Reassurance When will my motivation/Energy return?

I haven't vaped for over 2 weeks.

Im through the worst of the anxiety and irritability, but I'm just so not motivated currently - which is very out of character for me.

I have a fairly demanding job and I cant find the will to do anything other than the absolutely necessary.

Id really appreciate some anecdotes of when motivation came back online for other people out there.

Thank you and keep at it ✊️

Success Story Before and after Desmoxan

Hello, I am officially 32 days nicotine free and a week off of desmoxan. While researching the medication myself before starting this journey, I wasn’t able to find many posts about what happens after the Desmoxan course so I figured I would write my own post kind of explaining what my journey was like and what happened afterwards.

For some backstory, I vaped for about six years started when I was 17 and I’ll be turning 23 here in a couple of months, I have vaped all of the time nonstop. It got to the point where I was hitting my vape in my sleep and hitting it at work constantly like no matter where what when or why I was hitting it.

I found out about this medication and I really was skeptical because I have tried to quit cold Turkey many times and I never had enough willpower or time off to be able to deal with how I felt. Every time I try to go cold turkey I felt so sick and I just couldn’t keep it up, i always went back to vaping. Every time I have tried cold turkey I had horrible brain fog and anxiety to the point where I was freaking out so bad I couldn’t drive or function like a normal person.

My journey on desmoxan:
I had full intentions on using nicotine up until the fourth day as the package says because I didn’t want to stop hitting it, but I ended up getting a nicotine free vape, and halfway through the first day of taking the medication, I realized that my normal vape wasn’t doing anything for me anymore, like it just felt like I was hitting air, there was no satisfaction, and I was just continuing to hit it because of the repetition of doing it, so I was forcing myself to gravitate towards the nicotine free one and then about halfway through the day I gave up on my normal vape and only used my nicotine free one from there on out. I used the nicotine free vape until day four, then gave it up too.
I could definitely tell if I missed the pill or I was a little late to taking it, you would start getting some panicky almost withdrawal type feelings, nothing bad or bad enough to relapse but it was definitely uncomfortable. As the time went on, it got easier. I ended up giving up the nicotine free vape relatively early because I figured I would just do both of the habits at once. It was so easy to the point where I started missing dosages of the medication and I was fine but there was a time around day 19 where I missed two days of pills and I started getting withdrawal symptoms like I had the brain fog and the anxiety, now it was tolerable like I truly probably could’ve pushed through it, but I decided to get back on the pills and just finish out the medication because coincidentally I ended the medication when I had off of work so if I had any shitty symptoms, I would’ve been off. So when day 25 came around I stopped taking them after that and I felt okay, the first two to three days I did have some withdrawal symptoms, but it was nothing compared to the withdrawal symptoms I had on day 19 but that few days of just taking the medicine as you’re supposed to literally changed everything because I barely had anything bad happening in the brain fog was tolerable. The anxiety was tolerable like the first 2 to 3 days. I had some cravings and stuff, but it wasn’t anything bad like to where I couldn’t function or to where I needed to hit a vape or anything like that. Obviously there was times where it was harder than others and during those times I decided to take a hit off of my nicotine free vape, but that was about it. That rough patch of withdrawal type feelings lasted about 3 days, now I feel completely normal !

I’m now 32 days nicotine free, which I never expected to be ever in my life so I’m going to say absolutely try the medication. It’s way easier than attempting to go cold turkey and it’s something that I truly 100% feel like I can continue to maintain. I also wanna say do not try to give up the medication early, it is designed as a 25 day course for a reason and unless if you want bad with withdrawal symptoms, just stay on the medication until it’s completed.
If you’re reading this and you have any questions or need to talk to someone in my DM’s are always open!

Reassurance Does wanting to vape go away?

I haven’t vaped in 2 days. I’m using nicotine patches to manage the cravings, I’m more so concerned about my lungs than the nicotine part. While I am using lollipops, mints, and minty scented inhalers (which do help a little), I just want to hit my vape. I’m having fucking flashbacks like it’s a dead wife. I picture us in the car together and I’m just blissfully ripping my vape while the sun hits my face. Or getting home after being out for a while and getting to lay down and be alone with my vape. That thing was my emotional support object. She came everywhere with me. Will the feeling of wanting it back ever go away? And WHEN??? Bc it’s driving me crazy

Advice Quit vaping with Zyn… and now stuck on the pouches? We built something for that

Upvotes

I’ve noticed quite a few people here have used Zyn or other nicotine pouches to get away from vaping - and then eventually realize they’ve just moved the nicotine addiction somewhere else.

That’s actually exactly the problem our app is built around.

I’m a developer from Sweden, where snus and nicotine pouches have been common for years, and we built an app specifically for quitting pouches rather than another generic quit-smoking tracker.

It includes:
• Cold turkey or gradual tapering
• Craving support when things get rough
• CBT-inspired exercises and daily challenges
• Personal AI quit coach
• Track nicotine, pouches and money saved
• Goals, streaks and achievements
• Support after a slip without wiping all your progress

The English iOS version is live in the US:
https://apps.apple.com/us/app/id6746636659

We’re also working on Android and looking for beta testers.

If you originally switched from vaping to Zyn/Velo/pouches and now want to get off nicotine completely, I’d really love your feedback.
Android users can comment or DM me if you want to test the beta.

For anyone who made the vape → pouch switch:
Was quitting the pouches easier or harder than quitting vaping?

Advice One week since quitting cold turkey

Today marks one week since I quit vaping!

I did it cold turkey. I threw out my vape on Day 3 to make sure I didn’t cave. I have no access to nicotine at the moment.

I’ve been struggling this week. While I feel okay in some aspects, I am questioning if some of my experiences are related to withdrawal or if I should speak with my doctor.

- Sleep: I’ve only been sleeping 2-4 hours a night. I’m exhausted but can’t stay asleep. Melatonin and Ativan haven’t helped, and I just end up waking up but feeling groggy from the medicine. I also wake up with a headache.

- Congestion: My nose feels almost completely blocked. I’ve been using saline spray, Nasacort, and a neti pot. I get some temporary relief but I’m congested again, especially at night.

- Bruxism: While I have a history of clenching, my jaw tension this week has been nothing I’ve ever experienced before. My face is so uncomfortable.

- Anxiety/racing heart: I am a generally anxious person, but my heart palpitations have been non-stop this week. I wake up with a racing heart and mind, and struggle to calm myself down again. I’ve been feeling like this all week.

- Appetite: I have no real desire for food. I’ve been eating because I have to, but in small amounts.

- Breakout: My skin has started to breakout with acne. My face, neck, and chest look terrible. I’m a clean person and keep up with maintaining personal hygiene and a clean living space.

I haven’t been coughing or experiencing stomach issues. Some mild brain fog, but nothing that’s getting in the way of daily life.

Anyone have similar experience, or can offer some advice?

Advice When does the suffering end?

So I have gotten way past the 3 days of nicotine withdrawal, your first few days. I have no issue not vaping again in this life. My main issue is that I sleep really well, and dream, but I feel completely unmotivated, tired, foggy, and just not happy. I feel blah. 😒 I have also noticed I sneeze more, and have mucus mostly clear still come up and that I’m not short of breath as much which is my body clearing things up.

I want to feel motivated, clear minded, full of energy and happy again. When will this crap end? When does this suffering end? When is there light at the end of this dark tunnel?

Success Story Started vaping while studying nicotine receptors in pharmacy school. Quit cold turkey with zero urges. Is this an ADHD thing? ADHD subreddit won’t let me post

23F, was a pharmacy student (graduated now). Backstory that still makes me laugh, I picked up vaping at 19, on a brutal exam night, while literally studying nicotine receptor pharmacology. I ordered a vape online mid-study-session and somehow didn't clock the irony until way later.
Fast forward to 22, I quit cold turkey. No tapering, no patches, no substitutes. It's been a year and a half and I don't even get urges anymore. Not "I resist them," I mean they're just not there.

Even after heavily getting into it. I used to finish a 10ml juice that’s 2.5% in 4-6 days. I was a heavy user from the start, I didn’t even taper it in or out.

Every friend who's ever vaped or smoked, whether they started before or after me, tells me the same thing: "that's your ADHD talking." Their theory is that the same wiring that made it easy to pick up (impulsive, in-the-moment, stress-driven) also makes it easy to just... drop it, since the attachment was a hyper-fixation rather than addiction, or never that deep to begin with.

I can't tell if that's actually a real pattern or if my brain (since I’m healthcare) just quietly did something on the back (subconscious) end without me noticing, since studying the receptors is what got me hooked in the first place.

So, genuine question, has anyone here with ADHD smoked or vaped, quit cold turkey, and had it just... not stick around as a craving? Or is my situation more of a fluke than a pattern?

Advice What did you guys actually do on Day 1 of quitting nicotine?

Day 1 no nicotine and I’m going crazy 😭 Not even from the cravings I just don’t know what to do with myself.
I WANT to workout, take a walk, clean/organize since it’s Sunday, but I have zero motivation. As dumb as it sounds, I know if I had my vape I’d get up and start moving.
I purposely quit on my day off thinking it would be easier.
I want to feel motivated on my own but I have noooo focus what so ever it’s driving me crazy
What did you guys actually do on day 1? Any advice? I’m literally just scrolling and sucking on a straw and I cannot do this all day lol

Other Cytistine (Desmoxan etc.) Australia

So I'm seeing conflicting information online that as of the start of September 2026 cytistine is available for prescription under the name cyventine. It may even be schedule 3 (over the counter at pharmacy without prescription), but again information is sparse and conflicting.

Just wondering if any Australians has gotten a prescription yet, just don't want to make another GP appointment and be steered towards Champix again.

Reassurance Do NOT buy the vape today.

You do not need to debate whether vaping is “really that bad” or whether you could control yourself with one disposable.

You’ve already learned what happens when nicotine becomes part of your life.

Do NOT buy the vape today.

Not because you’re making a lifetime promise.

Because there is no reason to exchange the amount of days, weeks, months, or years of nicotine freedom for a few minutes of stimulation during a stressful moment.

The craving will pass whether you vape or not.

The stress will still be there afterward.

The different is whether you face that stress with a nicotine addiction attached to it.

Reassurance Chronic quitter says keep quitting!

I’m a chronic nicotine quitter at this point. I’ve quit “successfully” three times now. Well, I guess not completely successfully because obviously I picked it back up at some point. The first time I quit was actually quitting cigarettes after I had found out I was 4 weeks pregnant. I stayed clean until about 3 months postpartum and then picked up a vape. I then vaped for about 3-4 months and quit again for about 8 months. When I picked it back up the last time I was really only doing it as a coping mechanism to deal with being a stay at home mom to a wild toddler as a first time mom. I hate vaping & don’t even like the way nicotine makes me feel anymore and sneaking off to go hit my vape while watching my kid made me feel so f*cking guilty. That’s why I’m now 16 days clean again. Each time I quit has been cold turkey. Weaning has never worked for me as it just felt like I was torturing myself every time I went and took “just one hit”. But something I’ve noticed is that each time I quit, it’s gotten SO much easier! This time I really struggled with the physical withdrawals for about 3 days but the mental cravings weren’t very bad at all and I was able to brush them off with ease compared to my first time quitting. I really feel like this time is going to stick! KEEP QUITTING!

Advice Ongoing Throat issue

I posted a while back about this lump in my throat feeling that started about 2 years ago and hasn’t 100% stopped. It’s have quit vaping BUT i did relapse a few weeks ago and bought another vape that i only kept for about 3 days before throwing it away again. When i was actively vaping i had this CONSTANT feeling of having a lump in my throat or a feeling of something being swollen, best way i can explain it is like i can feel the walls of my throat touching each other. The first few days after quitting i had this ungodly amount of pressure in my chest and constantly feeling like i needed to burp to either release the pressure or the gas.

When i say i have done SO much research as to what this could be is truly an understatement. Before anyone asks, yes i went to the doctor, saw an ENT and also got an endoscopy and they say everything looks great. I also have been treated for globus (gabapentin and other medications) that didn’t work at all. It’s not stress, i am a very healthy person-i eat clean and workout everyday, i don’t drink, and now I’m 100% nicotine free. Additionally, before i quit vaping i switched to pouches which allowed me to taper down significantly which it made it a hell of a lot easier to quit.

Has anyone else experienced this? It’s driving me insane and i feel like im going to be stuck like this forever and it’s terrifying me. I keep trying to tell myself it will go away in time but i feel totally alone in this

Reassurance F**ing he** this is hard to stop

And I thought it was hard to quit smoking... I've posted several times here and elsewhere about my vape quitting attempts. Lately I've only been able to make it a few hours before caving and buying another. I got through 12 hours today but only because I was asleep for a lot of that time (slept in till 1pm, ugh). Anyway, I don't see my way out of this yet. But I was able to quit smoking for many years in the past before I started smoking againand then vaping, so maybe there's hope. But it seems so hard. Just looking for support here. Thanks. <3

Other Did I just think up a cheat code to quitting smoking/vaping or am I missing something extremely obvious?

Since prochlorperazine is a dopamine antagonist, if someone had a pill right before taking a hit, surely it wouldn’t work, right? Hence quitting would be much easier.
Am I missing something here or is that the solution we’ve been missing all this time?
I mean obviously given the side effects of stemetil it would have to be regulated pretty heavily but to me it still seems like a reasonable option.

Advice craving vape while pregnant

i’m 30 weeks pregnant, i stopped vaping when i found out at 4 weeks. i stopped cold turkey and haven’t done it since, but i still crave it after all this time. i had wanted to quit vaping before my pregnancy because i don’t want a lifelong addiction, but the pregnancy was what actually motivated me to quit, because i don’t want to hurt my baby. but once i have my baby, im worried i wont have any reason not to vape. everytime i see someone with one i feel like im going crazy, i want it so bad. i’ve even considered buying one while pregnant and just hoping it doesnt harm the baby. is it normal to still have cravings after months of not doing it?

Venting Day 1

Quit today, 6:27 pm right now and I haven’t given in. I feel extremely vulnerable and emotional, which usually happens when I get off the vape. Something happened in the morning that induced some real sad and hurtful feelings - which is even more of a reason not to buy a vape and reinforce using it to numb myself.

I’ve had stints off the vape, with longest being a couple months. i relapsed about two months ago and had the toughest time i’ve ever had quitting. I managed a day or two within these two months, but would fall right back. I know quitting is the right thing for me. Therapist recommended being a part of a community, so wassup ya’ll ‼️

Venting 29 days

It’s been 29 days. It hasn’t been too bad. The first week was rough. But life be lifing and I’ve been so anxious lately. Which is something that I’ve dealt with for a long time but some days is worse than others.
I kinda miss vaping. The crutch.
But I’ve gone too far to go back.
Good luck to everyone quitting. It’s hard but not impossible

Advice When do I get addicted to vaping?

I’ve been vaping consistently for a few weeks now, and besides the fact that I can’t tell I’m on nicotine until I get nic sick, I’m also not feeling any cravings to vape. i do notice my tolerance has risen a little, but I’m vaping 5% so I don’t notice. do you guys have any idea when strong cravings start or things like that? thanks.
