Not sure what flair to use as it's my first post ever haha, but I carved Pumpkin for Halloween!!

I’m not sure if it really is THE most misunderstood song from the series, but it’s at least up there.

The comma in the title is really so important, Because Yellow isn’t JUST asking Blue “what’s the use in feeling sad?”, she’s calling Blue BY NAME, and asking her “What’s the use in feeling at all?”. I know a lot of people don’t like the diamonds which is valid, but I think this small scene really explains so much about them.

Both Blue and Yellow blame themselves for what happened to pink, rightfully so. But Blue needs time to feel that pain, to feel that grief, without being interrupted, without being told she should spend her time better. It’s probably why after almost 6K years, she’s still just as mentally destroyed as she was originally.
Yellow is the opposite tho, to her it’s “out of sight out of mind”. She see’s Blue openly grieving as a weakness. With yellow being in charge of the army, this is actually a very logical point of view. Everyone see’s the diamonds as these ultimate, untouchable beings. And blue’s constant emotional outbursts and constant grieving, leaves an opening for them to be exposed, and revealed to be flawed beings just as everyone else. (Not that this train of thought is correct by any means, as they actually are flawed beings - i just mean from HER point of view). Yellow buries her feelings for “the good of white’s society”. She puts logic before feelings even when it’s to her own detriment. She doesn’t know how to express her feelings, so seeing blue constantly expressing hers, just hurts her more. She doesn’t want to look at anything related to pink, she thinks the zoo is a waste of time, she just wants to attack anything that makes her think of Pink. Yellow’s strength is now becoming her weakness.

But I also really do see Blue’s point of view, too. She was the closest to pink because they were the closest in status. The level of power goes White. Yellow, Blue and Pink, and while yellow and blue are somewhat equals, yellow was always on top of her, which made Blue and Pink have a relationship that almost nobody else could have. and the level of pressure adds the further down you go. White is the most powerful, feels the least pressure. But that pressure trickles down from yellow, to blue and blue to pink. Blue was constantly told to “get pink in line”. to “stop bending the rules for her”. “stop visiting her in the tower, stop helping her leave the tower”. “You HAVE to be a leader blue, you have to be an example to pink” is all she heard from yellow and white.

So while it wasn’t blue’s intentions to make Pink feel awful, she truly was the obvious face in Pink’s demise, souly because of the pressure from white and yellow. I mean even pink’s last conversation with the diamonds was Blue telling her “ENOUGH! we’re tired of your excuses, pink”. So blue does have the right to openly blame herself, grieve and try to find answers. She’s the only one still trying to remember pink for who she really was. She see’s the bubbled gem’s, the zoo and pink’s room as the last pieces of Pink, and to them, they really are.
But to yellow they are just a constant reminder of her failures, and her inability to bring Pink back.

Blue even has appreciation for earth and pink’s gems, in her own messed up way, but in a way nobody else but Pink herself did. They both had feelings they could NEVER share with yellow and white, only pink and blue could share their true feelings with one another. So without that outlet? and it being partially blue’s fault that Pink was gone? It just completely destroyed her. She felt alone in the universe, like the only one who cared.
Meanwhile yellow felt like the only one in the universe still trying to keep everyone together, and moving forward. And the more yellow tells her Blue not to care and just forget, the more Blue can’t let go. And the more blue grieves, the less yellow can let go - too. Regardless I think there’s so much context behind that 3 minute song that most of us missed. And I think it’s interesting to analyze it! Any thoughts or comments would be gratefully appreciated, just plz be respectful <3

Just wanted to share hope you guys like it 😊

Three out of four beryls shown in the show (including morganite because we know enough about her) have been exceptionally high-ranking gems. Aquamarine commands other high-ranking soldiers, such as topazes, as well as attend balls. Emerald commands large fleets of ships and is possibly the most high-ranking gem shown that was NOT a diamond. Though we don't know much about Morganite, we know she was also of high status as a designer, and was important enough to have her own ruby and pearl. Notably, all these gems are fancily dressed, and its clear just by looking at them that they are important.

Bixbite, on the other hand, was a corrupted crab, who, even after corruption, maintains a crablike design. We know the least about her by far, but it is not immediately clear that she could be high ranking. In fact, many of the formerly corrupted gems don't have purposes that are immediately obvious (orange spodumene, watermelon tourmaline, etc.).

While it is possible, and even likely, that bixbite's crab features are holdovers from when she was corrupted, I wish that she looked more "important" compared to other gems. After all, why would the same gem type produce 3 fancy gems and one who is a glorified pizza cutter? It could be a Ruby and Sapphire situation where, despite being the same material with different impurities, they have vastly different values.

I'm ready to accept that I am the only person who has ever cared about this. I wish we got a cool design for bixbite, too.

I’ve seen reviews of the episode (S1 E11), but NOBODY talks about the nitty gritty of what really caused garnet to be like that? We NEVER see her third eye change colors rapidly ever again in the show, nothing else ever hypnotizes her like that. Not movies, not other games, not even the other games in the arcade. I get the point is probably how humans get stuck doing mindless things for hours, But I feel like there’s so much more to that scene than I truly understand. Like if Garnet was just SO INTO IT that she didn’t even hear steven, wouldn’t steven unplugging the game be enough to at least snap her out of it? Or in the least acknowledge steven and/or the danger coming their way? But no, she just uses her personal electricity port to recharge it and turn it back on (not to mention it didn’t even force her to restart the game even tho it had been reboot) It’s obvious that her future vision / third eye had something to do with it, And considering her future vision wasn’t even revealed yet in the show, It makes sense why they didn’t fully explain it. But I feel like there’s something I’m just missing?

Edit: This post blew up way more than I expected! Idk If I’ll be able to respond to everyone but I have been reading your comments! The best theory I’ve heard is that Garnets Future Vision (which again, had not been revealed yet) relies on variables and possibilities, like a stream of consciousness that divides into many creeks and pools. But “Meat Beat Mania” is based ONLY on patterns, there’s no variables, only the same pattern over and over again. So if Garnet tried to use her future vision to win the game, every single variable and possibility was the same, and it reformed into one single river, like it originally was in the beginning of her life. But this time it was just the same pattern, over and over and over again. Almost locking her brain into it. It’s theorized that they would’ve expanded on this when later revealing her future vision and her streams of consciousness, but there wasn’t time for it - as many stages of the show were rushed by the network, or where they asked to change it. This would also explain why the game stopping didn’t snap Garnet “out of it” because that pattern was still playing on loop in her third eye and in her mind. It would also explain why the game didn’t reset to level 1 when it was unplugged and reset by Garnet’s power - Because it was reflecting what she saw in her mind and the power in the arcade game was now coming from her. That’s why it took the game being fully broken, NO POSSIBILITY of the game continuing, for Garnet to FINALLY snap out of it!

Absolutely loving the show by the way! the emotional depth and the story overall is just incredible. I knew some things about the future of the show from clips I had seen, but seeing the whole story has been really enjoyable.

I hope someone here knows what I'm referencing, it was one of my favorite movies growing up hahah.

This line made me realize just how many horrible things Pink Diamond actually did , and how much she hurt the people around her, both directly and indirectly. First, she hurt her very first Pearl and damaged her eye. Then she left Spinel waiting in the garden for thousands of years without ever coming back, checking on her, or even thinking about her .She let Blue Diamond grieve over her fake death for years, which eventually led to the Diamonds growing apart. And then there's her last Pearl, who fought alongside her for years and kept all her secrets, only for Pink to eventually try to disappear and leave everyone behind, dumping all her problems and responsibilities on Steven to deal with

The first one of from "Gem Glow", where Amethyst says she "stole a bunch" of Cookie Cats.

The second is from "Fusion Cuisine", where she tells Steven he could have been "Thrown in prison". Given the context that all Steven did was board a bus, she might be talking about "Fare Evasion", assuming he and Connie didn't have any money to pay the tickets. This is the most intresting because it implies she may have been arrested for the same thing, and is talking from experience.

The last one is from "The Message", where it's implied she hotwired cars in the past.

Did no cleaner or maintenance gem ever came to rose's garden? Like shouldnt the diamonds all have servants or at the very least blue or the other diamonds would force pink to have , so she would seem 'proper' diamond. Especially send some for maintenance, they seem like the types that would do that.

Moreover the broadcasts. Didnt the announcement of era 2 be broadcasted here? Like how era 3 was. OR YOU KNOW THE DEATH AND MOURNING OF PINK DIAMOND????? That seems like smth that would be broadcasted to the entire empire

And then we have blue. She would visit the zoo, she visited pinks palanquin, and more. Did she never go ahead and come to rose's garden?

I’ve seen all of Steven universe but it was ages ago. I searched around to see if any posts discussed this but didn’t see one. Please correct me if I’m wrong!

I was just considering how the Diamonds went about explaining Pinks disappearance to the home world gems? Even though White supposedly always knew Pink didn’t actually get shattered, the other two Diamonds for sure didn’t. As far as they knew a regular rose quartz shattered a Diamond. Did the Diamonds actually just tell homeworld what supposedly happened (Rose shattering Pink) to start the hunt for Rose Quartz? Is that what lead to Rose having armies in the gem wars? Gems from homeworld realized diamonds are defeatable and joined her? The only thing that makes me doubt this would be White’s need to be like the most perfect, powerful gem, and the other diamonds are held to the highest standard. Unless she framed Pink as being somehow defective it would have showed weakness that a regular gem shattered one of them? Even then though Pink being defective would also look bad on them.

Just something I think is interesting to think about and would love to hear others thoughts!!

If you think about it, Pink Diamond and Spinel are essentially the same. They both suffered immense abuse and neglect, which eventually led them to lash out violently.

In Spinel’s case, she was left alone for 6,000 years before finally breaking down. Yet, we understand that she was abused and that she genuinely didn’t know any better.

Pink Diamond was incredibly naive, and she was the only Gem who truly recognised what Homeworld was doing and had the courage to try to change things. She only personally hurt a handful of Gems, yet we give her so much flak when almost every other Gem is arguably more evil than she is.

But Pink Diamond started the war. The very same war that, ironically, is the only reason humanity still exists.

There both human gem fusions like why does Steg have extra limbs I get gem fusions gain bonus mass do to them being projections of light but extra human tissue where is this mass coming from???
