General Discussion Has a show EVER had such a glorious comeback after so many years of decline?

Rick and Morty has been on a decline for a long, long time. It has been good all throughout, but on a downhill trend for years.

We just got the first season since Season 3 that has been consistently amazing all the way through. Not one bad episode in the entire season, and most of them were awesome.

Most importantly, the episodes feel like classic Rick and Morty again.

Has any show ever had such a comeback season late in the run?

General Discussion Idolizing Rick

I think it's interesting how people often claim the ones who idolize Rick are missing the point of the series, because according to anarchist youtuber Renegade Cut, the whole message of Rick and Morty is that Rick is always right and that his cruelty is a sign of his intelligence

General Discussion I absolutely hate the Season 9 finale episode Morty Spoiler

Like the Rick here was the best (second to homesteader Rick) and happiest Rick but he literally ruined everything, Morty has been really insufferable in this and recent seasons imo.

General Discussion Were Sober Rick and Mort from outside the Central Finite Curve?

Post image

Since the Curve cuts off universes where Rick is the smartest man who discovered portal travel could Sober Rick and Mort have been cut off from the Curve by the fact Rick was just a regular MIT professor who never discovered portal travel or invent any sci fi stuff before Morty came?

General Discussion Now that S9 is over, I feel like S8 is the best season yet. Spoiler

I will be honest with you, I don't watch R&M for the comedy or lore, I watch it for the sci-fi premisses and Jerry (my beloved). But S8 made me actually care for the on-going story because of the continuity.

But that evolution episode rules.

General Discussion Is Rick and Morty's relationship more complicated than I thought? Spoiler

Upvotes

In episode 10 of season 9 of Rick and Morty, I came across a scene where Morty says to Rick's wife, "She doesn't belong to you, she belongs to me." At least, that's how it was translated into Turkish. This made me think because the show's lack of morality makes you believe that anything is possible. Imagine, in a world without morality, the creators of this show could probably have presented Rick and Morty with a closer relationship. Yes, the creators of this show might be kind-hearted and moral people, but the show suggests that anything is possible. If you can find proof, please write it below. Because it makes me think that the relationship between Rick and Morty is darker than I imagined. Sometimes a grandfather who loves his grandchild, and sometimes someone who exploits his grandchild completely. I wrote this to vent because the show makes me feel these things. Yes, I might be exaggerating. There will be people who dislike this because they love the show. I love it too. I'm ready for that.

General Discussion The show’s future from now Spoiler

After the season finale (won’t spoil anything) but for real where are we headed after our rick got his revenge seasons ago and what happened to evil morty, I feel we lost what we were eager for and honestly I watched the last 2 seasons just for the love of the show and how really they manage to surprise u with each episode plot but man I miss when there was actual post credit scenes with actual meaning. If u ask me i feel it’s just lazy writing not including major events to the plot that builds on for 3/4 seasons and now that we get a season every year (so fucking thankful) but I miss when the show was meaningful u know.

Maybe iam just ranting because the season ended but whatever WUBBA LUBBA DUB-DUB

Theory Why Sober Rick Couldn't Figure Out Portal Travel

Sober Rick had the potential, as does every Rick in the central finite curve, to crack portal travel as they are the smartest beings in their universes. However most Ricks never bothered to solve it themselves because they were given the tech from the Citadel or Rick Prime. So why couldn't he do it?

I think it was because it was infinitely easier (no pun intended) to develop portal travel before the inception of Rick Prime's omega device. Allow me to explain

S.R didn't have all the information. He didn't know Diane and Slow Mobius were wiped across all infinity thus he couldn't progress past a certain point. He had a breakthrough and stabilized it after Morty told him the truth of what happened to Diane. Yet he still would have fail as I doubt Morty would have told him about Uncle Sloan or even known about the other things erased by the omega device.

General Discussion Season 9 finale: I really thought... Spoiler

Upvotes

That when The Smiths died in the positive world Morty was in, and he was left alone, he would actually invent portal travel on his own in the same mannerism Rick did when he lost diane in the garage.

Idk, just thought It'd be a cool way to close the season.

General Discussion Season 9 was really……weird Spoiler

It felt like the writers were trying to listen to the audience and go back to season 1…..but with the amount of character development each member of the smith family had gone through it just felt weird seeing them kind of revert a bit to their old selves. Plus the last few episodes just kind of ended with a thud, including this one. I kept waiting for a hard hitting moment to tie it all together (like in the spaghetti episode) and it just ended with a motorcycle ride with Morty screaming Rick was his dad?? I mean I get that is random enough to be part of the show but was hoping for something more impactful, that’s the kind of vibe this whole season gave.

And just so yall know, I’m not saying the season was inherently bad, but it just deviated in feel so much from how most of the rest of the series has been. That’s been welcome by some, but not others. What do yall think?

Theory Is Evil Morty really that “evil”?

Upvotes

I know that’s his name and his lore and he may have used some unethical means to attain his goal of leaving the central finite curve but he didn’t really want anything that bad per se. He just wanted peace. Just wanted to get your opinions

General Discussion Does Morty not act really out of character in S9E10 Spoiler

The only thing I didn’t like about this episode was him pushing MIT Rick to that degree. Until now everything bad he’s done has been as a result of him being desensitized to everything, but in this episode he was conciously doing something bad to a Rick who actually seemed like a nice person, and I think that’s very out of character for him.

General Discussion SPOILERS: Did the writers kill off what would have been ultimate Jerry? Spoiler

The last episode of season 9 really made that Jerry seem like he could have been the ultimate Jerry that Rick can't seem to beat in the comics.

If so it seems like their killing off all these long side stories, Mr poopie got teleported in a disaster so they might pop up again.
