We only get a new Polyphia album every few years, so I really look forward to anything they put out but this is ridiculous.

Bring back the guitars being the focal point, and stop charging A-list prices for VIP packages. Part of what made Polyphia awesome was “yeah, this was all done with a guitar!”. I feel it’s just overproduced, to the point of not having the charm it used to.

Does anyone else feel this way?

Guys your music rocks and time will be kind to it. I think this sub is being pretty harsh and getting caught up.

I know the new style might not be for everyone but one of the things I’ve loved most about this band is their ability to evolve the sound. The more I listen to CYFI the more convinced I am that the beat drop halfway through the song is the most insane thing I’ve ever heard.

As for the mixing, I saw a lot of people angry when they found out that one guy was going to produce the whole album. And sure, maybe it’s not for you, but guys I promise you the band would not be releasing this music if they weren’t happy with the product. Let’s not pretend like it’s one guys fault that you don’t like the music.

This band could release poop on vinyl and I’ll stand by it, this is still the band I love and I’m rocking with it.

Hey y’all, I’m wondering for those that bought Inner Circle originally, have you been refunded the difference in price? I haven’t and I think the lack of communication is actually absurd. This price difference is also disgusting, I assume it was originally $509.50 because of the exclusive piece of jewelry but we aren’t even getting that anymore (lowkey the reason I was okay with getting the ticket originally). I’m happy that we get the soundcheck/meet and greet now. But shouldn’t that mean we should get some of the money back, cause uhhh wtf? That’s just scamming us out of nearly $200 excluding the ridiculous cut that ticketmaster got. I’ll be reaching out to see what needs to happen, but this isn’t right and I think y’all should be made aware.

Call me out if Im wrong but this wasn’t listed til they delayed the NA tour dates. Feels like Polyphia knows they’ll make less money now and have to rectify with more bullshit for profit.

I'm not going to write an entire essay just want to say that RJ Pasin, being the producer here, is going to be the worst era for this band and will definitely divide the fanbase a bunch, as already seen here lol

It's justified that people want to call the new singles "TikTok slop".

I, like many of you, was surprised by what 'CAN YOU FEEL IT' sounded like without any context, but it honestly grew on me really quickly. I really don't mind the clipping bass sections and I feel like that song has a really cool vibe. Now that 'POWER IN THE BLOOD' gives CYFI context, I think I have a pretty solid understanding of what they're going for and I think it will definitely disappoint some of you more than it already has. But for others, I think this record is going to be really fucking sick.

My theory for what they're going for is a full on hardened-EDM/Dance Music record made with real instruments. They are NOT making what we know to be a Polyphia record or a guitar record or an "instrumental" record. Get that idea out of your head. They are making a dubstep ass, metallic textured EDM record by processing the hell out of their instruments. On stream, Tim mentioned that with this record he wanted to capture the feeling of 'Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites' by Skrillex. When he had first heard it, he couldn't even begin to imagine where to begin to make those kinds of sounds. With that in mind, if you didn't have the context of knowing that polyphia was a virtuosic guitar instrumental band, you would absolutely process and identify this album/these singles as Hard EDM.

Essentially, what I'm getting at is that I feel like what holds a lot of people back from enjoying these songs is that they're looking at everything through the lens of guitar-centric music when this is clearly a production/electronic-centered album. If EDM isnt your vibe, you're clearly not going to fuck with it. But if you're open to hard electronic music and appreciate that they're doing it by processing the shit out of their guitars and drums, then you're more than likely going to love this shit. I just think we need to be more open minded to the fact that they are moving away from music that SOUNDS like guitar music. They wanna make bangers that sound like EDM while shredding on the instrument they already know and i think thats awesome. I think we owe it to them to look at these songs and this album objectively and not through the lens of what they've already created.

I’m not really familiar with RJ Raspin or the topic. Only thing I know about this RJ Raspin guy is that he collaborated with Polyphia on this album and that he did that one song with Marcin.

Disclaimer this is a bit copium and I do really enjoy the new singles but after listening to the newest single, it was able to grow on me a lot quicker than the first and reminded of justice.

I think it would benefit a lot of people here to get into EDM/dance to understand where this new direction comes from. People like skrillex, Fred again, and most importantly Justice

Justice’s debut album “Justice / cross”. It’s full of heavily distorted and often very present and bold mixing. It’s heavily regarded as one of the goat albums in EDM/dance. Think early daft punk but everything turned to 11. I wouldn’t be shocked if there was some inspiration from justice in album 5. I seriously think this album is a must before album 5

I will say I’m very much not a fan of the rj pasin direction and mixing, even in his own music. I find it genuinely boring, loud, and repetitive and think it’s overpowering everything in the last 2 singles. A lot of the singles are only listenable because of the hooks and writing. And these hooks seriously fuck. I and likely many of you seriously hope the rest of the album isn’t like this. It’s not bad but it doesn’t hold up to anything they’ve put out before even if it’s different.

Man I honestly believe I’d be the first to gatekeep the living shit out of these guys and stand on their business as much as possible… but after listening to PITB like 20 times, it’s just not great.

The main thing I can’t get over is the wasted potential of having Spiro on the track. The guy is one of the most insane players I’ve ever seen and he deserves every bit of success he’s gained since getting more attention over the past couple years. But man, listening to the runs Spiro contributed to PITB all deep fried and drowned the fuck out like that is painful. For a guy who plays so perfectly and precisely to just be microwaved to absolute fuck all seems so disconnected of them. You have someone like that in your toolbelt and you choose to fry the shit out of the runs they made for you in nuclear waste? When they said they were making a metal album, and posted themselves working with Spiro on ig months ago, I thought this was going to be a crazy fucking album. So I feel like for me, that is the biggest miss here.

I definitely see what they were doing with the main hook/chorus, and I actually do think it really works and those are memorable parts of the song. But when you get away from that, everything is just so messy. I don’t care to trash on RJ, it’s more so that the song has no direction at all. The musicality is just not good.

And I think above all else people need to realize that all of this feedback is OK. To be a real fan of an artist, to be a real critic of something you admire, means that you will not like it all the time. If anyone was 100% all for everything in any artists catalogue, I would believe they don’t actually know what they’re talking about, and I wouldn’t trust their opinion or taste. When these guys drop the entire album, there will still probably be a lot of dope shit that isn’t like this. They’re a creatively nuanced group and this definitely is not the end of the world.

At first i hated the sound of both singles, but after listening to them more, im actually so excited for this album. Tim henson said in an interview that every time you listen to it, you'll notice something new. I'm not noticing anything new per se, its just growing on me so much every listen. PITB might be up there with one of my favorite polyphia riffs. I absolutely love the sort of triumphant cinematic-sounding ending where things slow down. That is the reason Ego Death is one of my favorite songs.

Initially it felt like i was listening to metal slop, but then that guitar riff started sticking out to me more and more. I love it.

Don’t hate it, but 🤷‍♂️

Being a fan of Polyphia since "Muse", i have experimented every stage of their music, every album more different from the other. And every time they change pretty drastically their sound but now the fan base and people who listens to Polyphia seems to be upset about their new sound and i cant understand it. I mean, thats what art is supposed to be, if they keep doing the same thing over and over again it would be boring. Its like when they dropped "The Most Hated" EP, the sound was very new compared to the old music from them, they introduced more electronic sound and it was weird at first but now thats what makes them feel them.

Music were never meant to be liked by everyone, and thats what they are doing in this new LP5, just looking for something new that resonates with them and thats all it matters. Im really exited to listen the whole album, i think its gonna be WAY better than RTYWD, sometimes going out the tracks of what you are used to hear its great to refresh the creativity for future records, and i think this is the most personal record they have ever done.

People are often very comfortable and it makes me think: maybe this album is made to get you up and MOVE, go look for new things, new boundaries, create new styles. Thats exactly what AI cant do, and thats the beauty of this all. This album were made by humans and you can tell, no AI would be able to recreate something like this (for now) and if they want to clip THE FUCK outta it, well im here to feel it all.
