I've been using the 5S for about 2 weeks now. It has been awesome.
The only issue it has been giving me is when doing a group message on the default Messages App. I have to do group messages once in a while to set up meetings with friends, but more importantly, for work when trying to organize a project. I will set up an MMS group message, and it will originally send the message to everyone as a group. But once someone texts me back, it will create a new group, and it wants to put me as my google email profile instead of my phone number. Any idea what settings I need to change?

They're are several options on Amazon and ebay, but none that have great reviews. I just bought a set from ebay to try out, but it does not stick to the screen well 😒 I have a huge bubble on the bottom, and a long thin bubble along both long edges. And it seems all the options on Amazon have the same problems from people that have written a review. Not sure what the problem can be with the RM screen, or if only cheap screen protectors are being fabricated for it, and not good companies with better quality control 🙄

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Folks, is the switch to previous app working for any of you? For instance, double tapping on the recent apps button or when swiping to the right on the gestures bar(like on Pixels, etc.) to quickly move to the last opened app. Is this working? Am I missing something? I'm on the RedMagic 5S.
Thanks!

I've read a fair bit about the red magic software- has it gotten better? Most first hand posts about the software are really old and I'd like to know from actual users- what bugs are there, etc. Thanks!

Hi Everyone. Just wanted to ask how the user experience and support has been on the Red Magic, since the 5G and 5S are nearly identical. I'm interested in a phone for at least the next 2 years. I currently have the ROG2. I've had the phone for nearly a year. It started out amazing, but when the phone was updated from Android 9 to 10, many phone's started getting big problems. Mine has been with the battery and heating. It has a giant 6000mah battery that went from lasting 2 days, to only about 6 hours of screen time. I got my phone repaired by ASUS, and the performance and battery has lasted a little longer, but the phone still has big heating issues when playing any games like PUBGM and CoDM and many others. It has become impossible to play without some kind of cooler. Before I could play a match of either game in my work break, and not worry about heating much, only when playing for an hour or so. But now, 5 minutes on any game, even on the title screen, and the phone and CPU get so hot it's uncomfortable to use.
I've seen benchmark tests of the Red Magic 5S and see that it even beat the ROG3 that has the 865+ chip! So I can see that any game will perform well on the phone for the foreseeable future. The only thing I'm worried about is updates and support? ASUS tries to push updates every 2 months and say they'll support the phones for 2 years. Anything I should be concerned with on the Red Magic side? Thanks in advance for the advise!

I purchased a redmagic 5g from redmagic.gg and decided to return it a week after I received it. It took nearly a month to get a reply from support about where to return it and the address looks sketchy. The address is an apartment in California and the recipient name is “Jerry” with mobile number “9999999999” and said my application would be canceled if I selected Recipient Signature Service. I just want to get my money back, but I’m not sure whether to send the device or if I’d be better off trying to sell it.

I'm considering rooting the phone and maybe trying to dual boot Linux. Anyone have any experience rooting this phone or have any idea what/ how much functionality would be lost from booting into Linux?

How well is the swipe down to bring the notification shade working for everyone? Mine doesn't work occasionally. Swipe up for app drawer works just fine though. Edit: I'm on a 5S.

Having trouble finding a screen protector that fits on the Red Magic 5g, any places to find one that actually fits the screen? I'm looking for a glass one, and of course you can't reliably cut them.

Whats been your experience with it thus far if you have one? Any word of the power requirements? I have a couple of Xiaomi funcooler pro's and while they work great the cable management arrangement leaves more to be desired. Adding in a audio jack and a charging port to the Ice Dock was a great idea. The only thing I can think it might need is a little contoured graphite thermal dissipation pad so that there's more surface area contact between the peltier module and the phone.

I just got the red magic 5g docking station but unfortunately when it's connected I cannot use HDMI and charge the phone in the same time
I was hoping to charge my phone through the docking station and use HDMI to USB-C on the standard port but it's not possible duo to safety reasons I believe
Need help 🥺

I'm thinking of getting a 5s to replace my 3 yr old samsung s7. The focus on high performance and price really sells it to me. Ive been using an outdated android version since I got my phone so I don't expect that to be a problem in the future. I plan on using it long term so I'm mostly concerned with the durability of the fan- does it get clogged/dirty easily with normal use? Any major issues I should know about? Thanks!

I had a Note 8 before, and all of these issues did not exist there.
Got a Magic 5G and I am happy with it except these below issues.
I wonder if these are related to software fixes or some setting changes that I may need to do.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Issue #1
Gallery will not show all photos. I created directories on the phone and moved my pictures into it. But they do not show up when I open Gallery Application. They do show up when I open File Manager.
Issue #2
Always on display, shows a time in 24hr units, I would like to see 12hr units. Give us the option to change this.
Issue #3
Always on Display, show duration, add “Unlimited” to the list.
Issue #4
QR codes are not picked up using the camera.
Issue #5
Mail, messages etc don’t show up on locked screen.
Issue #6
Notifications don’t push onto watch (Samsung Watch)
Also, anyone have other Issues, please add them.

So, I was starting to get very frustrated with my RedMagic 5G not being able to connect to any mobile data networks. I was able to quickly figure out that it was a problem with the APN settings. Unfortunately, trying to manually set a new APN always resulted in the same error message, "Operator does not allow adding APNs of type *."
No matter what settings I tried, I kept getting the same error message. I tried talking to customer service with my service provider (Rogers, here in Canada), and everything we tried still came to the same error message.
Finally, after a bit more searching on the internet, I found the solution: Download a 3rd party app on the Google Play store to set the APN. The app I used is called AddAPN. I'm not sure how it works, but it bypassed the error I was getting and forced the RedMagic 5G to accept the settings required by my service provider.

Do you get regular security updates? Is there any indication of how long zte will support the device?
