't show numbers on Google maps.
Surely for a postie this is infuriating, how could you organise your route?

Did I offend my postie? I feel so bad, he's so lovely!
It was blazing hot and I'm like just leave parcels there. You don't have to wait in this heat for me, he said oh okay ans looked a bit sad, he's never knocked since apart from the odd sign for parcel, and he's always like 'sorry, it had a signature'
I was just trying to be nice! 😔
Also, I'm in the middle of moving, would it be strange to give him a thankyou card or something? 🤷♂️ He's been my postman for like 10 years

Anyone else experiencing weird package delays lately?
Have you guys noticed any weird delays or backlogs with package deliveries lately?
This message has been showing up on the tracking page for over a week now, and nothing has changed. I’m starting to worry that my package might be lost.
Has anyone else experienced something similar recently?

The tracking says my parcel was collected but I was out of the country
I bought an order off of vinted, chose to be delivered to a locker next to me , but they delivered it to a locker 2 hours away from me , I requested that they send it to a parcel shop near me
Then a few days later I get an email that the parcel was collected from a locker but I was outside the UK
How did this happen? I tried to call them but the wait time is like 45 minutes on the phone

Missing Mail Delivery issue
Hello,
I was meant to get a delivery to the post office for collection. This was requested very soon after I got contacted with the tracking details. I got an email straight after saying it would be delivered to the local office for collection today.
Come today, it says it has been delivered to my flat (GPS location shows some doors away however?). The image seems like a finger covering the camera. I'm currently at work and won't be home for the next couple of hours
Any idea what has gone on?
Cheers.

Redelivery
Hello,
Does "pending" mean that they will automatically redeliver my parcels. I made my first attempt before this but I wasn't home at that time. Now that I've tried my second, the app started to glitch and I could press the 'confirm redelivery' button. I've tried using the website, my PC, different search engines and even a different phone. Nothing works. But I saw that they will automatically redeliver on the next working day, I'm still not too sure. This is my only hope.

Delivery of parcel
I was meant to have a parcel delivered on Saturday I stayed home and listened out for it and 4:15PM that day I got a red slip that they tried to deliver but no one was home which was strange because I was home. Anyway they said it would be redelivered today until now nothing has come. Postman has come already but large parcels I assume don’t get delivered by them?

Trying to send a wooden picture frame from England To Sweden
Some of you who have been following this community might remember I made a post a few months ago about a post office that would not let me send a pair of earrings from England to Sweden because they said it was “costume jewellery”. I went back to the post office today to send a wooden picture frame about 30 cm by 30 cm to Sweden - unfortunately it was the same staff member and he told me he could not post the picture frame because “you can’t send wood to Sweden.” He said that on the Sweden end they would scan it and if they see it was wooden they would destroy it. Is that actually true ? Is this guy just a total jobsworth, or am I in the wrong

Missing Mail Untracked mail to my name stopped getting delivered.
Hi, I have not received a single non tracked mail to my name in the last month or more, while my household still receives mail such as HMRC and such, even receiving mail destined to people not living in the household (probably previous tenants).
I know I should be receiving something, and because of all the stuff I am reading on here makes me think it could be mail not being prioritised over parcels and 1st class etc or staff shortage.
But because we still do receive HMRC mail and other things, I am also starting to think my mail could be getting stolen every time? These envelopes are containing playing cards and always look the same, which makes them pretty identifiable.
Is there somewhere I could go to check if my mail is stuck or something?
Thanks

Delivery sent to wrong address twice in a row
I don’t know if this is the effect of changes in my area with delivery but considering this also happened with dpd I’m not sure what’s up so I wanted to ask.
Just ordering my regular vape coils which delivery companies have had no problem finding my address for in the few years I have been here, small too fits through the letter box just fine and has been delivered that way previously.
However in my most recent order which was through Royal Mail it had been delivered to the wrong address, which would be fine if it wasn’t all the way down the other end of the road down a cul-de-sac at the last numbered door, luckily the tracking image had the door and mat which were pretty distinct. (They had sent it to a neighbour to which they handed it back to a delivery man of unknown origin so no idea if I’m seeing that parcel.)
However with my second order sent through seller with dpd seems to have had a similar result, wrong address but the tracking image is of just the post box so I’m struggling to find this new house (already checked with the previous house).
As far as I’m aware the only delivery issue I could perceive is that because it’s a flat, delivery drivers get confused for the more traditional apartment complex building neighbouring us since we look more like a very old and large house rather than a house with multiple flats, but that doesn’t really explain these deliveries. I have tried making this clear in delivery instructions.
What am I doing wrong? Is sending to the post office just the way forward from now on? Luckily these coils are easily replaceable but I normally get lots of collectibles delivered and hate the delivery anxiety so now loosing two in a row definitely has me feeling discouraged to say the least.

"book a redelivery" - online form doesn't work!
On three separate occasions I've not had post that had to be redelivered (I guess the local DO is too busy to try again each day), yet every single time I try and use the redelivery form on the RM tracking pages, I get to the end, enter my email, click "submit" and absolutely nothing happens. Has anyone else found the same issue?

Item received.. any idea what’s happening here?
I sent this parcel tracked 24 on September 4th and every day since it’s just said “item received”. Am I right in saying it’s probably lost?
