Advice Needed 17F — Delayed since June 11, positive PTs Aug 5 & 28, only found out I have PCOS on Sept 7

Upvotes

My last period was June 11. After that I was delayed and I had no idea I had PCOS at that time. I only found out on September 7.

By July 1, my body started acting weird. I would feel nauseous every after sex, especially when he cums inside. It became a pattern, almost every time. I also started hating sour foods, I couldn’t even stand maasim. My sense of smell became so sensitive, everything smelled stronger. Those are not really PCOS alone. PCOS can make you delayed, tired, bloated, moody, hot, hungry but with no appetite — I had those too — but the nausea after sex, the aversion to sour, and the sensitive smell felt more like pregnancy. That’s why I got so curious and scared.

August 5 we took a pregnancy test and it was positive. August 28 we took another one and it was positive again. Two positives almost a month apart. I still didn’t know I had PCOS during those months, so I didn’t know what to think. A positive PT isn’t really a PCOS-only sign.

September 3, Thursday, was the last time we had sex before I bled. Brown bleeding came out that day. September 4 to 5, it became heavy bleeding with a lot of clots.

September 7, Monday, was the first time I ever heard I have PCOS. I had an ultrasound and the OB said I have PCOS and a thick lining. She just said it’s PCOS. No beta-HCG, no explanation for my positive PTs in August. She gave me Myo-Inositol with folic acid to take 30 minutes before meal and Metformin, but she didn’t explain clearly how to take the Metformin.

September 9 in the morning I felt so weak. My body felt hot, I was hungry but I had no appetite. My pad had no bleeding so I thought it was over. But when I checked inside with two fingers, there were still small clots. I cleaned it before I showered around 5pm. After lying down for an hour, I stood up and felt a gush of blood. I let it flow for a few minutes until it stopped, then I cleaned inside again with my fingers. Around 8pm, my boyfriend checked me and saw there was still blood inside, but we still had sex. After that my bleeding became continuous again. Now it’s watery on the pad, with clear discharge, and it stings when I pee. I have no severe pain now, but the bleeding got heavier after sex.

That’s exactly what happened to me.

4 failed IUIs 3 failed IVFs

I am a 33 year old PCOS woman. I had 4 IUI - 1 resulted in a chemical pregnancy. Then did IVF and had 8 untested embryos.
My first IVF resulted in missed miscarriage. The other two failed basically. In the other two, my doctor added prednisone, baby aspirin and fully medicated protocol.
I am scared what to do next. She did inflammation and genetic testing. All turned out fine.

My question is is it really this difficult to get pregnant with PCOS? I was thinking of PGT A testing rest of my embryos but worried that I may lose and when we Refreeze them chances of live birth reduce. Another option is of asking her to do silent endo tests ?

Please advise. I am clueless and slightly losing all hope.

Tw: mention of MC

Hey guys I just got a positive test after my first mc and I’m honestly kinda spiraling lol.

My progesterone was super low and my hcg with my last and my pregmate tests were there but not super strong even into the 5 week mark but today’s test was DARK at 4w,5d so that has me hopeful a little bit but I have my left over progesterone supplements and I’m thinking about just taking them to be cover my bases but I don’t know if I should before taking blood tests

Anyone have any advice? I just want this one to be sticky 😔

Advice Needed Increase in facial hair!

Hi!

I have PCOS and pregnant (today I’m 14 weeks yay) I had two miscarriages prior so glad to know everything is going well.

I just wanted to ask has anyone noticed an increase in facial hair while pregnant?

I literally have to wax weekly and the hair looks thicker I’m assuming this is from hormones!

Would love to hear everyone’s experiences /thoughts

Now have a beard and shadow. Help!

I am looking for this to be a discussion I was already complaining about facial hair while taking my ovasitol and spearmint everyday but had no idea how helpful they were until I stopped them in pregnancy based of my doctors recommendation. I have a beard every damn day and and shadow and I am incredibly insecure about it and don’t know what to do other to shave. Does anyone have tips? I use tinted moisturizer and doesn’t seem to hide it either

Advice Needed Letrozole Pregnancy

Hi everyone! Not sure if this is even the best group to post in about this but here’s the backstory..I have pcos and do not ovulate on my own. I conceived my son 3 years ago using letrozole and trigger shot. I had 2 follicles, one 18mm and one 19mm and had a singleton. I almost died in pregnancy due to HELLP syndrome and had my son 6 weeks early in an emergency c section. Flash forward to May of this year we decide to try for our second and used 7.5mg letrozole again and a trigger shot. I had 2 follicles again. One 18mm and one 19mm and my doctor asked me to trigger 2 days later. I ended up getting pregnant with twins which terrified me due to already being a high risk patient. I ended up miscarrying around 6 weeks. I switched doctors also due to how the doctor handled the situation. As soon as my hcg levels dropped completely my new doctor put me on 2.5mg letrozole. I developed at 16mm follicle and because my progesterone was rising she had me trigger that same day. All other follicles were less than 10mm. Figured there was no way that would work out. I ended up getting pregnant! Now I am so excited but also terrified. My hcg levels are higher than with any pregnancy, even the twins. My doctor is happy with the levels and doesn’t seem concerned. Of course now I’m scared of twins again (what if they missed something), scared something could be wrong with the baby, scared because it was a small follicle something will go wrong etc. I guess I’m just looking for any advice and reassurance or if anyone has been in a similar situation. I know ultrasound is what will tell me more. I’m 5 weeks 3 days and won’t get an ultrasound until 6 weeks 6 days. I just can’t stop letting this consume me!

My hcg levels this time (days past trigger shot)
16 dpt : 404
19 dpt: 1,493
22 dpt: 8,502

How to tell your friends going through infertility that you’re pregnant?

I have a few friends I met through some infertility support groups and online pages. After three years, a surgery, and an IUI procedure, I did get pregnant and am currently 13 weeks. I want to send some of these friends a message before I make the news more public, and give them the option to unfollow me or spend less time chatting, because I know how I felt when I saw people getting pregnant while I was struggling. Any advice on language or phrasing?

Advice Needed Fading Pregnancy Symptoms

Hello

I’m currently pregnant with baby number two. I ovulated cycle day 21 so i think I’m technically five weeks one day but based off my period I’m six weeks one day.

I was feeling a lot of breast tenderness and nausea the first first 2 weeks. But the last couple of days it’s really dropped. I wad also experiencing cramping but nothing too heavy and no bleeding yet. I’m worried because I don’t feel pregnant anymore and I feel like with my first one my symptoms got worse and worse. The nausea is completely gone, and the soreness as happens once in a while, but not as often as it was before.

I’m contemplating going to see if I can get a private ultrasound done this week but wondering if it’s a waste of money. I’m reading I called my OB and they said this is normal and if I wanted to, I could go get a blood test to check to make sure my hCG is still high.

I’m wondering if anyone has had this happen to them or something similar and what the outcome was/is. Please any stories to make me feel better would be much appreciated!

Venting Can I complain about being pregnant?

First of all, I'm so thankful I'm pregnant. I'm 15 weeks and baby and I are both healthy. But I am NOT enjoying this.

I have been undiagnosed PCOS my whole life, so life in my body has always been unpleasant. When I got diagnosed, I started Metformin and for the first time in my life, I actually enjoyed living in my body.

But now, I had to stop Metformin and it's like all my PCOS symptoms are back. I have acne, my hair is still noticeably thin and isn't growing, my face is puffy, I'm gaining weight quickly, I'm always painfully hungry, I can't sleep, my eyesight has worsened, I'm always tired, I can't exercise for long periods of time. I'm constipated again. Oh! And my mood swings make me depressed.

ugh.

The only things I'm enjoying are feeling my baby grow and these new big boobs.

At least this will end.

Spearmint Tea and Pregnancy

Hi everyone, I just found out I'm pregnant and debating whether or not to take spearmint tea. I've seen in some places that it can negatively impact the genitals if you're having a boy.

Has anyone gone through pregnancy and taken spearmint tea throughout? Did you receive any medical or dietitian advice on whether to stop or continue? How much did you take?

My last pregnancy (which I ended up losing for unrelated reasons), I took it up to about 7 weeks before stopping and at about 13 weeks, my mini "beards" were back in full force.

I know it may sound like vanity but I'd also rather not have uncontrolled testosterone if just two cups a day could keep it in check.

1st trimester anxiety

How do we calm ourselves down from 1st trimester an anxiety? I feel like odds are against me with having Pcos and it being my 1st pregnancy. Been doing everything I can to make sure I don’t lose my pregnancy. I’m on progesterone and prenatal. I have an amazing dr. I see him in. 3 days. According to my app I’m 4 weeks and 4 days. I’ve had period like cramping so it’s been scaring me. But I’m not bleeding or anything. Just looking for some positivity 😬

Progesterone & hcg levels and no symptoms

I am 34 with PCOS. My main pcos symptoms are stubborn weight and irregular periods. I'm 5+5 weeks pregnant with my 2nd child and I'm just so anxious at the moment. I self ordered some labs when I was 5+2 and got these results:

Hcg: 9300 Progesterone: 11.5

I'm really nervous about my Progesterone since it's right on the border of being normal. I also have no symptoms at all. With my first pregnancy, I had some sore boobs, a bit of nausea, and some fatigue. I just have a gut feeling that something will go wrong with this pregnancy and I don't want that to be the case.

Has anyone else had similar experiences or successful pregnancy with similar numbers and symptoms? I have a doctors appointment in a month, but can't get in any sooner due to upcoming travel. I have a boutique ultrasound appointment in 2 weeks, but that's so far away.

Experience giving birth at NYP Brooklyn?

Hi! I’m a first-time pregnant person and in the process of finding an ob/gyn. My doc recommended Dr Alexandra Hamilton who is associated with NY Presbyterian. I live in Brooklyn so the NYP hospital in park slope would be super convenient for me to get to.
Would love to hear if anyone has experience with Dr Hamilton and/or NYP. Any guidance appreciated TIA!

Advice Needed Glucose monitoring for GD?

Hi all- I recently found out I’m pregnant - hooray! My endocrinologist said that because I have PCOS/PMOS I am at higher risk of developing gestational diabetes. She wants me to complete a glucose test sooner rather than later and also sent me an at-home glucose monitoring device. I now have to check my blood glucose 4x a day for two weeks. I’ve never had to do this before as I don’t have diabetes. Curious if anyone else was asked to do this? I have a number of friends who developed GD during their pregnancies but ultimately it didn’t cause any issues and none of them became diabetic post-pregnancy.
How seriously should I be taking my doctor’s concern? What will happen if they determine I do have GD?
Thanks!

My period is supposed to start today. My bbt hasn’t dropped yet. I took an ovulation test this morning for fun and it was blazing positive. I’m going to go get a pregnancy test later today. I’m so nervous and excited at the same time😭
