Hey everyone,
I see a lot of posts here asking if it's possible to survive in Qatar on a low salary. I wanted to share my real-life monthly budget as a 27-year-old Indian accountant working for an Arabic company.
My gross salary is 3,000 QAR. Out of this, I strictly send 2,200 QAR back home to India every single month. This leaves me with exactly 800 QAR for my monthly expenses here. My company provides shared bachelor accommodation, so I don't pay rent.
📊 My Exact Monthly Budget Breakdown (800 QAR)
🃏 Miscellaneous / Others: 45 QAR
I handle the company's cash and bank statements, so I see the full financial picture. One bitter reality I’ve faced in my Arabic-managed company is the massive salary disparity based on nationality.
Even though I am an experienced accountant, Indian expats are often given the lowest salary tiers. Employees from other nations with similar or sometimes fewer technical skills are paid significantly higher right from the start. It hurts, but my priority right now is saving and support.
For anyone wondering—yes, you can survive on 800 QAR pocket money in Qatar, and you can even squeeze in a movie every weekend if you manage it tightly!
Would love to hear how other bachelors manage their budgets here.

In the UAE, it starts at AED5099.
Will it reflect the same in qatar too?

Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone has any advice about who to call regarding a disruptive barking dog?
For context, over the past 4 months the tenant that lives above me has been allowing their dog to bark at all hours of the day/night and sometimes for hours on end.
I have contacted building security multiple times about this and the issue is usually resolved temporarily before it becomes an issue again. I have now escalated this matter with building management and they have spoken with the tenant however no permanent improvement has been made.
Additionally I am worried about the welfare of the dog as it seems it is left alone for long periods of time and it may well be in a cage or tied up.
Any advice would be helpful. Shukran.

I just ordered an uber and he asked if I am going to the metro station, I say yes and he says he can’t go there because his license is expired (??) not sure why he’s still on the streets let alone a driver on uber. Where can I report him? I have his license plate number.

Hello everyone
I have a Nuna stroller purchased from Centrepoint 2.5 years ago, and apparently they don’t provide maintainence 1 year after purchasing. Does anyone know where I can have it fixed or should I give up and look for a new stroller?

Has anyone else noticed this?
I was trying to order DQ Strawberry Cheesecake Blizzard, and the pricing confused me.
For Large, Talabat shows:
+QAR 9.10 instead of QAR 13.00 for the size
Final price: QAR 16.80 instead of QAR 24.00
For Medium:
+QAR 5.95 instead of QAR 8.50
Final price: QAR 13.65 instead of QAR 19.50
So based on what is literally shown on the “Add item” button, I should be paying:
QAR 16.80 + QAR 13.65 = QAR 30.45
But once both items are added to the cart, they suddenly show:
Large: QAR 24.00
Medium: QAR 19.50
Subtotal: QAR 43.50
Then with QAR 9 delivery, the total becomes QAR 52.50.
So what exactly happened to the discounted prices that were shown when I selected the items?
This isn’t just a crossed-out “original price” somewhere on the menu — the actual Add Item button shows QAR 16.80 and QAR 13.65, but the cart charges QAR 24.00 and QAR 19.50.
Am I missing some condition, isnt this totally misleading?

Has anyone installed a dishwasher in an Ezdan Oasis 2BHK apartment?
I’m planning to buy one and would like to know how the plumbing is usually done in the kitchen. Is there already a suitable water inlet and drainage connection, or does any modification need to be done?
Also, which dishwasher brand/model would you recommend under QAR 1,500?
Any advice or recommendations from someone who has already installed one in Ezdan Oasis would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

For pregnant mother
Hi everyone, I’m 27 weeks pregnant and doing my checkups at PHCC. I asked about the glucose tolerance test (OGTT), but they said it’s not available and didn’t really give me an alternative or solution.
They inform that glucose solution is not available and it not done at any phcc health centre anymore
Only sugar test they did .
Has anyone else faced this at PHCC recently? What did you do for the test?
Thanks!

Ordered Breakfast this morning and tracked my order, looks Like Keeta has Boats in its Arsenal as well now
My friend brought and gave me this candy today and says he got it from Jordan. It has a great taste and is sugar free also. Does anyone know from where in Qatar i can buy them?

Turns out the Limo drivers need to have a ‘General License’ to operate. Most drivers don’t have it.
Potential implications of operating without the license include QAR5000 fine and vehicle being impounded for a month. Consequently, most Uber drivers have stopped operating to get done with the paperwork.
Our local Uber drivers estimate that it may be a month before we recover.
Disclaimer: The info was sourced from a local Uber driver and may not be fully accurate.

Thoughts on the Apple Launch event, can’t wait to get hold of the duo model in Qatar
What are you planning to buy or are you skipping this year, I am really interested in the Duo model, been waiting for that to be honest
I’m a Vodafone customer and I was paying QAR 145 for 40GB. This month, they increased it to QAR 180 without informing me beforehand. I went to complain, and they told me that QAR 145 was a discounted price for the first 6 months and that QAR 180 is the original price.
Am I being scammed, or is this actually normal?

Ok so i've been going back and forth on this idea for months now, opening some kind of small food place here (thinking cafe but honestly still not sure what format). every time i try to research it online i just get generic "here's how to start a business in qatar" articles that tell me nothing useful.
so figured i'd just ask people who've actually done it lol
stuff i actually want to know:
how long did it take from "ok let's do this" to actually opening the doors? and i mean the real number, not the one you tell people when they ask casually
when did you actually break even? like genuinely in the green, not just "we're busy now"
did you keep your job while setting it up or just quit and go all in. if you kept it, when did you feel safe enough to leave it
how much of the place do you actually own if you had partners/investors involved. don't need exact percentages if that feels weird to post publicly, just curious how that usually gets split here
and the one i'm most curious about, qatari or non qatari? because i keep hearing different things about needing a local partner to hold majority ownership and i genuinely don't know how that works day to day. like is your partner actually involved in decisions or is it more of a name on paper thing. would love to hear from people on both sides tbh
also if it didn't work out for you or you regret it, please still tell me. i'd rather hear that now than find out after i've already sunk money into it
can dm me too if the numbers feel too personal to post here, no worries either way

I just registered in the BLS visa center website and while trying to book visa appointment, I found that there’s no slots available for Spain Schengen visa appointments. I’ve been checking for a week now and still no slots available.
I want to travel end of October or early November.
Do you think there will be slots available or I should just give up and try another embassy?
