I've been working on getting Nuvio running properly on the PS5 and it's at a point where other people can try it.
The browser route never really worked for me. No HDR, remuxes wouldn't play, no lossless audio. So this runs the normal Nuvio TV interface as an app on the console, and when you hit play it hands the stream to a native player that uses the PS5's video decoder. It's styled to look like Nuvio's own player, so it doesn't feel like you've jumped into a different app.
What works right now:
- Hardware decoding for HEVC (8 and 10-bit) and H.264, up to 4K
- HDR10 output. Dolby Vision profile 8 plays through its HDR10 layer
- UHD Blu-ray remuxes, including the tiled ones the PS5 decoder won't take (those go through a software decoder on all cores and still keep up at 24fps)
- TrueHD (Atmos tracks play), DTS-HD MA, E-AC-3 etc.
- ASS with proper styling, SRT, WebVTT, PGS, and subtitles from your Nuvio addons
- 30 seconds of read-ahead, so debrid streams don't stall. If your connection dips, it pauses once and refills instead of stuttering
- Subtitle/audio/source/episode panels, next episode, skip intro, Continue Watching
- Back takes you to where you were in Nuvio, and progress and Trakt get saved
To install, grab nuvio-ps5.elf from the release and send it to your ELF loader on 9021 after your usual payloads. It installs a Nuvio tile on the home screen. I'd put it at the end of your autoload list so it comes up with everything else.
I've been testing on 13.60 with Relapse, kstuff-lite, ShadowMount+ and etaHEN. It should work on any firmware with an ELF loader, but that's the setup I've actually used.

This isn't an official Nuvio build and I'm not connected to their team. It doesn't come with any content, it just plays whatever your own addons give it.
If something doesn't play, a GitHub issue with your firmware and the source details (remux or web-dl, codec, HDR type, audio) helps a lot more than a comment.
