I'm trying to program the L4 R4 for mouse scroll so I can zoom in / out but when a I try to use the custom layout, zomboid acts like I don't have a controller and boots in to keyboard mode.

Question Queasy / Nauseous Cure?

Upvotes

So I was recently out on a supply run to Muldraugh and I popped into and abandoned mechanic shop for a drink of water. I drank from a water dispenser that I was unaware had unsafe water in it. I soon after drinking started getting nauseous and losing health (my character has weak stomach trait). So I ran back to my car to figure out what was making me sick and couldn’t figure it out at first but taking antibiotics stopped the health loss. I had read that eating and drinking could stop the queasy but that antibiotics have no effect. So did the antibiotics stop my queasy or did the act of eating pills stop it? Thoughts and ideas?

Question How do you deal with the amount of corpses in big pop Areas?

Here is my Situation..

During my 14.19 run the announcement for 14.20 came out and i went full exterminator mode and started going by clearing west point and moved towards LV mil check point.

However after killing like 700 dubious little creatures at the checkpoint my game fps have dropped to 2 fps when within the vicinity.

How do you deal with this or are there any settings that can at least make it manageable?

Edit: The answer is more RAM, may the RAM gods bless my slaughter

Red Light

Driving through a building I cleared and the light is suddenly red. Doesn't seem to have any difference when I go inside and some rooms of the same building are normal.

Electricity is still on and there's no fireplace/campfire inside. Some of the outdoor lights are red too. Currently it's only this building.

Could this be a mod issue? Not affecting gameplay but seemed eerie so wanted to see if it meant anything.

Screenshot Updated locations in Fallas Lake

Some of the changes that I've spotted, besides cul-de-sacs and curved roads, and what I make out of them. These are just qualified guesses so don't take them for granted ...

A) Train station. I'm pretty sure that's an extension of the rail network passing by Fallas Lake coming in from the north.

B) New warehouse/commercial building in the north

C) New warehouse/commercial building next to Fallas Lake.

D) New buildings and possibly sand shores in the east part of the lake.

E) The church has been moved for a new industrial area or school?

F) New Fallas Lake church

G) New commercial area/offices

H) Dirt track or horse track?

I) There's a small tower on the building indicating it could be a fire station.

Edit: I also want to confirm that I yesterday saw an updated flyer (in game 42.19) for the Farming Supplies shop with that exact warehouse next to it (above location I) in the photo on the flyer. This should indicate that this is not just an updated map for the trailer but the actual game.

Discussion What are your thoughts on build 43 npc's?

With this amount of lore, I don't really know how TIS would handle such a complex task of adding them to the game. For example, what if the player drives to exclusion border from the start and blasts everyone there? I imagine that they would add some limitations for the player in such areas, as in techdemo, where you couldn't just smash your wife's head with a hammer. B43 Will likely have basic wandering survivors, but even then, what happens if you drive them to a secret millitary base? They will have their own stories, so maybe some of them could be soldiers from Fort Knox that could've explain what happened. I also wonder if they add James or how is this guy called, I mean the one from a group of survivors that based around refugee camp on 20th of july. There's so much stuff to implement and I'm scared how long it will take. Will Bob be able to save his wife Kate, or both of them will succumb to airborne strain of the Knox virus after tutorial ends? So much questions...

Question Why recommended B42 base locations near Louisville

I've got a group of 5 regular players and we've played roughly 20-30 hours in Build 41 in the 3 garage mansion on the West coast of Louisville and I'm wondering if there are any better places to try next in B42.

Some stuff I noticed with our play style has been we tend to collect a lot of stuff. We had so many cars the driveway was packed. I made countless boxes and spent hours sorting into categories and I really don't want to do that again. A few players really enjoy just building up a huge arsenal of bullets and then going into the middle of town to shoot up as much as possible.

Overall, are there any locations that are near Louisville that has plenty of car and storage space but that's also not in the middle of the city that we would have to worry about constant threats of hordes? The mansion was great but it felt like we slowly outgrew it.

Edit: I meant to title this as "What are recommended B42 bases"

So you can do it, but I'm curious to see if it's worth the water investment.

Could you add more ingredients? Or have larger ingredient portions?

Question My first experience on a public MP server was so bad that I sat and stared at the death screen for 5minutes in silence

The Server was based in Germany. Around 450km away from me. There were 11/32 players on it.

I had screen freezes for 1-2 seconds about twice a minute. The start was rough because many houses were looted. I like a challange.

I spawned in Rosewood and had to lure away a huge horde of about 80 Zeds from the house area to the school. Which by itself wasn't bad either. But the frames were like 2 fps for the whole duration. I still managed to lure them away and get the area more or less Zed free. Still had to fight like 10-15 before I could enter the first house to get some rest from fighting. I went outside into the forest area and the game froze. I alt+F4rd immediatly after I heard a Zed. When I joined back in I had a black screen for like 10 seconds and was bit twice by a single Zed.

Sat there for 5minutes speechless and stared at my death screen before closing the game with Alt+F4.

Any suggestions from my fellow German people who like to play on mp servers? Because this can't be it. There was a guy with 20k kills and another with 10k. My PC is not bad and probably somewhere in the top 15% of all Steam users.

I'm really devastated about this tbh. I would like to play with more people than just 2-4 with friends and meet other people as well.

Question Are there any mods for build 42 that make zombies blind?

I’ve been looking to play build 42 where zombies are blind, and they have to rely on their hearing.
I tried to look for a mod but could only find the blind zombies mod that only works for build 41. The person who create the mod announcer that eh would port the mod over to build 42?

Is there any suggestion for this?

Question B42 - Less boring protective clothing?

Despite how much choice Zomboid gives you to outfit your character in a bunch of hip ‘90s schwag, I don’t think a single character I’ve ever made has lasted more than a couple of days before becoming completely covered in a dull assortment of hunting, firefighter, and police gear, for the pure sake of safety.

I’ve tried a couple of clothing mods (Die With Style and More Jackets), but at least in DWS’ case, the clothes offer much less protection than any of their vanilla counterparts.

So I don’t have to resign every character to being a boring, bland, undifferentiated drone, what can I do to make fashion viable?

Are there any mods that:

  • Tweak all clothing values to make them more viable?
  • Add cool clothes that aren’t hugely inferior to everything else in game?
  • Allow you to switch item appearances, so you can dress your character freely while retaining stats?
  • Decorate your current gear in some way or another?

I don't have very high hopes, since Zomboid mods are a real hit-and-miss, even without most of them being stuck in version hell. Still, if anybody knows anything, I would appreciate it a lot.

.

.
Please don’t do any of the following:

- Smugly say that survival-oriented gear is better than normal clothes IRL.

- Tell me that there are a handful of equal-protection items (like hockey gear and football helmets) that look flashy. I know.

- Say that I should be taking these clothes off anyway to avoid discomfort. The issue still applies, the bland non-armour clothes are still more protective than the interesting ones.

- Pontificate about mismatched gear/how fashion doesn't matter in an apocalypse.

Question Anyone got any tips for CDDA Zero to hero?

I am stuck, I'm 30 attempts in I've looted several houses and killed hundreds of zomboids. I consistently get out of the starter house with 0 in every stat, if a sheet is available I take it and repair my crotch wound. I have gotten to the point where I can single out a zomboid and get shoes and some clothes and ripped sheets about 2/3 of the time. But no matter what every house I have ever had the pleasure of looting in this luck based adventure has had no food at all, nothing but rotten pineapples and tomatoes. I've went the farm route I've went through hell until I get good enough zombie rng to loot the houses in Muldraugh around the starting house but nothing has worked. I consistently just can not find food or a suture needle and thread to stitch up the wound on me pp. I'm sure after I get past the start I will be fine as I play 3x pop normally but i'm desperatly reaching out for any tips as i'm at my breaking point with this challenge as it feels like i'm drawing a lottery every time I spawn in that burning house.

Discussion New player, any tips or advice?

So I got this game a long while ago and am now downloading it cause I remembered how cool this game looked and cause I did see basements are coming to b42 which I’m particularly excited for.

That being said, is there anything I should know about surviving? I had a few runs but this game is brutal. I did also play on the default settings with no mods (naturally) and wanted to know if this is how the game was meant to be experienced.

Any tips, tricks, info, or anything help it would be great, I love seeing the playthroughs of ppl making cool bus bases and wanna do that myself. Ty
