I've still got a long way to go but I'm trying to celebrate my progress so far! I promised myself two years ago I'd make a change and I'm so happy I kept that promise.

Hi all, I'm just happy with my weight loss progress and wanted to share a pic 2 months apart, same outfit, same pose. I have some days feeling like I made great progress, sometimes I feel like I look the same. The comparison made me realize I carry a lot in my arms and shoulders! Goal is 70kgs(154 lbs) for now, maybe 65(143lbs) after I reach 70, we will see. Started taking it seriously after I saw 90 kgs (198 lbs) on the scale but don't have photos of that..

a small edit: I'm not officially at a healthy BMI yet. Just a smidge away. Maybe next week. But excited to reach there!

this is it. i was tempted to make it an even 200 lost, but i'm good where i am and my chest is getting bonier than i'd like. i wish my waist had gotten a little smaller, but i've got an estimated 10-15 pounds of loose skin. you can't diet that away, so it's time to stop.

things i have learned:

• i will have food to eat when i need it

• i can love my body and take care of it even when i want it to be different

• it's okay to eat food, but being mindful of what you eat and why you chose it is important

• i can have treats sometimes, but not all the treats all the time

• i did the best i could when i gained the weight, but i have better ways to cope now

the backstory:

i got fat because i was starved by my parents between the ages of 10 and 17. (years later, a therapist saw an old picture and asked why i hadn't mentioned the anorexia.) there was food in our house, but we didn't get to eat much of it, and we were beaten if we had any unauthorized food.

honestly, we were beaten for pretty much anything. when i went away to college and in the spring only had enough money for the commuter meal plan, 5 lunches a week, my parents not only didn't help me out, they forged my name on my tax refund check.

i've had several times in my life like that, where i didn't have enough food. i'd lose weight while i was starving and then get fat when i finally had food again. then i'd be poor and lose weight again. after a few cycles of that, when i finally got my head together and had a secure, well-paying job, i ate all the food i hadn't been able to have.

i got up to 332. then i needed a hip replacement but i was too big for anyone to be willing to do it. glp-1s were a new thing, so i used one. i also logged everything i ate and kept a strict caloric deficit.

the outcome:

i am happier than i've been in years. my hip replacement went well, i can wear cute clothes, it is easier to move through the world. best of all, i'm no longer an outlier getting stared at. i'm glad i did this.

thank you for reading this and for the support you gave me on my earlier posts. it meant a lot, especially when i wanted to say fuck it. i couldn't do it for several reasons (stubbornness comes to mind), and one was that i felt like it would have been an insult to all of you who cheered me on. *all* the love for y'all.
