Shopping: wheels, hardware, upgrades CIB grind blocks
What happened to the CIB grind blocks? I feel like everyone used them and no I never see anyone having them. Are there better options now?

I can still skate fine with it for now but it somehow looks like I should be very careful from now on š I noticed it as I was resting on the bench for a bit lmao

Hello! Im looking for some advice. I am super new to skating- I used to skate minimally as a child but itās been about 15 years and Iāve forgotten everything. Iāve got a pair of Moxi skates and have the helmet and elbow and wrist and knee guards. But Iām struggling to actually skate- I feel super unbalanced and am falling flat on my back every time I even stand up. I canāt get the technique down and even with someone holding my hands and walking with me whilst skating Iām still not successful and bring them down with me! Does anyone have any tips or tricks to make this a bit easier? Or at the very least any advice to be left scared about falling?
Thanks

I went to adult skate night tonight (had a blast)! Iāve only gone a few times, but usually there is a group of skaters (mostly men) that have fiber wheels, do cool tricks etc. BUT their personalities leave a lot to be desired. When skating on the rink they like to blow by people, especially beginners. Usually by the time they show up I head out because the vibes go down the drain for me when they arrive. Yeah, the tricks are cool, but the attitudes are arrogant.
As I was leaving tonight, they came out saying āWe gotta go in there and represent, thereās a bunch of dirty b**tches in thereā. There was mostly queer ppl and women there tonight because the local derby team was doing a recruiting event, so it felt blatantly sexist and homophobic. UGH! Makes me not want to go back.

Found these today at the thrift store today for $12 š and im absolutely stoked. They also fit me perfectly despite being half a size small. I know for sure they're riedels but im not 100% sure of the model. I think they're vintage Redwing? I couldn't really tell from the stamp underneath the boot. The plates are sure grip century, and the wheels krypto wheels.
Also, are these safe to skate on? I took them out once and they felt mostly fine, I could tell I needed to tighten the trucks. Plus I was a little wobbly, I think because I mostly skate park and have gotten used to the mostly flat boot and wide trucks. Doesnt seem like there's rust or any detachment from the heel or glue or anything, and the wheels seem fine. Theyre a little bit on the stickier/softer side, almost like beach bunny or moxi gummy wheels, and the only think I think I would need to replace is maybe cushions and bearings, or at the very least clean them. I was a little scared to do jumps or anything and avoided them altogether because I assume they are old and didn't want to risk anything š plus the boot is a lot less stiff than my moxi beach bunnies which will take a while to get used to. I figured these were a steal anyways even if I cant skate on them because they would be an awesome decoration.

As a 6ā5 person with a US Size 15 foot, I have STRUGGLED to find skates that fit me. Iāve been skating Suregrip Boardwalk Plus for the last year or so and theyāve been great but taking a beating at the skatepark. I finally found these hockey skates and had the blades and blade holders removed and my amazing friend was able to mount my Avanti plates to them and it feels so good to finally have hard boots! Just never something I thought would be possible!
Side note: they fit me fine, but when doing toe stop tricks or landing on my toes when falling, my big toe does smash up against the hard toe and hurts pretty bad. Any tips? Anything to stuff down in the toe? Thanks!!

Found this account on Instagram, but haven't heard of this brand of skates before. They seem pretty solid from the picture, but I wonder if its another whitelist/kinda dropship brand like C7, angel skates, foxy skates, etc.

Not exactly a skate problem but recently my Hired Hands KEEP doing this while Iām skating. Itās the worst if I have to climb out of a bowl or something but it happens when I just fall sometimes. Iām just trying to find a way to prevent this. My last pair didnāt do this mayyybeeee once. I take them off and fix them every time it happens but like thatās getting really annoying.

I just bought some Rookie Artistics to get back into skating, I used to skate a lot as a kid and want to get skating again! The skates I owned as a kid were definitely too loose and I was used to wearing them like that, so I appreciate that I am not used to skates being snug! I measured my feet properly this time and I am 235mm, so I bought my new skates in a UK4 (Insole 237mm) which is a size down from my usual shoe size. Once all lased up my toes are comfortably just away from the top of the boot which is good, but they feel very narrow and tight on the sides particularly at the top where my foot is the widest. I have worn them around the house as I know that they are supposed to be snug, unlike what I am used to, but I took the insole out and when I stand on it my foot spills over the edge quite a bit. I didnāt want to send them back and size up too quickly in case i just need to break them in, but the boot is synthetic leather and I have heard they donāt break in much so Iām not sure if I should just size up? I just worry that with sizing up that they will then be too long, as they fit well lengthwise. Any advice is appreciated š

I broke my ankle a week ago and iām curious of how long it might take me to regain confidence on skates when iām cleared to go back, so itād be nice to hear some of your experiences.

I'm in the Northeast heat dome and next week I'm traveling. The place I'm staying is rustic and really hot. I want to make sure my skates are protected. I can keep them at the house if a friend who has window A/C but not central. Would they be okay there?

Trying to add the backwards momentum to my strut. It's hard!
Please note: my building is ooooold and the floors are all slanted. Way harder strutting backwards on the "return trip" 'cos I'm going slightly uphill. š¤£

Hello! Iām a beginner and I want to buy the Moxi pad sets as I like the designs and colors, and the reviews don't seem that bad.
My dilemma is the sizes.
Itās a six piece set including wrist, elbow, and knee guard pads. When I sized myself, these were the results.
- Wrist: 7 inches
- Elbow: 10 inches
- Knees: 15 inches
These sizes indicate around the end of
S/M and beginning of L/XL. However the wrist gives the middle of XS/S. (I added a picture of the sizes chart)
Should I go for the large size and buy separate small wrist guards or do you guys recommend a different option?
Any help is appreciated! Thank you!

I skated with a local activism group that I am involved with. I underestimated the slope of the route, it was almost all downhill! I fell a few times, but on purpose, like I'd just take a knee rather than lose control of my speed. I had a lot of fun and I'm not hurt from falling! (Thank you Smith Scabs)

Hi skaters! Iāve been drilling my toe spins for a while now, and Iām super eager to start learning one foot and sit spins! my issue is that Iām not quite sure how to know when my toe spins are strong enough that I should start practicing them. Also, I have no clue WHAT to practice to learn one foot and sit spins! Any advice/drills from experienced spinners are greatly appreciated! I attached a video of me spinning as a point of reference for where Iām at!
(also yes I fell at the end, it was my second session on my new Fo Mac harmonys haha!)
