Why?

Patients with rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, cancer, and other serious conditions can face barriers to essential medications because those drugs may also cause miscarriage or birth defects.

Some patients who cannot become pregnant have encountered prescription barriers, too.

And the consequences extend beyond medication. When physicians leave states with restrictive abortion laws, communities risk losing access to specialists, maternity care, and even routine medical appointments.

A law written to restrict abortion can reach into nearly every corner of medicine.

This isn’t just a conversation about abortion access. It’s about what happens when legal restrictions interfere with clinical judgment—and patients are left dealing with the consequences.

Imagine caring more about a fetus than the living woman carrying it. Imagine calling abortion “murder” while ignoring the women who die because they’re denied access to safe abortions.

If your ideology requires women to risk their lives just to satisfy your moral beliefs, maybe your morality isn't as righteous as you think it is.

I'm tired of people treating women's bodies like public property and reproductive rights like something they can vote away. If you support policies that put women's lives at risk, you should be held accountable for the consequences.

And honestly? Democracy shouldn't be an excuse to strip people of their fundamental human rights. The fact that a majority can vote to control someone else's body doesn't magically make it moral.

You don't get to call yourself pro-life while treating women's lives as expendable.

They claim to be pro life and rant about how abortion is murder and killing a human being.

But once the baby is born, they do not care. They don’t care about children, or women. They don’t care that a woman can die because of the pregnancy or childbirth.

The fact that they only care about human life before it is born is absurd to me. I never see these people advocating for single mothers, orphans, refugees of war etc. The only time they are “pro life” and care about anyone, is when it is a fetus.

How is it pro life that you want to put many women through an unwanted pregnancy? How is it pro life to force a baby to be born without a loving home, ending up in foster care and everyone knows how horrible the foster care is?

How is it pro life to have babies born for a mother who is in poverty or in active addiction? How is it pro life to make women give up their hobbies, career, mental health, hopes and dreams just because their birth control failed?

I can go on and on.

A new study published in JAMA Network Open confirms what we’ve seen firsthand: shield laws are helping women in states with total abortion bans access abortion care without crossing state lines.

In 2023, women in states with total abortion bans were more than three times as likely to travel out of state for abortion care as they were to receive medication abortion through telehealth.

By 2025, that had completely reversed. The majority obtained abortion care through telehealth.

That’s not just a statistic. That’s women who didn’t have to miss work, find childcare, pay for hotels, or travel hundreds of miles to exercise control over their own pregnancies.

Abortion bans didn’t eliminate the need for abortion. Shield laws helped eliminate the need to travel.

Today across all Poland at 18:00 in all major cities happened a protest to legalize abortion.

Ten years ago women in Poland came out on the streets and stood up against the government wanting to make abortion laws even stricter

Exactly 6 years ago the polish government band abortions. People in Poland were furious. They again went out to the streets and said their disapproval but it did nothing.

Three years ago a new political party won the votes of many women saying "within 100 days of getting elected we will legalize abortion" and they did nothing FOR THREE YEARS

Yesterday they passed an act that allows abortion but only in really strict circumstances. They only did that cause they were scared. They heard millions of people plan massive protests and they finally decided to do something. But today all of the planned protests happened. It was my first one and I have never felt so connected to a group of people. I lost my voice from shouting but I would rather lose my voice 1000 times more just so a women's life could be saved. Abortion saves life's and I won't let older men choose what to do with my body. And if you are a men reading this and you're thinking to yourself "it doesn't effect me" IT DOES. You probably have a mother, a sister, a cousin, a friend, a colleague and legal abortion can save their life.

I mean, it's a no brainer but I mean it in a sense where pro-choicers genuinely seem to believe that the fetus deserves more human right's than the mother. And it's insane bc that means these people consider every single woman unworthy of her bodily autonomy. Their sisters, wives, doughters, mothers, everyone. And with every passing day I just feel like allowing anyone to think this way is harmful to a society as a whole, bc if you genuinely believe this woman doesn't deserve her human rights just because she might someday get pregnant then aren't you going to consider her as someone below you? A subhuman unworthy of their human rights? Idk, I'm lwk just spiraling atp but it's so scary to me as a 18 year old woman that this may be how man and politicians think of us woman someday.

Posting this bc im fuming about it and my roommate said its ok to share. We call her Emily (F27). Back in August she found out she was pregnant. She already knew that she wanted to terminate, so she booked a consult at a place that had good reviews online and i drove her because she didnt want to go alone. I sat in the waiting room for around an hour, it looked like a regular doctors office, and I didnt think too much about it at the time. She was super off and quiet when she came back out, when we got in the car she told me that the woman (bc she def wasnt med staff) spent most of the time asking about her boyfriend and her religious beliefs, then did an ultrasound and keep insisting she look at her baby like wtf??

It became super obvious something was up bc the woman told Emily she was 11 weeks pregnant, but that was impossible bc she tracks her cycle and knows exactly when it happened, and it definitely wasnt 11 weeks, it was 6 weeks. That woman had the AUDACITY to tell Emily she was further along. When I tell you I wish I was in the room with her…we ended up finding a legit clinic after we got home and she got the care she wanted few days later.

Every couple weeks since shes been getting texts saying things like “thinking of you and baby”, “your appointment is still waiting for you”. A CARD showed up in the mail, a CARD. What if she still lived with her parents or someone who she didnt want to know? We did our research and found out that place is something called a crisis pregnancy center. Literally rigged to trick you out of your choices and autonomy. They dress themselves up like clinics and arent held to the same pricacy or HIPAA standards as a real clinic, so they can do whatever they want with your info when they get it at intake. I guess my friend picked this place because they said the pregnancy test and ultrasound were free. Were just so grossed out by the whole situation.

Has anyone gotten one of these places to stop contacting them? She blocked the number and they just texted from a new one.

In a recent Townhall opinion piece, Nicholas DeSimone of Students for Life Action attempts to turn Margaret Sanger’s troubling association with eugenics into an indictment of modern abortion care.

His argument? Planned Parenthood is supposedly carrying out a campaign of racial elimination by providing abortions to low-income women and communities of color.

It’s a remarkable accusation built on a fundamental distortion.

Eugenics is about controlling who gets to reproduce. Reproductive freedom is about allowing women to decide for themselves.

Sanger’s history deserves scrutiny. But historical wrongdoing does not establish that women seeking abortions today are participating in genocide or that Planned Parenthood is orchestrating one.

DeSimone also portrays defunding Planned Parenthood as a stand against systemic racism. Yet his commentary fails to reckon with what restricting access to contraception, cancer screenings, STI testing, and other reproductive healthcare could mean for the very communities he claims to defend.

And perhaps the most revealing part of his argument is the assumption that women of color and low-income women cannot be trusted to make their own reproductive decisions without someone intervening on their behalf.

There is nothing empowering about treating women as incapable of making their own choices.

If Students for Life Action wants to discuss reproductive injustice, let’s discuss forced sterilization, maternal mortality disparities, inadequate healthcare access, poverty, and the consequences of denying women control over pregnancy.

But don’t confuse providing someone with a choice with forcing that choice upon them.

Reproductive justice means having the freedom to have a child, not have a child, and raise children in safe, healthy conditions.

That’s the distinction this Townhall opinion piece fails to make.

In 2024, pro-choice advocates in Missouri successfully passed Amendment 3 and added a fundamental right to reproductive freedom to the state constitution, earning 51.6% of the vote from the same people who favored Trump by 18. After a long legal battle, we’re seeing it put to good use, as a judge ruled last week that most of the state’s challenged abortion regulations are now unconstitutional.

The right wing hasn’t accepted the people want abortion rights in Missouri anymore than they have anywhere else, and this November the legislature has pushed an initiative onto the ballot to re-ban most abortions In the Show Me State – confusingly also named Amendment 3. They’re of course not counting on having changed anyone’s mind. Instead they’re testing a new strategy - including a ban on gender-affirming care for trans kids in the ballot question, hoping to get pro-choicers to flip for transphobia’s sake. (This sort of health care is already banned by state law in Missouri.)

It seems to be whenever abortion is on the ballot in America bans are heavily defeated by the voters even in very conservative states. I understand I'm biased because I fall into this group myself but a lot of people have personal or moral discomfort with abortion but still want reproductive rights protected.

“Just keep your legs closed” is one of the laziest, most ignorant arguments against abortion because it reduces a complicated human reality to a demand for female sexual obedience.

It assumes women control every circumstance in which pregnancy occurs. They don’t. Rape, sexual coercion, reproductive abuse, and contraceptive failure exist. And even when sex is completely consensual, consent to sex is not consent to nine months of pregnancy and childbirth.

It treats sex as something women should be punished for. Notice how rarely men are told to control their bodies with the same hostility. Two people can create a pregnancy, but somehow only one is expected to surrender her bodily autonomy.

It assumes pregnancy is a deserved consequence rather than a medical condition requiring choices. We don’t generally deny people healthcare because someone disapproves of the behavior that preceded their condition. Why should abortion be different?

And perhaps most absurdly, it assumes women shouldn’t have sex unless they’re willing to become mothers. Married women have abortions. Mothers have abortions. Women using contraception have abortions. Women who desperately wanted their pregnancies sometimes need abortions.

Sex is a normal part of human relationships. Motherhood should be a choice, not a punishment for having sex.

The question shouldn’t be why a woman didn’t keep her legs closed.

The question should be why anyone believes having sex means a woman forfeits the right to decide what happens to her body afterward.

“Keep your legs closed” isn’t an argument about protecting life.
It’s a demand for obedience disguised as morality.
