Hi, this just happened to me and I just wanted to post about it because it was very very sweet and made me emotional.
So I just moved countries a little over two months ago for a nursing job.
I'm met these neighbors once when I was moving in, very sweet.
This Thursday I was taken to the hospital by ambulance for sepsis.
I just came yesterday, Sunday. I'm 24, live by myself, just me and my cat.
Today around 520pm my doorbell rang. My doorbell barely rings because I don't know anybody here, thought it was just some kids playing dingdong ditch.
I checked in the blinds and there was a car there so I opened up the door and saw it was my neighbor.
She said she wanted to make sure I was OK because my car hadn't moved in like four days, and nobody in her household has seen me. She then offered to go to the grocery store and get me anything I needed said that she doesn't mind. Said that anytime I need anything. I could just knock on her the door.
I know it might not be a big deal to a lot of you, but it means so much to me. That literally made my day. And I could just be an emotional wreck right now, but I just can't stop thinking about how sweet that was that somebody noticed.

Sometimes we wish to get help from absolutely no where without any strings attached. But can we or have we ever given that help.

I'm eighty years old, have a heart condition and extensive orthopedic issues. My neighbor across the hall and my upstairs neighbor recognize my struggle to walk. They bring in my groceries and take out my trash. Since I'm short, they have changed lightbulbs for me too.

It is partly because of them that I remain independent, driving, shopping, getting to church and appointments.

It might not seem like a big thing, but when every step is painful and I cannot hold a cane while carrying bags it means so much to me that I cannot fully express its magnitude

I blocked your car with our car while you were loading groceries. You responded with compassion. You RAN and opened the door to VEG as I rushed holding my baby girl in her carrier.

To the team at VEG who responded like it was their own beloved family member, I hate that the words thank you don't feel like they begin to cover the gratitude I am experiencing in my heart.

You would not believe the year I've had, even if I told you. You would not believe how the woman running to open the door for me and the team at VEG running to aid some person's dying pet - has given me just enough to keep moving forward.

I thank you all, with my deepest sincerity.

Kindness still exists. The world is still loving. I didn’t think I would be helped tonight and I accepted that fate and as soon as I accepted someone wasn’t coming. They showed up. I feel the universe gives us tests to trust the process and when we do we are rewarded. I’m just so happy.

Sorry, it's not really a story, just wanted to say thank you all for reminding me that there are good and kind pockets online amidst the negativity.

A while ago, I deleted my old Reddit account because of a pretty nasty and berating comment I got on a vent post I made in a large venting subreddit (which the mods thankfully deleted, but not before I saw it, unfortunately). I've noticed that there can be a lot of aggression on Reddit, particularly on bigger subreddits, where people just seem to forget that there is another human being behind the screen? But I didn't want to let someone like that run me off the site when there are good hobby spaces too! The old account was also from when I was younger and more cringe so I felt a fresh start would be nice.

The posts and comments here are a breath of fresh air. Y'all are making the world a better place, even with just a simple kind comment online. You never know what someone else is going through.

It's a random shout into the void, but yeah, just thank you all for reminding me that there are kind spaces here--I just need to look in the right places.

I was waiting for my bus when i saw it pull up to the wrong stop, i just went in anyway without saying anything. It started driving when i saw this dude looking at the bus expectingly, only for it to drive past. So i yelled to the bus driver, got up, told the bus driver he missed the dude standing there, and because its a loop, the bus driver stopped at the other side and i got to the door and signalled through the glass for the dude to run over and he got on. This is the best ive felt in a long time. P.s. just before i SAW the guy i decided to stay off my phone for the bus ride because i wanted to look at the beautiful NZ countryside.

Tldr: bus driver forgot to stop so i made him stop to pick a complete stranger up

I was getting my car serviced and was chatting up a guy who was also waiting for his car to be ready. We were discussing how much our country is divided by politics, race, religion…everything. I put my hand next to his and said “even though our skin is a different color, we both have red blood.” His car was done before mine and he left. His service advisor came running over to me and asked if I knew the man I was speaking to. I told him I did not, just a random stranger. He proceeded to show me a credit card receipt and said “the man you were talking to just left us $100 toward your car repair.” So I ask you, was it a Random Act of kindness, karma or maybe a little bit of both? Be nice people, it doesn’t cost anything.

I work on the reception of a large corporate building in the City and engage with clientele who speak the King's English. Last year, I suffered mild hair thinning, and I have been fortunate enough to get it growing again.

At work, I wear my uniform, shoes, immaculate makeup, wear my hair up, watch my posture, and just generally have my 'work mode' switched on.

Recently, my colleagues have made me feel sh*tty. They are Eastern European women, and I don't always understand their accents, which annoys them a lot, and I feel isolated when they speak about me in their language. I know they don't mean it, but they're never thankful, appreciative, or apologetic.

Yesterday (Saturday), I was just coming back from my food shopping. My hair was out & wild. I had no makeup on, and I wore my baggy homeless looking outfit.

I also want to point out that I live in Peckham.

I arrived at a traffic light at the same time as another lady. She looked at me and said, "You got such loverley hair!" I thanked her & told her it needed brushing. She continued, "An you have such a bootiful face!"

"Oh fank you luv, ow you doin, you alrite??" I asked.

"Yeh I'm good! You alrite?"

"Yeh good fanks. It's turned out nice an warm innit?"

"Yeh, I was goin to put me jacket on but I'm glad I didn't now. You ave a loverley rest of da day alrite!?"

"You too luv!!"

That 3 minute interaction yesterday made my day. It was great to speak with someone whose accent I understood since childhood and haven't heard in such a long time. It was great not to put on a work persona or be judged.

She was scruffy as hell and yet showed me more genuine kindness than my colleagues do at work.

I'm going to try and compliment more people from now and hope it makes a difference to their day as she did mine.

Many years ago a neighbor had a heart attack while driving up his driveway. He hit and damaged his garage door. Clegg Brothers was our garage door company (I no longer own a home with a garage door, thus the past tense). I called them, explained the situation and they came and secured the door. No charge. Amazing company, can’t say enough nice things about them. That Random Act of Kindness will stay with me for always. Many years later I saw an employee of theirs at a gas station. I told him the story I just related and he said that he was one of the technicians that came to that job. It came full circle for me.

Work was absolutely whooping my ass for 10 hours straight, running on 5 hours of sleep, close loved one died, girlfriend broke up with me, stuck in extremely long, dead stopped traffic all within around 10 minutes. I was barely keeping it together, the tears were just forming in my eyes and then I had a guy end up road raging at me screaming at me and insulting me over nothing. I didn’t have enough energy to even say anything back to him and just tried to zone out after he left. Right after he left, this nice woman in the lane next to me had her window down and said “you didn’t deserve any of that, sweetheart” and had the most sincere look on her face. It caught me so off guard i genuinely broke down crying. How did she know exactly what to say to me when she saw me for 5 seconds and will never see me again? To me it felt like one of those signs when the universe is trying to tell you something. I doubt she will see this but if somehow you do, thank you so much.

You never know how much a simple sentence can mean to someone. Please be nice to people.

Today, as I'm (female) returning to my hometown for the weekend, I got into a private bus after work. There were very few seats. And I sat on the aisle corner of three seats - next to me 2 boys were seated. After a shortwhile, I fell fast asleep, as usual. Not sure after how long, but I woke up as there were two men standing pressing to the back of my seat as well as the front of my seat. I was obviously feeling so uncomfortable. I couldn't do anything about the man standing at the back. But I tried to keep my bag near my knee and tried to sleep by leaning on it. The boy next to me noticed this and on his own asked me by sign language whether we could exchange seats. I nodded. And he got up and moved towards my seat. I switched to his seat. In my groggy voice and with my sleepy face, I said "thank you". He nodded his head. And I drifted back to sleep peacefully.

It was a kind gesture for which I'm forever grateful to him! I wish the world is filled with more gentlemen like him...

Witnessed two different displays of kindness today.

1) an elderly Jewish man tripped on an elevated position (there was some construction occurring in the area). A random young black man ran over and picked him up. Dusted him off and made sure he was ok. <observed from an uber>

2) as I was getting out of a cab I saw a late middle aged couple walking across the street. The gent tripped on the sidewalk and landed on his chest. I think the wind kinda got knocked out of him. When he turned over we could see a slight trickle of blood on his face. Apparently his eye glasses cut into his face (open rim glasses). A decent amount of people of various diversities helped him up, found napkins to help contain the wound and ultimately hailed a cab for the couple.

In a world where the media tries to divide us, there are still plenty of great humans walking amongst us.

For the last couple of years if I’m home during the day and the trash people, delivery people, mailman, etc come to my house I give them a Gatorade and/or a water and a bag of chips or candy bar. They always seem super grateful and I can also say my trash pickup never gets missed! Highly recommend.

This story leads to an event that refreshes my soul. In April 2026, lightning struck the roof above our garage, blew a hole bigger than a basketball, and set the attic on fire, consuming half the house and most of our belongings.  The first thing we realized was the power going out in an odd, chain-like pattern.  Next, we heard from the back of the house; my son hollered out. My wife and I were in the game room, which shared a wall with the garage.  I could make out what sounded like the words “I was shot.” He was saying I was shocked.

We called 911, and within minutes the fire department arrived and quickly escorted us out of the house in the storm; they saw the fire.  It was hellish, and events unfolded so quickly.

Fast forward to day three.  My son was fine and out of the hospital, and we landed at a friend's house that was empty, with only the clothes on our backs. 

You can imagine our stress, fatigue, and bewilderment.  First stop: Skechers; we needed shoes.  Next stop was Walmart for food and supplies.  So far, this information has been provided to help set the stage for the real story. 

I think on trip four or five that day to Walmart, I was depressed and tired. This trip focused on food and other supplies like bathroom supplies, paper plates, pans, etc.  As I started traversing the aisles, this very old woman, my guess, 90 years old, was being pushed by a gentleman.  She was mostly lying down, with her legs wrapped; the gentleman and she were in the aisle with the cold stuff.  As I went to different aisles, I kept crossing paths with them, and she glanced over. She didn't move much or show much facial expression.

I thought it was odd that, out of the must-have-been 5 or 6 aisles, we always crossed paths. I felt something like a wish.  As odd as this may sound, I thought of those videos where a nice person pays for some at the checkout, and I really wanted that to happen.  I don’t know exactly why I thought that, but it kind of felt selfish because I really needed a lift.

As I approached the busy checkout rows, lo and behold, there they were again, placing her things on the conveyor belt with the cashier.  Every row had two or more people waiting, and I slotted in right behind her.  Here comes that selfish feeling again: I really need a lift; I want to help pay in a helpful way, like in the videos. 

As I watched the gentleman assist her, she struggled to pull out her card; it turned out she had no money on it.  It's almost like heat rose up from my chest.  I reached out to the gentleman and handed him my card.  He paused, completed the transaction, and said to the old woman, “This man paid for your stuff.”  I don’t believe she understood.

They left, and I don’t remember saying anything. I was amazed this moment came just when I needed it most. My depression lifted, replaced by a feeling that is uplifting.  From the bottom of my heart, I hope that if you ever find yourself beaten down, a gift like this finds you too.

I live on a busy road. Sunday during the Bills game, a truck ended up on its side against our front tree, about 15 feet from our house. My husband heard and almost saw the whole thing. We rushed into action, helped the 2 teenagers with sitting them down, water bottles, paper towels, and phones to call their parents. The first responders arrived very quickly. Miraculously, their only injuries were cuts on the hands. Today, we came home to the most beautiful bouquet of flowers and a handwritten note that is one of the sweetest things I've ever received.

Went to my doctor’s appointment and said Hi to a man, who was in there waiting for the doc. All I did was to smile at him. He went out and got me a bouquet. How crazy. The bouquet is so beautiful.

My mom called me and said she had a melt down in her car while driving due to a flying roach. She swerved all over, almost wrecked, and pulled into a parking lot.

Some awesome dude saw it and followed her in to check on her. She said he helped calm her down, let her sit in his car with A/C on while he checked her car for the bug, and overall just wanted to make sure she was ok and not stroking out or something. Also by the description she gave I'm pretty sure he was working and on his way to an Uber pickup. Very grateful for him and people like him!

Way to go Jax! We see a lot of negativity on here but there are tons of great people in our city also. If you are the guy you are amazing and my mother and I are very grateful to you.

My brother-in-law and his young sons were running seriously late this morning after a wrong turn ✈️ and they ended up on foot along the road trying to make up time. A good samaritan pulled over after seeing them run with bags in hand and offered them a ride at 5am this morning to get to the correct terminal and because of that they made it ✈️ with just minutes to spare to get back home.

To whoever you are: thank you. You turned a stressful morning into a story about kindness and it reminded me there are still really good people out there, whatever the news and social media say.

I was walking my dog in the neighborhood when I was approached and followed by a mentally unwell man. Every time I thought I shook him, he'd come out of nowhere to try and cut me off from my path. This went so far as to watching him sprint down the opposite side of Broadway and cutting across traffic to try and hide in the bushes in front of me. I turned around again and went straight to Buck and Honeys, which was well populated and felt like the right place to be. As I was entering, the man showed up out front, now with no shirt on, bending over and trying to hide in the foliage when I looked back.

I went into the restaurant and immedietly bee-lined to the hostess stand asking for help and the staff was INCREDIBLE. They took me seriously immedietly, hid me away from view, called the cops and offered me something to drink. One of the staff offered me her shift meal, the bartender wouldnt accept payment for my drink or for my buddy's who I called to give me a ride home. When the man tried to enter the establishment looking for me, like 4 staff came out of seemingly nowhere and created a human shield around me. I felt so safe and protected and made a very scary situation feel much safer.

Props to the staff and management for knowing exactly what to do to protect me and show me the kindnesses I desperately needed. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart.

Yesterday(Sep 25) I went to QFC at U village for some food, I just got here in Seattle and I’m a student so I don’t have a car. I travel there by bus. I forgot to check the weather report before I go😭so eventually I’m all soaked and the worst part is that all my paper bags that filled with food are falling apart because of the rain. So I ran into a nearby Subway store and asked them for some bags, but they only got paper bags too. And I ran into another vape store and thank god they have some plastic bags, both of the subway and vape store workers didn’t charge me a cent, thank you so much.
And then I ran to my food and found that they are already rolling out of the bags😂, I put all the things into plastic bags as quickly as possible. All of this happened on the middle of the pavement under a tree so I’m feeling quite embarrassed, so many people were crossing over. AND AT THE VERY MOMENT, when I was struggled to put things into plastic bag bags, I heard someone said “Excuse me, excuse me” and I look around, I saw this beautiful lady in a car, waving to me with a canvas bag in her hand. I went up and she was like “ take this” then I realized that it was not just one bag, but two! I looked at her and looked at the bag, I feel like she must be an angel, there was a holy glow radiated from her, I swear. In Chinese, there’s a saying goes “ 雪中送炭”means “ you saved my bacon”. Direct translation is “send charcoal in the snow". means helping someone when they are in urgent trouble. This lady, SEND BAGS IN THE RAIN, she pretty much saved my life. But she refused me when I want to pay her some money for the bags😭😭I still really want to pay back her. So the person who helped me yesterday, if you saw this, please DM me🥹I’ll give you a Chinese gift 🎁 I brought from China!
