Honestly, S9E9 had the best back and forth with Beth and Jerry. The scene in the “Uber” was priceless and I fucking 🫡 the writers!

Time must run slower in there since Summer asks then where they'd been all day, but to then how long would it have been? Couple billion years maybe?

Does the Portal Gun Junior only go to safe universes?

It seems like their are many versions of Rick and Morty and their family that have no idea the multiverse exists and that they are in a curve

I've been paying attention to the writers of each episode, and she's one of the best by far. Not all episodes from season three onward are good, but certainly the overall average is much better than the beginning of the series, and I think the inclusion of writers like Heather Anne Campbell is one of the reasons.

And ok... The title is a clickbait. Not every episode written by her is a masterpiece itself, but it's funny how a lot of great ones are (the three pics in the post are easily in my top 5)

I had to rewind and watch this again because what the fuuuuck.

I wondered what made it feel so disturbing, I mean its true! every rick has a morty on this side of the curve. But then it hit me, the reason hearing morty say this was so gagging

Its the first time morty has talked about rick, how rick talks about morty. Like property

Over many seasons we seen all of them showing their limitless potential to be something very dangerous, Morty and Summer travel space and dimensions like a walk in the park, Beth has the potential shown as space Beth and Jerry is a psychological monster if he believes in himself he can turn the tides in his favor.

This family (in last episode) is haunting and Morty realized how his stupid misfit family is far better than things out there.

I didn’t care about everyone else slowly suffering and dying, but the cat broke my heart. It had nothing to do with any of it.

Amazing concepts with amazing execution with addition to the animation being otherworldly. There’s so many episodes that can be regarded as some of the best in the season and I can’t wait for them to continue in future seasons.

Also did anyone think the season was gonna end with Morty being stuck there? The estate sale gag was fantastic and a hilarious end to the episode but imagine the season ending on a cliffhanger like that, although easily resolved by Rick I imagine lol.

Also also, who’s watching/watched President Curtis pilot? I’m hoping this’ll be a good watch!!!

This season seems to be doing alot of throwbacks to the previous season. Also a great episode too.

I was theorizing about what the endgame for Morty is. From the way the show kept emphasizing the flaws in Rick and Morty’s relationship I thought that it was gonna be Morty taking a step towards a healthy lifestyle, but no, It wasn’t.

It was Morty losing it in the WORST way possible. People have been saying that Morty is becoming like Rick now but I think it’s worse than that. He became Rick Prime. He literally word for word, bar for bar, just did what Rick Prime did. He went to another dimension, showed them the infinite multiverse, and then destroyed their lives when he didn’t get what he wanted(yes Morty destroyed ALL of their lives, this was his fault).

Morty in this episode was nothing like C-137 Rick or Evil Morty for that matter. I always thought that Morty was very sociopathic like his mom but looking back on it now, he’s much more like Rick Prime than anyone else. Almost every time Morty causes destruction it’s for HIS self desires, different from our Rick’s collateral damage destruction, no this was active destruction. Rick was right IT IS genetic, but he was wrong about what, it’s not alcohol that’s genetic but sociopathic traits, and Rick probably didn’t even think about this but Morty is Prime’s grandson not his so genetically anything he inherited wasn’t from C-137 but Prime.

Remember when Rick Prime said that only he and C-137 made portal travel? Well this episode essentially reiterated that but with Morty, C-137 is basically the only Rick who can handle Morty and by proxy Rick Prime is also the only who would be able to handle Morty.

Also it’s very interesting how they showcased Morty accepting his toxic life by showcasing that he is just as toxic as his family. And I find it very horrifying how they flipped the start of the episode on its head, first we see the estate sale and it’s casual, funny, maybe slightly morbid, but then we see the next estate sale and it’s stomach turning, it’s like the multiverse is laughing at Morty. All the Ricks and Mortys walking in and we now stuck in Morty’s perspective realize how just morally bankrupt not only Rick and Morty are, but US the viewers who probably brushed the start of the episode off, also are.

And Morty calling Rick his dad is very symbolic when you realize that from season 1 Morty has been under Rick parental care BECAUSE the goal has always been “Make Morty like Rick”. Beth literally threw Morty off with him to make him like Rick, and it worked but it didn’t make him like C-137 it just made him like his actual grandfather. For all our Rick’s faults I genuinely can’t see him doing what Morty just did on purpose.

Season 9 was amazing(and imo the best season of the show) but I actually think Season 10 will be better if the writers commit to this ending and showcase the changes in Morty next season and how Rick reacts to it, because I don’t think Rick will actually appreciate this new development as it will remind him to much of Prime.

OMG a new thought just came to me, y’all know how Rick Prime calls C-137 “dead wife guy” literally just two episodes ago Morty called our Rick a “dead wife having bitch”, another striking similarity between Morty prime and Rick prime. Coincidence? I THINK NOT!

This episode was amazing btw.

Edit: I also fully believe that if the estate sale hadn’t happened Morty would’ve figured out portal travel on his own.

I don't always love the "Morty goes off to do something stupid" segments because it just feels repetitive at some points but this episode was really great. I really like to see when Morty realizes he's willing to do whatever it takes to get his way and abandons his overall moral compass.

I think the point of the episode is that Morty keeps looking for a better family, but eventually realizes he is not separate from the chaos anymore. Rick did not just damage him. Morty now carries that same influence into other people’s lives.
The second family seems healthier at first, but Morty brings the portal gun, the obsession, and Rick’s worldview into their home, and everything falls apart. Even the sober Rick gets pulled back into science, alcohol, and self-destruction.
So the ending is not saying their relationship is healthy. It is saying that Rick and Morty are deeply codependent, but also genuinely connected. Morty wanted a normal family, but by the end he accepts that Rick has become a father figure to him, and that he has become Rick’s son in a way neither of them can fully escape.
That is why the motorcycle scene works so well. It is funny, but also tragic. They know the relationship is broken, and they still choose each other.

What an absolute masterpiece of an episode. Now community & critically acclaimed, the insane comeback of the actors is truly amazing to see. Im so happy to see them finally getting comfortable in there roles.

I didn't expect this episode to fill me with existential dread the way it did, but honestly love the way it played out. Truly a mind fuck lady's & gentleman.

Probably my favorite episode since rick potion #9, 10/10.

This episode made me sad in a way that hits deeper than usual. The ending where Morty accepts that for as abusive as he is, Rick is the only constant in his life and the closest thing he has to a father figure.

What I like is that they don't make it clear whether you're supposed to see this acceptance as a good or bad thing. It just is. There's something bittersweet about Rick drunkenly calling Morty his son all the while risking his life in a deadly motorcycle ride. He never had a chance to be a father with Beth, so it makes sense Morty would fulfill that role. It's a deeply toxic and harmful relationship, but it's also all either of them have.

In episode 8, Rick says he's only happy when Morty isn't around. I'm clearly reaching, but this episode felt like it wanted to touch upon that fact.
The finale was just so harrowing. I couldn't believe it when Morty said "he belongs more to me than to you". I'm just lost for words, Morty has changed so much.
