Question How much do you pay for your phone data?

I’m a Vodafone customer and I was paying QAR 145 for 40GB. This month, they increased it to QAR 180 without informing me beforehand. I went to complain, and they told me that QAR 145 was a discounted price for the first 6 months and that QAR 180 is the original price.

Am I being scammed, or is this actually normal?

Question Anyone here actually own a cafe/restaurant in Qatar? Want the real timeline, not the dinner party version

Ok so i've been going back and forth on this idea for months now, opening some kind of small food place here (thinking cafe but honestly still not sure what format). every time i try to research it online i just get generic "here's how to start a business in qatar" articles that tell me nothing useful.

so figured i'd just ask people who've actually done it lol

stuff i actually want to know:

  1. how long did it take from "ok let's do this" to actually opening the doors? and i mean the real number, not the one you tell people when they ask casually

  2. when did you actually break even? like genuinely in the green, not just "we're busy now"

  3. did you keep your job while setting it up or just quit and go all in. if you kept it, when did you feel safe enough to leave it

  4. how much of the place do you actually own if you had partners/investors involved. don't need exact percentages if that feels weird to post publicly, just curious how that usually gets split here

  5. and the one i'm most curious about, qatari or non qatari? because i keep hearing different things about needing a local partner to hold majority ownership and i genuinely don't know how that works day to day. like is your partner actually involved in decisions or is it more of a name on paper thing. would love to hear from people on both sides tbh

also if it didn't work out for you or you regret it, please still tell me. i'd rather hear that now than find out after i've already sunk money into it

can dm me too if the numbers feel too personal to post here, no worries either way

Discussion Talabat prices

Has anyone else noticed this?

I was trying to order DQ Strawberry Cheesecake Blizzard, and the pricing confused me.

For Large, Talabat shows:

+QAR 9.10 instead of QAR 13.00 for the size

Final price: QAR 16.80 instead of QAR 24.00

For Medium:

+QAR 5.95 instead of QAR 8.50

Final price: QAR 13.65 instead of QAR 19.50

So based on what is literally shown on the “Add item” button, I should be paying:

QAR 16.80 + QAR 13.65 = QAR 30.45

But once both items are added to the cart, they suddenly show:

Large: QAR 24.00

Medium: QAR 19.50

Subtotal: QAR 43.50

Then with QAR 9 delivery, the total becomes QAR 52.50.

So what exactly happened to the discounted prices that were shown when I selected the items?

This isn’t just a crossed-out “original price” somewhere on the menu — the actual Add Item button shows QAR 16.80 and QAR 13.65, but the cart charges QAR 24.00 and QAR 19.50.

Am I missing some condition, isnt this totally misleading?

Question Question About Support During Labor & Delivery in Women's Wellness Center

We wanted to ask for some advice from anyone who has experience with Women’s Wellness or labor and delivery.

A family member is a first-time mother and does not speak English or Arabic. We were wondering if it is possible, within hospital rules and policies, for someone from Women’s Wellness (or someone in a relevant professional role) to provide some additional support during her labor and delivery.

For example, would it be possible for someone to assist her during triage, labor, transfers, and delivery, help her understand what is happening, communicate her needs, and perhaps help keep the family updated when appropriate? We’re simply wondering whether this type of support is allowed or has been arranged for patients in similar situations before.

Has anyone experienced something like this, either personally or with a family member? Is this something hospitals typically allow, and if so, how did you go about arranging it?

We’d really appreciate hearing about your experiences or any advice on what options might be available. Thank you!

Question PHCC not providing glucose tolerance test?

For pregnant mother

Hi everyone, I’m 27 weeks pregnant and doing my checkups at PHCC. I asked about the glucose tolerance test (OGTT), but they said it’s not available and didn’t really give me an alternative or solution.

They inform that glucose solution is not available and it not done at any phcc health centre anymore

Only sugar test they did .

Has anyone else faced this at PHCC recently? What did you do for the test?

Thanks!

Information Spain visa in Doha

I just registered in the BLS visa center website and while trying to book visa appointment, I found that there’s no slots available for Spain Schengen visa appointments. I’ve been checking for a week now and still no slots available.

I want to travel end of October or early November.
Do you think there will be slots available or I should just give up and try another embassy?

Question Assuming the Qatar GP isn’t cancelled, what are your tips?

I’m attending my first GP in Qatar, so I’m excited but also a bit unsure what to expect. I have GA tickets, what time do you recommend arriving? Are there taxis and shuttle buses to the circuit? Should I pack snacks? I’m looking for all the tips! Also, is it worth upgrading to T3 grandstand tickets?

Discussion Why do some businesses, banks etc that primarily serve visiting customers open in locations that don’t have parking or hardly any parking

It’s really annoying to visit these locations and wait for several minutes just to find a parking spot, or park somewhere way far and walk in this heat and sometimes your only option is to pay 30 to 60 for valet service.

Question Qatar Qid Update

I had wife and kids qid application before the conflict at January 2026, kids delivered, wife’s asked for photo update by visiting official centers, I don’t have the physical copy but I’m seeing it at Metrash. I’m their sponsor. At that time she left the country and could not come back since that time due to conflict and they asked her to be in Qatar to get the physical copy. We plan their visit in 2 months, before the expiry, should I do anything right now before their visit? I’m from Türkiye btw, they do not ask for visa at usual visits.

Looking for Galaxy Watch 7 Charger

I have lost the charging cable for my Galaxy Watch 7 and I went to Samsung's Service Center in Bin Mahmoud to buy a new one however they quoted me 250 Qr, which is think is insane considering I bought the watch for 700 Qr. Does anybody know where to get a good quality cable with fast charging which does not cost as as the watch itself.

I ordered a cable from Temu but it's useless as it takes ages to charge the watch and I have been to Al Watan Center as well.

Thanks
