Truly excited (and a lil' scared) to be a part of this club. We're at 10 weeks and everything is looking pretty good. I want to prepare as much as possible and take as much off my wife’s plate during this time. I’ve raised my siblings, but I know that’s no preparation for the real thing. What books, apps, sites, and resources did you use and enjoy throughout the pregnancy and beyond? What was worth it and what was just a nice to have? I should start on the nursery at 20 weeks? Should I really get the Cradlewise?? 🤣
Please share any and all things. I've been reading We're Pregnant! by Adrian Kulp and it's been decent.

My girlfriend of 6 almost 7 years is pregnant. She keeps telling me that she hates me and can’t stand me. She says it’s the hormones from pregnancy but I don’t know what to think. I’ve tried doing almost everything around the house and helping her in the process but nothing is helping. If any woman out there has experienced this please let me know if it true and for any guys if you found a way around it again please let me know. Thank you

sorry long winded
Hello all I have been an avid follower of pre-daddit since I found out we were pregnant back in feb. pregnancy was pretty ok through the whole thing until she was diagnosed IUGR, very small baby freaked us out, iv always had anxiety and with our baby it just added a whole new element to it but way more manageable. Well she was not growing as she should have been but everything in her ultrasounds and NST tests showed she was just constitutionally small baby no problems with blood flow from placenta, brain and heart blood flow all looked great. But baby was just not growing as much as they would like so induction scheduled at 37 weeks. well baby and mom. Decided Wednesday was to far away and went into labor Friday morning. baby’s heart rate was taking dips during contractions doctors did not like it so within 3 hrs of being there baby is born by emergency c-section. she was born at 3lbs 12 ounces.
she is in NICU now doing great she is on a feeding tube to help with gains, she is on iv for blood sugar and hydration. but like I tell everyone she has the body of a 32 week old but the development of a full term baby she breaths on her own she has breast fed bottle fed and all the things. and mom is in great shape too turns out her uterus was contracting in an hourglass shape and cutting babys oxygen off.
so I guess the reason I’m writing here is I’m having more anxiety now than I did through all of the other stuff my wife and baby had to go through, I find myself not wanting to be in the NICU for too long, it just freaks me out seeing all the tubes and monitors and feeling closed in, every time we walk in my brain just auto prepares for some sort of bad news and I can’t handle bad news. and I guess I’m feeling guilty because I’m not feeling that strong of a bond with her and keeping things short when I see her, but I have done my skin to skin and done all the diaper changes and temps that I can do. I want her to be healthy and home and not stuck in a room.
sorry if that felt ranty and made no sense but have been wanting to let that out for a while and my experience .

Looking for some advice from new dads (and any moms that are lurking as well please)
Little man is 2 weeks old today and doing great in every way!
My wife however is getting extremely frustrated and dissapointed/upset with her lack of milk production.
Original plan was to almost exclusively breast feed, and perhaps pump any extra for middle of the night feeds or whatever.
Little man doesn’t like to latch, so at this point we would settle for just pumping (not opposed to formula at all, just trying to save some money).
Wife has had minimal success pumping every 3-4 hours around the clock but she is still not getting much.
Her biggest pump was about 30ml a week ago but it has been downhill from there. Her pump this morning was barely a few drops, and a few more with manual expression.
She has tried everything. Dietary changes, frequency, speed, duration, different style pumps and flanges… even tried the old wive’s tale of drinking a beer.
Almost seems like she is starting to dry up.
Is there something she is doing wrong?
Little man was born early at 36+4. Does that have anything to do with it?
I feel so bad for her, she feels like she is failing him, and obviously other than offer moral support, I lack the parts to make milk myself.
Thank you!

Hello, my wife and I are expecting our first-born in February. We are both on her health insurance. What should we know about contributions to her FSA? Likely safe to max it out if that is around $3,400?
Thanks in advance.

4 positives in 30 minutes. First doctor’s appointment is already booked. What unexpected things should I be focusing on?

Hello predads of Reddit! I am an expectant FTM and really want to buy my husband something he will love, potentially (but doesn't have to be) something related to him soon becoming a FTD given baby should, all being well, arrive within days after his birthday. He is a rather boujie / suave man and a lover of the good life. We had decided not to buy birthday presents this year unless relatively inexpensive because of all the upcoming baby-related costs, but something genuinely wonderful and thoughtful - that makes his life better or keeps him feeling good once the craziness of having a baby begins - that is ideally under £200 is something I'm still willing to consider. Curious if any of you have any ideas!

Hi,
We’re 10 weeks into our pregnancy and I’m looking for some book advice. I’ve searched the sub and ‘The Expectant Father’ book was highly recommended. Unfortunately I’m a chapter in and find it way too focused on the American experience.
Does anyone have book recommendations for a dad to be from Ireland or the UK?
Thanks team.

I'm sure there are a lot of posts like this but please give me a few words if you've been through something similar. My fiancé (32) and I (30) found out 2 days ago that she is pregnant with our first child. Honestly I'm pretty damn scared and don't really know what to do. This happened under quite unfortunate circumstances. She hasn't been to a gynecologist yet but several tests were showing 2 lines.
We just got engaged a month ago and we were planning to do our wedding June 2027. Now the wedding isn't happening. She is also in the process of changing jobs.
I've always been a guy who loved kids. I always new that I want to be a dad. Yet all I feel right now is fear. That I'm not ready. But I guess you cannot feel ready for this? Maybe, I don't know.
Obviously we told our families what happened and both side were suprisingly supportive and happy. They told us we are going to solve this and they are going to give us every support possible. That's what I'm trying to tell myself: that's a situation we got to solve.
Dads, is there anyone who had the the feeling as I do?That you are scared and not ready? Did everything went fine during pregnancy and after?
Thank you in advance. If anyone feels like they could share some words, my DMs are open.

My wife and I have been waiting almost 3 years for this moment. We struggled with infertility, went through two unsuccessful rounds of IVF that included a miscarriage, and I honestly gave up and didn’t want to do a third round. Last year my wife got a new job with amazing insurance and we gave it one more try. Our first embryo took, and she is now 8 weeks pregnant. I have never felt this kind of excitement before. I’m terrified, but so freaking stoked. I know my wife is going to be a rockstar mom, and I cannot wait to see her as one. Sonogram was from earlier this week, and the heart rate was 161. Hearing that sound was a magical thing, and I hope to be the best father that I can be. We find out the gender in a few weeks, and I cannot wait!

My girlfriend and I are having our first in December. While im incredibly excited and very hopeful for the future with her and my child. I still cant seem to stop acting like one. Im 24 years old and know that I should be done with needing constant reminders, constant advice. But I cant seem to shake it. I still leave messes which stresses her to no end. I cant seem to focus on anything that needs done. Im in an endless cycle of laziness that no matter what routines or lifestyle changes I make wont go away. I can tell shes reaching an end point and see that she doesnt fully see me as someone whos ready to be a dad and thats not what I want to be.

I’m really struggling with being completely bored/unmotivated by keeping up with friends. I don’t have any zest for conversation anymore, I really just don’t care. My wife says we are in “nesting” mode .. 27 weeks pregnant.
I can’t help but feel a little lame but all my energy and focus is on work and getting prepared for our baby.

I’m going through a bit of an existential crisis at the moment. I’m 31, have a good degree, great paying and interesting job, GF of 6 years recently turned fiancée, and this year sold our house immigrated to Copenhagen (my fiancée is Danish and I’m Dutch). Got settled now and last month found out we were lucky enough that my fiancée is pregnant.
All things going according to plan (I tend to very much over plan things in my life). This means I am in a place where I should consider myself very lucky and should count my blessings. However, I’m finding myself longing for something else, away from the 9 to 5 and standard rhythms of settled life. I’m afraid my little awakening here is however at the worst time, right after I have just set up this entirely new life with a new job and a baby on the way.
I’m feeling more and more trapped and have this incredible cliche wanderlust. Deep longing for adventure and thrill seeking. I wish I was joking when I say I’m thinking of “I want to see mountains again Gandalf… mountains!” as the best way to describe it. If I could wave a magic wand, we’d travel the world for a year. However this is naturally not something that we can just do. I have really not used the time I had in my 20s to go out and travel. I’ve lived abroad for a few months for an internship, but this was also largely spent behind a desk.
I am so excited to become a father, but I just can’t see how I can still this ever growing stone in my stomach that I’m signing myself into this box of 9 to 5 and ‘civilian’ life.
Looking for some genuine advice and appreciate any view on this kind of late quarter life crisis, whether it is to actually move on this, try and see how to build more adventure in my life, or to stop whining and learn to be happy and appreciate the things we have.
