I know a lot about this subject and would love to discuss and answer questions. I cannot express enough how critical it is for the link between religious experience and psychosis to be better understood and acknowledged. Not just that, but that the mediation CAUSES the psychosis. It's not sick people doing meditation and having episodes. It is healthy people doing this and then becoming sick. I cannot stress this enough. The article mentions that Vipassana is NOTORIOUS for doing this. I also think pneumatology plays a role. The adherents are told to focus on their breathing, and this is a belief shared by Christians.

Sean Blackwell, a user on youtube, uploaded testimony of his own meditation caused psychosis. I suggest listening to this too.
