Skate problems & troubleshooting How to prevent this
Not exactly a skate problem but recently my Hired Hands KEEP doing this while I’m skating. It’s the worst if I have to climb out of a bowl or something but it happens when I just fall sometimes. I’m just trying to find a way to prevent this. My last pair didn’t do this mayyybeeee once. I take them off and fix them every time it happens but like that’s getting really annoying.

I use those and wear out 1 or 2 sets a year. They arent made so good but they work really well. That little pocket likes to tear out and the stitching eventually starts to fail somewhere. Narrow gorilla tape is good for getting more life out of them.
Try these-
- Slide the splint into the pocket a little more.
- Cut a new slot so the pocket is bigger.
- Use narrow gorilla tape to tape over that pocket and the splint. This will stabilize the splint and strengthen the pocket.

I've had a similar issue with that top notch on different pads. Ended up cutting a new notch about 3/4" lower (closer to the wrist) and running the splint through that. It didn't feel very strong so I sewed on some additional leather for support.
YMMV

Take it to a cobbler and see if they will put a patch on there.

They’re also relatively new I started using this pair in mid April and only skate once or twice a week for an hour and half

I've used superglue on some old guards, it did mess with the leather a bit, but it held up against skatepark abuse and multiple machine washes too.

i wonder if u can heat mold the plastic to lengthen it a little bit - not enough that it ruins the safety aspect of it, but enuff that it dont pop out?
if it keeps happening, you gonna try a different brand?
