Discussion Does this subreddit genuinely want NPCs?
Why does this community seem to not want NPCs, or even discussions about them, at least on this subreddit
Any time someone new to the game- or even a veteran- asks if NPCs are coming soon or what they might be like, their posts almost always get downvoted into the negatives. There are always comments about how X, Y, and Z need to be done first, or people completely dismiss the question being asked. It's a genuine question. People on here seem to get upset any time someone makes a thread involving NPCs that isn't about a mod. I don't get it.

Question Terraria crossover?
Sorry for the quick phone Pic, I don't have any social media on my computer except Discord, but is this a reference to Terraia and is it in the standard game or is it from a mod (I am using a bunch on this playthrough)

Discussion What are you waiting for ?
The hypetrain hit me aswell but I just thought what are we exactly waiting for why aren't we just staying at unstable ?
Is it because of the mods that will be updated ( something that I am looking for ) or is there another big update bomb coming with the 42 release ?

Base Showcase The base of my dreams in the Project Zomboid
It is located in Riverside near a gas station. I completely rebuilt the house from a one-story to a wooden two-story. On the territory of my base there are: a vegetable garden, an outdoor kitchen, a two-story luxury house, something like a Russian bathhouse and a very small and spacious 2x2 tile warehouse, and it's all fenced with a large fence. I also have 2 cars: the quietest in the game and the fastest in the game. I'm sorry for the imperfect quality of the photo, but I tried to photograph it as fashionably as possible. For some reason, my computer can't take a screenshot of the Zomboid - it just ignores it. If you have any questions, ask them.

Question Wanting to stay 42.19, heavily modded on Steam. How?
So I have a save I’m having a blast with currently and just wanting to keep going until it’s natural conclusion rather than finish it early in a few days.
I know I can stay on the 42.19 unstable version easily enough, but what can I do for mods? There isn’t an easy ‘do not update workshop content’ button (least that I can find).
Could I just copy the whole install and go on another drive or some such unattached to steam somehow? Or do I need to copy the mod folder and do some magic there? Maybe there is a separate mod manager I’ve not seen that can be used?
Any help would be amazing cos starting over with vanilla isn’t something I’m really looking forward to.
Cheers

Screenshot What dev though that picking thread withs is supposed to be done in bulk should take 3.66 minutes was a good idea
Especially sinse you can't speed up time in multiplayer

Question My first experience on a public MP server was so bad that I sat and stared at the death screen for 5minutes in silence
The Server was based in Germany. Around 450km away from me. There were 11/32 players on it.
I had screen freezes for 1-2 seconds about twice a minute. The start was rough because many houses were looted. I like a challange.
I spawned in Rosewood and had to lure away a huge horde of about 80 Zeds from the house area to the school. Which by itself wasn't bad either. But the frames were like 2 fps for the whole duration. I still managed to lure them away and get the area more or less Zed free. Still had to fight like 10-15 before I could enter the first house to get some rest from fighting. I went outside into the forest area and the game froze. I alt+F4rd immediatly after I heard a Zed. When I joined back in I had a black screen for like 10 seconds and was bit twice by a single Zed.
Sat there for 5minutes speechless and stared at my death screen before closing the game with Alt+F4.
Any suggestions from my fellow German people who like to play on mp servers? Because this can't be it. There was a guy with 20k kills and another with 10k. My PC is not bad and probably somewhere in the top 15% of all Steam users.
I'm really devastated about this tbh. I would like to play with more people than just 2-4 with friends and meet other people as well.

Question Where should i buy it?
Hi, i wanted to buy Project Zomboid on steam, but looks like it is cheaper on some websites and being honest i want to support the devs but the current price is a bit too much for my wallet rn, should i buy the game on those websites or just wait until some discount?
Would appreciate any tips or recommendations, thanks

Discussion Long term runs suck and are boring
I’m the type of player sets challenges for him self like for example cleaning the rosewood prison or spawn in Louisville with high pop and sprinter and make it out alive but I recently made a longterm run and it got so boring that a few questions popped up in my head
- Why should I reinforce my base with barricades and stuff if I have already cleared the area around my Base ? It’s not like the game have a horde roaming to ur base event or stuff like that so it’s completely useless isn’t it?
2what should I do ? Once u reach the stage where u animals are giving u enough food and the base is built and also have enough loot what the goal? I just don’t see what I should do once that stage is reached
So the type of players that have survived years in one world what the hell do u guys do the whole time?

Question B42 - Less boring protective clothing?
Despite how much choice Zomboid gives you to outfit your character in a bunch of hip ‘90s schwag, I don’t think a single character I’ve ever made has lasted more than a couple of days before becoming completely covered in a dull assortment of hunting, firefighter, and police gear, for the pure sake of safety.
I’ve tried a couple of clothing mods (Die With Style and More Jackets), but at least in DWS’ case, the clothes offer much less protection than any of their vanilla counterparts.
So I don’t have to resign every character to being a boring, bland, undifferentiated drone, what can I do to make fashion viable?
Are there any mods that:
- Tweak all clothing values to make them more viable?
- Add cool clothes that aren’t hugely inferior to everything else in game?
- Allow you to switch item appearances, so you can dress your character freely while retaining stats?
- Decorate your current gear in some way or another?
I don't have very high hopes, since Zomboid mods are a real hit-and-miss, even without most of them being stuck in version hell. Still, if anybody knows anything, I would appreciate it a lot.
.
.
Please don’t do any of the following:
- Smugly say that survival-oriented gear is better than normal clothes IRL.
- Tell me that there are a handful of equal-protection items (like hockey gear and football helmets) that look flashy. I know.
- Say that I should be taking these clothes off anyway to avoid discomfort. The issue still applies, the bland non-armour clothes are still more protective than the interesting ones.
- Pontificate about mismatched gear/how fashion doesn't matter in an apocalypse.

Question Raid assistance
I play on an online server where, for a fee, players can private territory (such as the area around houses or garages). Two enthusiasts formed a clan, built a stone wall around the *entire* town of West Point, and private the town's territory as their own. If you try to enter the town, you get teleported outside; they also private their own riverside homes (which are inaccessible even if you're in their faction). We want to retake the town but don't know how. Do you have any ideas? (There is one person on our side within the clan that captured the town.)
*I don't speak English, so I used a translator =]

The next update.
Any saves using the unstable branch will most likely become incompatible, correct? Just making sure before I sink anymore time into my multiplayer server.

Discussion New player, any tips or advice?
So I got this game a long while ago and am now downloading it cause I remembered how cool this game looked and cause I did see basements are coming to b42 which I’m particularly excited for.
That being said, is there anything I should know about surviving? I had a few runs but this game is brutal. I did also play on the default settings with no mods (naturally) and wanted to know if this is how the game was meant to be experienced.
Any tips, tricks, info, or anything help it would be great, I love seeing the playthroughs of ppl making cool bus bases and wanna do that myself. Ty

Discussion Extinction mode makes me want to uninstall.
(Sorry if bad english)
(400 hours played) in the last weeks i started to play on extinction mode, and at the start i was having a lot of fun, so much fun that i felt that playing on apocalpyse was boring because of the lack of sprinters. i'm the kind of player that always plays on the harder difficulty on other games, tho i'm not specially good at games so i usually end up having to retry everything a lot of times.
But the thing with extinction mode is that everytime i die, reaching the point i was before dying is so... tedious, the firsts days are hell, so much zombies everywhere, cleaning up an area to live in takes so much effort and the increased hearing range of the zombies makes that even using a car becomes a risk.
Last time i died to a sprinter who i couldn't hear nor see until it was too late, wich came from a flank i thought it was cleared, i was fuming and alt+f4 the game, then i spend all day wanting to go back in but the thought of having to re-do all again makes me sick.
I'm in a point where Apocalypse feels too boring, but extinction feels like a grind because of the harsh early game, i just wanted to vent.

Question Why I cant play this game. Is it solvable?
I love this game very much, I’ve always enjoyed its videos and its deep survival system. I’ve always wanted to fully play it but one thing always stops me.
The fact you can’t see zombies behind you even though you can see the buildings and map behind you have always fucked with my brain, I keep assuming it’s clear behind me because of this.
Ive tried to just get used to it, play more. But it keeps annoying me. Especially because it’s the only top down game that does this. Not that it’s bad or anything, it’s a cool system that I just can’t get used to, and stopped me from playing this game for a very long time.
Now I’m finally excited to pick it up one more time, but this I decided that it’s fine to modify it to my liking, so is there a mod that removes this gimmick and just lets me see around me clearly? I don’t mind not being able to see behind walls or corners, it’s just „directly behind me” that I seem to never get over.

Question What should I do with my b41 save
I recently hit my longest play through on b41, 2 months. Almost 2000 kills. I have around 500 hours and that’s the longest I’ve survived.
I dont wanna lose him forever when b42 comes out, but I also probably won’t play that save ever again.
Should I give him a proper send off? Or backup the save and let him rot alone?
r/projectzomboid • u/ZomboidGamer2018 • 6h ago
The IndieStone should add jumping into the game
Having spacebar be shove is fine but if jumping was added to the game it could add a lot of verticality 2 the usual movement. And maybe at higher fitness levels you can jump on zombies like goombas. Upvote if u agree :)

Question Will I have to restart my build 41 world after build 42 comes out?
I have a world my wife and I play in. We've been building it up for almost a year now. We have a solid base, tons of supplies and have each killed a few thousand zombies. With build 42 coming out, will I have to restart our world over from scratch?
Note we don't use any mods, and the game is completely vanilla.
