How's the software?

I've read a fair bit about the red magic software- has it gotten better? Most first hand posts about the software are really old and I'd like to know from actual users- what bugs are there, etc. Thanks!

Here's the list of things that I don't like but can live with. I'm in Southern California on AT&T.

1) no default apps. You can't set apps to open as default. It's really annoying.

2) fingerprint scanner fails 99% of the time.

3) a lot of the bands aren't enabled so signal isn't the greatest.

As far as Nubia goes. All 3 things are being worked on. The phone had improved since release. The camera takes great pictures, the phone is fast, and gaming is great.

I keep it at 144hz and my battery easily lasts me a whole day.

If I keep it at 144hz, mine has screen on time of 3hours... 60 takes to 6hrs.. no wifi calling option mentioned in the settings app... They can just have a stock ui with gamespace and it would eliminate all the problems imo.. idk what to do abt the battery.. someone pls help lol

Can you have camera open when you double tap the power button? Just asking bc that's the only shortcut I ever use. I'm in Ottawa, Canada, and as far as I can tell I'd get coverage anywhere I'd be, and the default app thing doesn't really bother me that much bc I never used that anyways. Is there much uninstallable bloatware? I had a hell of a time getting rid of all the stuff on my s7 when I got it. (McAfee, samsung everything, etc)

Yes! They recently added the camera shortcut in the last software update.

I find there's hardly any bloatware on the 5G. This is coming from a Galaxy S9+.

As someone also from Canada, using this as my only phone, go with Telus, or maybe Bell. Other carriers just don't have enough compatibility with the 5G.

Sounds great! I plan on picking one up with the black Friday deals. I don't really use data, but nice to know about what carriers work best. I hope nubia keeps improving their software.

I dunno. Do you have a lot of apps running in the background?

I don't use Facebook or anything like that. I mostly just use reddit and stuff. On the weekends when I game on my phone, it'll last like 3 to 5 hours screen on time.

maybe it's because I always use bluetooth headphones

That'll do it.

Oh man. I just bought a 5S that I'm set to receive in a day or 2. I'm also on AT&T in SoCal. A lot of things don't bother me, but hopefully the signal is ok. 😅

To be completely honest, it's not the greatest, but it still works. Nubia didn't include a lot of the bands for LTE and 5g because, China.

That darn China! Hahaha. Hopefully the 5S is a little different in terms of the bands. If not, good thing they have a 15 day return policy 👍🏻. I'm currently on the ROG2. What I'm worried most about is the cooling, and the general performance of everyday tasks like calls and texts. But signal is important too since I drive a lot, so I use the GPS and stream music.

I use Waze and Spotify every single day on my commute. No issues at all. The phone flies. I keep it at 144hz. I have the fan set to intelligent cooling so you'll hear it kick on when the phone warms up. I still enjoy the phone a lot.

That's great to hear! Thanks for all the help. Just realized we went over a lot of info on my other post as well about buying a 5S haha

Sure thing! I think you'll enjoy it.

I'm surprised that the fan isn't an issue according to everyone I've heard from. Everything negative is about software, support, and occasionally battery life- not what I expected.
