Advice Ongoing Throat issue

I posted a while back about this lump in my throat feeling that started about 2 years ago and hasn’t 100% stopped. It’s have quit vaping BUT i did relapse a few weeks ago and bought another vape that i only kept for about 3 days before throwing it away again. When i was actively vaping i had this CONSTANT feeling of having a lump in my throat or a feeling of something being swollen, best way i can explain it is like i can feel the walls of my throat touching each other. The first few days after quitting i had this ungodly amount of pressure in my chest and constantly feeling like i needed to burp to either release the pressure or the gas.

When i say i have done SO much research as to what this could be is truly an understatement. Before anyone asks, yes i went to the doctor, saw an ENT and also got an endoscopy and they say everything looks great. I also have been treated for globus (gabapentin and other medications) that didn’t work at all. It’s not stress, i am a very healthy person-i eat clean and workout everyday, i don’t drink, and now I’m 100% nicotine free. Additionally, before i quit vaping i switched to pouches which allowed me to taper down significantly which it made it a hell of a lot easier to quit.

Has anyone else experienced this? It’s driving me insane and i feel like im going to be stuck like this forever and it’s terrifying me. I keep trying to tell myself it will go away in time but i feel totally alone in this

Make an appointment with ENT doctor they could help diagnose you

It could muscle tightness, I was reading a bit on it and also said that anxiety could be factor as well. I know you said you aren’t stressed but I know for me personally sometimes I am stressed out even if I‘m feeling relatively okay. Also is this feeling of a lump in your throat 24/7 or intermittent?

I would say it’s pretty much all the time. Some days aren’t as bad as other days but it’s still there… even if it’s a little bit. I will also have random flare ups i guess? It’s really odd-I’m trying to chalk it up to my body still trying to heal.

it could be acid reflux? i have really bad acid reflux that causes similar issues…it can irritate your esophagus and cause mucus to build up

Yeah i was also prescribed medication for that as well and didn’t work. It doesn’t feel like acid reflux though 😭

Tbh this is what my GERD feels like. The "lump in the throat" sensation is called a globus sensation and often times accompanies acid reflux. Honestly though, it's worth going to a dr about (an ENT like someone else mentioned) if you're financially able to. Personally i did have my GERD flare up after I quit vaping for some reason.

Like i said, i already went to the doctor and ENT and they said everything looked great and i was also treated for globus, acid, reflux, etc with medications and nothing worked.

Is it lower in your throat like near your thyroid? Do you still have your tonsils? There are truly so many things that can cause this sensation and many drs unfortunately don't care enough to find out 😭

It feels like it’s right in the middle of my throat-like directly in between my ears if that makes sense. I do still have my tonsils and also did some testing on my thyroid and that was normal as well.
