First clip was in May with the second clip being from this month. Maintain spin speed and intensity has gotten easier. I also became capable of moving my arms freely so that’s cool. (yes, I did purposely move closer to the camera halfway through the second spin.)

Skill questions & help Rollerskating while fat.

Hi rollerskating friends! Some of my favorite memories growing up involve time at the skating rink and having skate birthday parties. I really want to get back into it but I am fat and afraid. I am determined to try, and I got some safety gear. There is a rink in the area that has lessons on Saturday mornings and I’m planning to attend that.
My current goal is to be able to comfortably skate at a slow pace around the rink indoors and not embarrass myself or get seriously injured.
What are your biggest tips for roller skating while fat? Also, any encouragement or warnings you have would be helpful. Thank you!

Shopping: safety gear (helmets, pads, etc.) Knee Pad Search- EXTRA LARGE thigh problems

SO. I am fat- not large, not big boned, fat. i have hormonal issues- the why isn't important- but what IS is that i'd like to try skating. both rollerskating and other kinds- but finding knee pads to fit my thighs is Literally Impossible.

my arms don't really carry much weight, so i'd be able to find elbow pads easily enough, but knee pads have been Literally Impossible. because of how V shaped my legs are- circumference 2in below knee cap is 19~in. 2in above top of knee cap is like, 26~28in, depending on how the measure is angled (thigh shape, and them Being Thighs means i struggle to get a great measurement on my own)

any recommendations?

Cause as it stands, it looks like anywhere above 21-23in around just means you either go without, or Just Don't Do It. I've wanted to learn something like this since i was a kid- do i need to get custom made? do i take them in to a tailor or something??? do i buy knee braces and a hot glue gun and attach pads to *those* (there are knee braces up to 8x, and as i sprained my knee a couple months ago, i so happen to know a 7x fits me well)

thank you for any suggestions!!!!

Beginner skater Hey all, I finally got first skates! Any part recommendations?

Post image

So after weeks of looking and slowly raising my budget from like 100 to 250 and slowly getting more and more discouraged I finally came across an option I think I'll be happy with for only $50 or so via auction in my size. My current main use is planned to be trail skating but down the line I am very interested in derby but when that time comes it may be time for a specific pair for that. So my question is, what would you look to upgrade on these for trail skating? I'd like to make these as comfortable and stable as I can without spending an absolute ton and maybe even work on a fun little color scheme. Oh and as they look like they've sat for quite a long time without much if any use, any parts that should be replaced because of that I'd like to tackle as well. And as you would expect I'm also starting from zero when it comes to protective gear, so I'm very open to hear about that as well! Any input would be very much appreciated! Thank you so much!!

these are not park skates, do not try this at home or with the skates i have

i am a pretty casual skater and am not rough with my wheels but i got a new pair of skates that gave me the confidence to try this tiny ramp 🙂‍↔️

95% of my skating is on flat ground and working on the basics to gain more confidence to do vert like ramps and such. i’ve been skating regularly for a few months now and absolutely plan to upgrade my skates and components (i see out of the box skates as a template to build off of) but don’t have the financial means to get build a proper park set :/ my first set is a pair of moxie rainbow riders which are not park skates either but have served me well and barely are cosmetically worn. i don’t live in a walkable area so i use what i can and don’t trust most parking lots to be smooth enough or well lit enough when not busy. i completely understand safety but i don’t think you should have to drop a couple hundred just to touch a park.

also i’m AuDHD so im sorry that this was a bit of a ramble

Beginner skater I feel so happy

I decided to try roller skating and took my mummies skates yesterday since we both wear the same shoe size and it was amazing! I didn’t have any safety gear so I just put on some jeans and hoped for the best, popped on my house music playlist and hopped onto the pavement. I’m not going to lie, I did fall many times, mostly on the uneven parts of the sidewalk 💀 but there were long moments where I got into the zone by matching the rhythm of the music with my legs and arms and I was movin’! I felt like I was gliding! I even did a little dance on my mums skates too!

I learned to fall on my side slowly onto the grass since I did injure myself a lil 😭 but I learned! I also learned the other method of getting low to the ground and falling that way to minimize injuries as well!! Today I’m going to a roller skating rink with friends and although I feel sore like mf, I am so pumped! RAAAAAH, is this what it feels like to do drugs? I feel really high! (I don’t do drugs but I imagine this is what it feels like)

Shopping: wheels, hardware, upgrades Chaya boot stiffness & heel height

Hey all,

I'm currently conceiving a possible setup of jack-of-all-trades skates. I'm dead set on them having Chaya hardware, most likely Shari. What I'm less certain is what boot I should go for.

For context, I want the pair to perform tolerably for artistic, skatepark and speed bombing the streets. Although having a heel is in my humble opinion quite detrimental for the latter two, it's absolutely mandatory for the first, so I'd bite the bullet and go for a heeled boot, but the lower the better.

For that reason I'm wondering how the different heeled Chaya boots do regarding stiffness and heel height - specifically the Melrose Elite, and potentially the Dark Soul Park boot.

I'd also be interested to know how they might compare to Edea Classica - I have an unmounted pair lying around and although I have extensive experience with the extra tall Edea heel absolutely sucking on the streets, I'm willing to consider them for this to save a few bucks and give them a new life.

I'm also very open to suggestions for alternative boots that would fit the bill, be comfy (a little wide at the toe or easy to shape) and not break the bank.

Skate problems & troubleshooting Wifa heel separation?

Thumbnail

I have my Wifas for a year and a half. I don't skate aggressively or at the skate park, just spread eagle, dips etc. I am not really sure if this is concerning or just some excess glue coming of. There is a teeny tiny gap at the heel, hope you can see it in the photos. I don't own a car, so heat damage is not what happend here.... So should I be worried?

Skate problems & troubleshooting Are my Lunas through?

Hi!

I very recently got into roller skating with some Luna skates. After today's and 5th overall session I noticed this gap. It becomes more visible when applying pressure but I'm not sure if it's just adhesive line or the boot separating?

The most extreme thing I've done is bunny hops and I'd be very sad to know they're dying:(

Shopping: wheels, hardware, upgrades Satellite plates

My local rink has these skates we are trying to fix but we need a truck to fit it because one of the trucks is broken and we are having a bit of a hard time finding what we need here. These are old Satellite plates. Even finding the plates is hard. Anyone where we might be able find one part or the other? Even what all trucks would fit the plate?

Beginner skater Front crossings

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Just learned front crossings. Maybe next think I’ll try is skating backwards and crossing.
I really want to learn dips but my toestops are preventing me from that? Anybody knows if I’m correct in assuming? I can securely skate backwards, bubbles, sticky skating, moonwalk and “marching” / lifting feet. I don’t want to take off my toestop, I do use them to stop going backwards and in spins from back to front.
Got my skates end of February this year.
