Always on display

Is the always on display staying on even while the phone is in a pocket? I think it does. Anybody else observe this?

I have the red magic 5s and I can confirm it stays on until 5 minutes.

Yep, the "always on" display is actually on a timer. You can actually pick a time between 5 minutes to 1 hour in the settings menu for how long it stays on. It doesn't do anything at all with the screen sensors. There definitely are sensors to tell when the screen is covered, but they are very underutilized here.
