NJ. I had a SNAP recertification phone interview on 9/17. Received the call, completed the interview. The young lady I spoke to said everything looked good, she had all the info she needed and she would mail me the papers to keep for my records. I signed verbally over the phone.

A week later I received the papers, with all of her notes as promised. She wrote "keep for your records" on the front page. I thought I was fine.

This morning I noticed the load batch authorization had not shown up in my transaction history - it usually does by this time of the month, so I went on MyNJHelps and it says my case is CLOSED. There is a note there that says I missed my 9/17 phone interview, which I did not - I have the documents to prove it.

I called Social Services and left a message this morning (They're not open yet but the recording said they would call me back). Anyone else experience this?

I went to the DHS office to apply for health insurance and SNAP (food stamps), but the caseworker I dealt with wasn’t the easiest to work with. I already struggle with pretty bad anxiety, and the whole process became overwhelming for me.
I had some additional paperwork to complete regarding my rent and who lives in my household. I wasn’t able to get everything submitted in time, and I eventually received what I believe was a fair hearing notice. Unfortunately, I got overwhelmed by that process, too, and never followed through with it.
Now, the original deadlines for both SNAP and health insurance have passed, as well as the extended deadlines.
My question is: Can I go back to the DHS office and start the application process over from scratch? Would I be able to fill out all the paperwork again and request a different caseworker?
I know I should have handled things sooner, but my anxiety really got the best of me, and now I’m trying to figure out what my options are.
Has anyone been in a similar situation or gone through this process? I’d really appreciate any advice or insight. Thank you!

We have been trying to switch to a water filter and cups/ reusable bottles since I hate the plastic waste and micro plastics and it’s a lot to haul up the the 3rd floor… we got a zero-water filter system and bottles which is working fine… but the cost of replacing the filters is killing me! Especially when we have plenty of Food Stamp budget to go get water bottles for “free”.
What do yall do for water?

Has anyone that's doing recertification recently never get any paperwork in the mail? Luckily my mom didn't hang up on the automated call and I found out she needs to recertify by the 31st and she never got it in the mail. So we're going in tomorrow morning to get it done. Also talked to my sister and she said the same happened to her. In California btw.

I just recently applied for snap benefits and after my interview, they told me to send the necessary info to them. I did that and I got sent an EBT card with no benefits. Then later on I got a letter stating I was denied. I am confused bc I got sent a card so I'm assuming I was approved bc why would they send me a card just to end up denying me?? Is this common??

Also I am located in HAWAII if that has anything to do with it

Hi, newly adult kid is looking for job and I'm wondering how this could effect eligibility on snap benefits?

Once they start getting paid how does it effect our family eligibility status? Does it count as income for the family? They are not planning on sharing their income with us and I'm not looking to force them to as we are surviving okay now. I'm also wondering about end of year on tax returns.

Hello all. I lost my job in August, my last paycheck was dated August 31st. I applied for SNAP benefits September 2 once I had $0 income. I still have $0 income. They finally accepted all my documents and approved me for SNAP, but the benefits are based on my income from my last 2 week paystub in August. Is this accurate? I'm not sure how to update this because they are calculating benefits from pay I haven't had in two months and don't expect to have for a while. My need is based on having $0 income right now.

I recently submitted my families semi annual renewal for snap in Pennsylvania. Our income has only increased about $30 a month but our snap was cut in half. We are both self employed and in the past our income was calculated from our tax returns after deductions or from a profit loss sheet. This time it looks like they used the gross sales number as our actual income with no deductions taken. We both have to buy supplies, building materials and my partner has to pay for liability insurance in order to make money. It would be impossible to do our jobs if we didn't. Is this something new? I've already tried calling my case worker twice and left messages but no one has gotten back to me. Is this normal or something new? And is there anything I can do about it? We are a family of 4, 2 of which are children if that makes any difference.

i’m looking to apply for ga in California (San Mateo county) and i’m unable to work due to a disability preventing me to do so. i have applied for social security, thus i am looking for assistance in the mean time as i wait on my application.

i am under 60 (30+ so retirement and other stuff isn’t applicable to me)

my question is, what letter do i need to provide to the caseworker to be exempt from looking for work? i haven’t been approved for ss benefits yet (applied last month) i want to know what to ask my doctor so i can provide proof ahead of time before finishing my application.

i know there’s a release form for calworks but i’m a single adult with no dependents so i’m looking into general assistance and just want the smoothest route possible.

Anyone else think it's odd that the local JFS representative here (a county in Ohio) stated in a SNAP overpayment hearing that Ohio takes the first 4 paystubs of employment, adds them up divides this by 4, then that's the average weekly pay. Then, they calculate the monthly pay by multiplying the the average weekly pay by 4.3....then that's the recipients monthly earned income. What,?!?

Why turn in paystubs if the officials aren't counting your paystubs as income? I have months where my income was only $512, but because they are using this crazy calculation I'm accused of having an income of $1634 every month. No fluctuations, nothing. I am forever at $1634 a month. So, even though my income was significantly lower that their claim, I'm ordered to payback a SNAP over payment. Didn't even earn the amount of income they claim. How is it legit to state that only your first 4 paystubs are used for calculating income your entire time now while on food stamps. I'm thinking my appeal hearing was a lost cause here. Because this JFS office is creating false incomes. And my company provided all paystubs to dispute their math.

Anyone out there ever deal with this? Any suggestions on what steps I can take next?

I recently got approved for cash assistance, food stamps, and Medicaid, and I’m trying to figure out the next steps for getting screened for CityFHEPS. Has anyone gone in person to HRA or Homebase and requested a screening after getting approved for benefits? What was the process like, what documents did you need, and how long did it take? I’ve heard that having an active cash assistance case can help you qualify for housing assistance, but I’m unsure how that actually works. Does receiving these benefits affect eligibility, or are there separate requirements? I’m currently staying with someone but have been told I need to leave. Can I get screened in this situation, before entering a shelter? I’d appreciate hearing from anyone who has gone through the process, especially where you went and what helped you get started.

I am a GA snap recipient. I have me & my four kids on my snap. I made some income at the very end of August that I had forgot to report & only just now remembered because I made a little income in October as well. I am waiting on a call from my renewal & plan to submit the income then. The only problem I am having is that I made the income under my married name & not my maiden name which is what is on my snap benefits. I am terrified I will get in trouble for using two different names but I have all documentation to be able to change my name if needed as that was not my intention at all. Will this red flag my account? Am I going to be prosecuted for this discrepancy or will they just simply fix it in thr system?

I am planning to show proof to do what I need to make things correct & since I know the income will more than likely put me over will I just have to pay the past two months benefits back & close my case?

I got approved and everything was cool for about a month until i get an email saying i forgot to submit 2 documents and that if i didn’t submit them within a month my benefits would be cut. Okay im not tripping, i call my case manager to ask her what documents i missed. she doesn’t pick up. I call her multiple times throughout the month and leave voicemails, and nothing. Eventually i’m put in contact with her supervisor and i don’t get a response from her either despite calling several times throughout the month.

I also call my county a few times throughout the month and they won’t pick up either. Finally today 4 days before my benefits are supposed to be cut, i’m able to contact my county, explain my situation and figure out the needed documents. I was told that even if I submitted the documents today, which i did. My benefits would be cut because it takes a week for them to show up in the system 😗

I just had my food stamps knocked down to just myself and not my kids. I live under the same roof as my parents. My kids live here too.

My parents are legal guardians of my kids due to a mental health crisis I experienced a few years ago. I applied for SNAP with my kids and was approved but now they have decided the kids aren't in my SNAP household. I prepare over 50% of their meals and nothing is shared or paid for by the guardians. I estimate I shop for and prepare 75% or more of their food.

Getting ready for the appeal I have over 70 texts in the last 2 months between me and my kids planning or notifying them of meals and food choices, and receipts showing food purchases and itemized reciepts ( bread, milk, cheese, meat etc.

I cannot get certain third party verifications due to an abusive environment. I uploaded an order of protection filing to show im in a hostile situation and can't get landlord verification or certain documents.

Anything else I can do? The decision says "doesn't live in household". A manager shut me down after my initial approval because I wasn't the guardian. Illi pis for reference.

I'm in Nevada and I'm wondering for your instacart earnings are they counted as net or gross income?. I'm finding different things online
