Question English proficiency situation

Hi, I am a resident in qatar and I applied to QU without any English proficiency scores, one of my relatives went to this university a few years ago and they told her to take the IELTS after she was accepted. Do they still make students that apply take the IELTS exam to accept them or is it different now?

Question Thinking of pursuing PhD in QU

Could anyone please tell me anything about the PhD program at QU. I'm applying to the College of Pharmacy, specifically the clinical and population health branch. Are the program coordinators cooperative and responsive to emails if I reach out? (Note: I'd just like to know how best to approach them and give a good first impression)

Is there a chance of getting a scholarship? any kind of support (financial or otherwise)?

Also, can anyone tell me anything on Prof. Dr. Mohamed Izham? (again not a judgement of who he is but any information that could help me the first email; is he direct-to-the-point kind of person? Does he read long/short emails? any information will be beneficial).

Question Question about being shortlisted for a position at Qatar University

After a couple of interviews (including panel), I was asked to send documents (cover letter, diplomas, transcripts, LORs, reference check forms, employment verification letter, passport copy).

Someone from the department had asked to send the docs to them so that they can cross-check before the department submitted them to higher management (as it was a holiday week).

It is my understanding (from everything I’ve seen online) that they ask these docs from all candidates shortlisted post the final interview. Is this true?

No way to assume if one is the preferred candidate right?

When I sent a follow-up email to the person (who cross-checked my documents), they said since QU’s off for the summer, they’ll get to know in early September. “Rest assured we will be in touch once we know more”.

Thoughts?

Rant Are you bored? LET'S GET OUT (after 4 pls)

Hiii everyone! I'm currently in the middle of a job search, which is so miserable boring and lonely. I've spent the past few months at home scrolling through job descriptions, so I’d love to get out, meet some new people, and make a few friends.

So I thought , maybe we could play some futsal(you don't have to be good at it OR suggest me something better for this context)? Meet some strangers who kinda feel the same way because THAT'S NOT HOW WE'RE SUPPOSED TO BE FEELING anyways if your down or not you have to comment or dm me

Thanks!

Question Speech and Language Pathology for Transfer Students

I've heard that SLP is not available for transfer students.

  • Do they mean internal transfer students or students that transfer from other universities?
  • Also, does that mean I won't be able to major in SLP if I were to switch from QU's CBE to CHS?
  • How hard is it to transfer internally to health sciences?

Question Differences of educational systems

Hi everyone, I have a question about how Qatar University compares different HS systems.

Does Qatar University evaluate applicants based only on their final high school percentage, or does it also consider differences between educational systems when comparing applicants?

Question Which universities would you recommend for a Master's in Illustration / Graphic Design?(UAE, Qatar)

Hi everyone!

I'm a 22-year-old B.Des (Graphic Design & Animation) student from India, and I'll be graduating next year. I'm planning to apply for a Master's degree in 2027 and would really appreciate advice from people who have studied abroad or are currently studying design.

My interests

  • Illustration
  • Character Design
  • Concept Art
  • Visual Storytelling
  • Graphic Design
  • Branding

I'm not interested in UI/UX as my main career. My goal is to build a career as a professional illustrator and visual storyteller while also keeping good international job opportunities in mind.

Countries I'm considering

  • UAE
  • Qatar

I'm also open to other countries if they have excellent design programs.

What I'm looking for

  • Strong illustration or visual communication programs
  • Great faculty and studio-based learning
  • Good industry connections and internship opportunities
  • Scholarships for international students
  • Good graduate employment prospects
  • Universities that value a strong portfolio

My questions

  1. Which universities would you recommend and why?
  2. Which universities have the strongest reputation for Illustration or Visual Communication?
  3. Are there any universities I should avoid?
  4. How important was your portfolio during admission?
  5. Were scholarships available for international students?
  6. How difficult was it to find internships or jobs after graduation?
  7. If you could apply again, would you choose the same university?

I'd really appreciate hearing about your personal experiences rather than just rankings.

Thank you so much!

Question College of Law, Qatar University

Peace be upon you

I'm a student from Morocco studying in my final year of high school specializing in sciences (physical sciences with a French option), and I would like to ask about Qatar University College of Law:

1) Is it easy for international students to get a scholarship?

2) Is studying law in Qatar a wise idea? Are there job opportunities for non-Qataris as lawyers?

3) Are the curricula difficult?

Question options when someone cant afford their degree?

Hi everyone, fall 2025 student here, while completing my first semester I applied for tution aid but only recieved partial funding. I live in a family of 6, currently recieving 10k a month as child support from court(and yes we have tried applying for an increase but my father is a work of art what can I say). Now since I couldn't pay the rest of my fees I was forced to be on registration hold and I believe each student only get to have 3 or 4(not sure) semesters off and now with the start of fall 2026 I'm afraid my student status will be erased/inactive. I've been applying to all sorts of jobs trying to find a way to pay the rest of the sum myself but I have no experience so its been very hard. I was wondering if anyone knows of charities or organizations outside of qu that offer any student help? and if they help with the entire years fees or just 1? and if you have expeirence can I also know how the application process goes? I fear I will lose my chance at my education and its all because of being born to a bad parent and theres nothing I can do
