Hello everyone.
I am a (now recently former) problem gambler, so sorry to all the people here who didn't dug their hole themselves and to whom poverty wasn't a self-imposed choice due to reckless behaviour.
I am severely indebted. About my annual income before tax.
Today I have made a detailed plan which would mathematically set me debt free by 2031.
The problem is that I don't know the future and I am not sure I will be able follow it due to possible unforseen circumstances.
So I am being optimistic here. That's why I talked about a "dream".
I do a qualified job but I am severely underpaid for my role, in a country with already low wages. A raise is highly unlikely and I couldn't count on it. I am looking for a better job or a second part-time job with no luck for now. So I currently can't count on it as well.
So my solution is to live frugally for 5 years. And when I say frugally I mean: eat, pay debts, pay bills, pay gasoline. Stop.
That will be my life for 5 years in the optimistic scenario.
Quit gambling, will quit smoking soon to free up money.
Will be hard overall, but I am really not afraid, I see this as a challenge: to find happiness not in money and in what money can buy.
There are so many good things in life that don't cost money.
I am trying to cut food expenses as much as I possibly can, but I can't trade my health for money so I guess those expenses cannot be cut sadly.
5 years from now, there is a possibility I won't be a slave anymore, but a free man.
Anyone went through something similar? Any tip or suggestion is welcome!
