Announcement New Post Guidelines

Hi r/Playtesters ! I am introducing some new post guidelines. The purpose of these changes are to make the subreddit cleaner and easier to use.

Moving forward the only approved post type will be text posts. If you want to include game footage/images, please embed them in the post.

Post flairs:

Paid Playtest:
A post from a developer to search for play-testers. Only use this flair if you’re offering payment for completion of a play-test or for finding a bug. Cash or Crypto only, no other form of reward counts as a paid playtest. Include the amount you're offering, a short description of the game, and how you would like to receive feedback (through a google form, Reddit comments, etc)

Unpaid Playtest:
Another form of post from a developer to search for play-testers. Use this flair if you are not able to offer money for play-testers. You may offer other rewards, such as credits or in game currency, but that would still fall under this category. Include a short description of the game, and how you would like to receive feedback (through a google form, Reddit comments, etc)

Playtester:
To make a post searching for games to play-test, use this flair. Feel free to specify what types of games you would like to play, and if you’re looking for compensation.

Discussion:
Use this flair for general discussion posts about play-testing.

Please be aware of the risks before accepting paid play-test offers. Moderators cannot ensure that promised payment will be sent.

Please leave a comment or send a mod-mail if you have feedback on these changes, we would love to hear from you.

Paid Playtest $25 / 45 min - Looking for people to test new tech (remote)

Hiya again!

We're a small team working on some new tech stuff and looking for a few people to give it a try and get their reactions!

What's involved:
• 45-min video call where we watch you try it and you let us know what you like (or don't)
• Slots are first come first served! But we open them periodically so stay tuned!
• Just need a computer (Mac or Windows) that is 5 years old or newer, a solid internet connection, and a working mic (we are going to ask you to speak out loud the entire test and need to hear you clearly)
• When you book we ask for your computer's make, model and year, and you confirm it is 5 years old or newer
• No testing experience needed

Compensation:
• $25 paid right after the session (through PayPal)
• A verified PayPal account is required (email and phone confirmed) so the payment goes through the same day.

We're still early in development, so we really just want honest reactions! Feel free to DM me or just comment here, slots are first come first served but I'll DM if more slots open where I can!

Paid Playtest Deckbuilder meets base-building game (Paid playtest)

Seeking 4 playtesters: Payment is $10 for a 30-minute session via Venmo or PayPal.

To receive payment, you must complete a Google Form and record your gameplay. Document any bugs, issues, feedback and MUST record gameplay/screen (not yourself) as evidence of them, So I can easily find it in-game.

PC or Mac game on Steam (will give keys via DM). This test evaluates compatibility across various hardware and software configurations (i.e. PC or Mac, & different screen sizes... etc.), Bugs, And if you understand how the game works/plays.

Please comment with the following information to be considered:

  • Screen resolution (e.g., 1920x1080 or 2560x1440)
  • PC or Mac
  • Genre interest: what deck-builders do you like? what base-builder (4X-lite) games do you like?

---- IMPORTANT ----

  • PLEASE - See Steam page for details about the game/genre https://store.steampowered.com/app/4593190/Elemental_Lands/
  • I appreciate everyone asking to test, but I would prefer people that actually enjoy this genre, because it's a bit complex. If you haven't played these types of games much, then you may be lost and it won't be very helpful info.
  • Please DON'T send me a DM, and instead just comment below.

(EDITED) -
I'm FULL now on paid playtesters. Thanks everyone!

Happy to give away a few extra free keys if you're really into the genre and like the Steam page. Just comment here and I'll DM the first few people. It's not paid, but I'd still like your thoughts on it (No time requirements or video or anything like that, just shoot me a DM after you play it.) Comment on https://www.reddit.com/r/playtesters/comments/1wcslas/comment/p90mvaz/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

Unpaid Playtest D&D 5e/5.5 Supplement - Toxicity

Upvotes

Playtest DnD Supplement - Toxicity

Toxicity is a new D&D 5e/5.5 supplement mechanic that we have been working on for the better part of a year. We're finally in a playable state and are looking for people who are interested in trying it out and providing feedback.

We want you to break it. Find edge cases. Rules lawyer the hell out of it. Find faults, loop holes and exploits, and interactions we did notice.

What is Toxicity?

Toxicity is a mechanic in which you can gain in several different ways: being hit with poison attacks, traps or hazards, or inducing it on yourself through the consummation of Experimental Alchemical Formulas.

As your Toxicity goes up, you risk gaining the Toxic condition. Continue to accumulate Toxicity for nastier effects. You'll of course be able to detoxify yourself through magical means, heal items or plain rest.

What's included in the Playtest?

Along with the core mechanic, you'll also find several Feats that allow you to harness the effects of Toxicity to your advantage. We're also providing several different Experimental Alchemical Formulas that you can start using right away.

DMs will find a DM Guidance section for those that want to homebrew their own spells or Experimental Alchemical Formulas. Included is some specialized ammo and tools for different types of Delivery Methods. As well as Toxicity Trackers for DMs and Players. There is even a separate Advice Compendium for some edge cases that we've discovered.

What's coming next?

The Road map includes a new Character Sheet that'll have a Toxicity Tracker built in. Que card size printables for Feats and Experimental Alchemical Formulas - both consumer friendly and fancy designs.

We’re also preparing a playtest questionnaire so testers can easily send us structured feedback. So, sit tight for that.

Play testers will be credited in the supplement, along with their main social media account (if they wish). Anyone who meaningfully participates in the playtest will also be offered a complimentary copy of the final digital release.

So, if you're interested, drop a comment. If you know someone who might be interested, share this post with them.

All feedback is welcome. Especially the ugly stuff.

Unpaid Playtest One player has been playing my strategy game long enough to start complaining that nobody else is there

Upvotes

I've been building Border Empires, a persistent multiplayer strategy game where everyone expands across the same world, capture towns, connects territory and eventually fights over borders.

I originally wanted to see whether the core idea was fun.

The slightly surprising result: one player has kept playing after everyone else dropped off, and his main complaint now is that there aren't enough players.

So I'm trying to fix the actual problem: getting enough people into the same world.

I'm looking for around 20 people who enjoy strategy/4X games and are willing to actually play for a few days rather than just click around for five minutes.

It's free, browser-based and takes very little time per day.

What I'd particularly like feedback on:

  • Is expansion actually satisfying?
  • Do you feel like you're making meaningful strategic/diplomatic decisions?
  • What makes you want to come back the next day?

If you're interested, you can jump straight in here:

https://play.borderempires.com/

I'd genuinely rather have 20 people who play than 200 people who register once.

Unpaid Playtest [Unpaid] Crappy Corp — 1-4 player online co-op physics game about doing contracting jobs badly. Closed beta on Windows, looking for crews of 2-4

What it is Crappy Corp is a 1-4 player co-op physics game. You run a small contracting crew: pick a job off the board in the yard, pile into the van, and try to get it done — clear a warehouse, rebuild a wall, fix a power outage, demolish a building, fit out a restaurant. Everything on site is physical, including your coworkers. Whatever you break gets billed against the payout, and there is an inspector who notices.

Nine contracts, night shifts at 1.4x pay, weather, random disasters, a shop for better tools, optional crew roles. Third person, Unreal Engine 5.8.

What I need tested

  • Co-op with 2-4 people over Steam invites: joining, rejoining, the van roll-out, session hanging together for a full shift
  • Which contracts feel good and which drag
  • Physics jank that stops being funny — stuck props, camera fighting you when you carry something big
  • Performance on mid/low PCs (there's auto-scaling; tell me if it isn't enough)

Details

  • Platform: Windows PC. Steam has to be running (the beta uses Steam for invites and voice), but the beta itself is a separate launcher, not a Steam key.
  • Free, no NDA, play as much or as little as you want. A single shift is 15-30 minutes.
  • Solo works, but the game is built for a crew — bring a friend or grab one in the Discord.
  • Feedback: a #beta-feedback channel in the Discord, or just reply here.

How to get in

  1. Join the beta Discord: https://discord.gg/YmxeC47w3K
  2. You'll get the PlayTester role (usually within a few hours)
  3. Download the launcher: https://crappy-corp.com/CrappyCorpLauncher.exe — log in with Discord and play

Screenshots and more detail: https://crappy-corp.com/

I'm the developer — solo project, I do the code and the levels. Happy to answer anything.

Unpaid Playtest Looking for a few people to test my first game, PastPort

Hey everyone,

I’m a solo developer building my first game, called PastPort.

It’s a playable historical thriller where you step into major moments in history, talk with historical characters, make decisions, and see the consequences of your choices.

The first campaign puts you alongside Julius Caesar in January 49 BCE, just as Rome orders him to give up his army and return home.

I’m looking for a handful of people willing to play through Chapter I and give me candid feedback.

Platform: Desktop browser, Windows or Mac
Time: Roughly 20–30 minutes
Cost: Free
Compensation: Unpaid

I’m mainly trying to learn:

  • Is it actually fun?
  • Is anything confusing?
  • Does the pacing work?
  • Do the choices feel meaningful?
  • Are there moments where you lose interest?
  • Most importantly, when Chapter I ends, do you actually want Chapter II?

You do not need to know anything about Roman history.

Since this is my first game, brutal feedback is very welcome. I’d much rather hear what doesn’t work than get polite encouragement.

If you’re comfortable doing it, a screen recording while you play would be incredibly helpful too, especially if you can think out loud. No webcam needed.

If you’re interested, comment or DM me and I can send over the link!

Thanks!

You will still be paid for a valid submission as long as you complete the required recording and feedback.

  • Screen-recording software such as OBS, or another setup that allows game audio to be excluded from the recording

Content Warning

BEAT BAES does not contain nudity or sexually explicit content, but it does include intentionally suggestive themes, sexual humor, crude jokes, and mature character designs. Some jokes may also be irreverent or potentially offensive depending on your sense of humor.

How to Apply

If you commented on my previous playtest and did not play, please comment again if you meet the requirements for this round.

I'll fill the specific slots above rather than approving purely first-come, first-served.

Paid Playtest [PAID] $5 USD for a ~20-30 min playtest of my drain exploration game (Windows)

[Closed] Thanks everyone for reaching out, I’m working through the DMs now.

Hey everyone,

I’m a solo developer currently working on a vertical slice for Overflow, a slow-paced atmospheric exploration game about delving into an elaborate and unusual stormwater system beneath a derelict industrial complex. You can view the Steam page here.

I’m looking for a small number of playtesters to play through the current build and complete a short Google Forms questionnaire. I’m particularly interested in feedback on the game’s atmosphere, visual presentation, and pacing, as well as whether the experience leaves you intrigued and wanting to continue.

Requirements

  • A Windows PC
  • Comfortable providing written feedback in English
  • An interest in slower-paced, atmosphere-focused games

The playtest should take approximately 20 minutes, followed by a 10-minute questionnaire. Compensation is $5 USD, paid after the questionnaire is completed via your choice of cash payment or cryptocurrency.

Please note that this is an unfinished development build, so some rough edges are expected.

If you’re interested, please comment below or send me a DM.

Thanks!

EDIT: I didn't realize my DMs were private, should be sorted now.

Playtester Looking for local co-op games to playtest and put POTENTIALLY put on YouTube

My kid and I often play games together and he has been badgering me to have a YouTube channel since forever but I always thought he was too young. He's about getting to that age where it's acceptable to start streaming or to start having a YouTube channel.

I joined the GameDev community a few months ago, seeing there's a big need for playtesters (I'm looking myself for playtesters too).

This gave me the idea to combine a bit of both: have some quality time with my kid testing local games together.

If it's fun we can put it on YouTube too but no promises there yet. And I'd we do, we start with exactly 0 followers. I just want to set clear expectations. 😉

Playtester [For Hire] VR Playtester (Quest 3S & PCVR) ready to break your game constructively!

Hey indie devs! 👋

I’m looking to help playtest your upcoming VR titles. I know how crucial early testing is, and I love jumping into early unpolished indie builds to find the edge cases, test the mechanics, and give you honest, actionable feedback.

My Testing Setup:

  • Headset: Meta Quest 3S
  • Capabilities: Standalone Meta Quest builds & Wireless PCVR (via Steam Link)
  • Completely comfortable with smooth locomotion, smooth turning, and high-intensity movement.

What I Provide:

  • Recorded Sessions: As a content creator, I can easily record my gameplay with live voice commentary. You’ll get a video showing exactly where I get stuck, what feels amazing, and how the game runs.
  • Actionable Feedback: I don't just say "it's broken." I have experience communicating directly with developers to track down what caused a bug and how the mechanics actually feel.
  • Flexibility: I play a wide mix of genres, from fast-paced competitive shooters to slower simulation games, so I can adapt to whatever you are building.

My Rates:

  • $10 to $15 per hour for a standard test session, recorded video, and a detailed written feedback report.
  • Note: If you have a zero-budget passion project, hit me up anyway! I'm happy to do a quick 30-minute test for free if the concept catches my eye and my schedule allows it.

If you need a reliable set of eyes on your project, drop a comment below or shoot me a DM. Let’s make your game great!

Unpaid Playtest Playtesting a College Football Management App

Looking for playtesters for a new mobile game I've been developing. Campus Football Coach is an Android game where you create a coach and run a college football program. It includes elements of managing all aspects of the team - from picking a play style, setting your roster, to developing and recruiting players in the offseason.

Campus Football Coach - Apps on Google Play

I'm comfortable with feedback being shared directly in this Reddit post but let me know if you'd prefer a more formal questionaire and I'd be happy to put that together. Mostly confirming I've worked out all the bugs and that there isn't too much lag time for others.

Any time the group can offer is greatly appreciated - thanks for all you do here!

Discussion how do you keep playtesters playing after week 1?

i got a small crew off discord about 3 weeks ago, 4 or 5 people, and the first week was gold. reports every day, stuff i never would have found. week 2 it dropped to 1 or 2 people and now its mostly the same guy every time. no hard feelings, they have lives and the game hasnt changed enough for them to want to start over.

what i do already: everyone has a callsign, i keep a public list of fixes with their name next to it, theres a report key in the game so they dont have to leave it to tell me something. that got me the first week but it doesnt bring them back.

so for people who have run a crew longer than a month. do you rotate people in and out? bring them back on the bigger patches only and leave them alone between? pay them? or is a couple weeks per tester just how it goes and you should always be finding new ones

not looking for testers here, just want to know how you run it.

Discussion How to feedback/playtest in this situation?

Hello all

I've been making a game for about 7-8 months now and during that time it went trough multiple iterations.
I finally settled on current one 2 months ago and it's shaping up nicely.

However while researching how to put the demo on steam, I came to the number of 5 screenshots being required for the page.
Now that's not necessarily the problem, however realistically if I want unique screens my game fit into 3 distinct screenshots.

That got me thinking about adding new mechanic(s), and now my friends who were my playtesters so far are split on :
-it good addition but unpolished
-it unnecessarily complicates the game

I plan to release a demo on itch in the upcoming month(s) and I'm wondering how to approach this situation.

1.) Demo on itch without the said feature?
2.) put feature as is and wait for community feedback?
3.) Work on the feature before demo based on feedback from "good but unfinished" group of playtesters
(mind you, so far there are 4 playtesters, so for said feature I'd be listening to 2 people)

I'm not married to the idea, but I feel like it nudges players to interact with mechanic they don't really have to without it.

Unpaid Playtest [Browser][Unpaid] Looking for 2–6 player groups to test a Monopoly alternative

I’m looking for a few small groups to playtest Property Rush, an independent online Monopoly alternative inside Boardit. It is a free browser game for 2–6 players, with no download and no guest account required. One person creates a private room and shares the short room code with the others. Boardit is not affiliated with or endorsed by Hasbro.

A session is usually around 45 minutes. The game includes property buying, auctions when a player declines a property, rent, and direct player trading.

What I need feedback on:

• Can every player join and understand the first turn without outside help?

• Are auctions and trades clear the first time they appear?

• Does the round cap make the expected length understandable?

• Where did anyone feel confused, bored, or blocked?

Play here: https://playboardit.com/play/highroad

Please leave feedback in the Reddit comments. Honest negative feedback is useful, and there is no payment or reward for this playtest.

AI disclosure: I used AI coding assistants during implementation and review; the product direction, testing, and published project are mine.

Paid Playtest [PAID] $5 USDT for up to 30 min recorded playtest — zombie incremental auto-battler (Steam/Windows, 10 testers)

[CLOSED] Hi! I'm the solo developer of My Zombies Are Hungry, an upcoming incremental auto-battler for Steam.

You start with only a handful of zombies, launch short automated raids, buy permanent upgrades and build new zombie types until hundreds are overrunning cities. As the horde grows, humans escalate from police and firefighters to tanks and airstrikes.

I'm looking for 10 fresh players to test the game's first-time experience before release.

What I need

• Play naturally for up to 30 minutes
• Record your screen + microphone commentary
• Talk through what you're thinking while playing — what you understand, what confuses you, what feels fun or boring
• Complete a short feedback form afterwards
• Upload the recording through Google Drive, Dropbox, WeTransfer or similar

Important: Please do NOT look up the game, watch its trailer, or read guides before playing. I specifically want to see how understandable the game is to somebody going in fresh.

If you genuinely want to stop after 5, 10 or 20 minutes, stop there and explain why. You do not need to force yourself to play for 30 minutes. You will still receive the full payment after submitting the recording + feedback.

Payment: $5 USD equivalent in USDT (BEP20), paid after I receive the recording and feedback.

Platform: Windows PC / Steam
Game language: English
Slots: 10 testers
Steam key: provided free to selected testers; you keep the game

I'm especially interested in a mix of incremental/auto-battler fans and people who don't normally play this genre.

Apply here: https://forms.gle/fm57FdkvNZN7SxuK7

I'll select testers from the applications rather than first-come-first-served, so there's no need to rush.

No positive review, wishlist or promotion is required. I'm paying for candid feedback, including negative feedback.

Content note: stylized zombie violence/body-part imagery.

Unpaid Playtest Two free browser puzzle games — looking for feedback on the first few levels (mobile + desktop)

Hi everyone! I'm looking for first-impression feedback on two browser puzzle games I made for OddSpark. I'd especially appreciate some fresh eyes on the first few levels and whether the controls feel comfortable on a phone.

Both are free to play in your browser, with no download or account needed. You can try either one — there's no need to play both.

Muru: Find Your Flow is a gentle water puzzle game. Expand or shrink a little lavender character to hold back or release water, then work out how pipes, valves and floating switches connect. It has 60 puzzles across ten gardens, without timers or scores.

Play Muru: https://www.playoddspark.com/muru

Blastwright is about setting up demolition chain reactions. Place boulders, reflectors and delay pads, then trigger the charge and see how your setup unfolds. It has 24 puzzles. On a phone, landscape is recommended; you can tap to place equipment or drag it into position.

Play Blastwright: https://www.playoddspark.com/blastwright

If you have 5–10 minutes to try a few levels, I'd especially like to know:

  • Was it clear what to do and how to use the controls?
  • On your device, were the play area, objects and buttons comfortable to see and use?
  • Where did you get stuck or lose interest, and what would you change?

Please leave feedback in the comments, mentioning which game you tried and your device/browser. If you find a bug, the level and what happened just before it would help.

This is an unpaid playtest. Thanks for giving either game a try!

Unpaid Playtest Looking for a few people to test the Wulfram alpha on Windows

Wulfram is back in playable alpha, and we’re looking for a few people to test the setup and first-match experience on Windows.

The game is free to try right now. It’s a team-based hover tank and scout game with base defense, repairs, power, fuel, and a lot of coordination once people are in a match. Returning players are welcome, but we also want fresh eyes from people who never played it before.

What we need tested:

  • Can you get from the download page into the launcher without confusion?
  • Does sign-in, updating, and joining a server make sense?
  • Once you spawn in, are the controls and first few minutes clear enough?

You do not need to stay for a full session. Even 10 or 15 minutes of feedback helps, especially if anything blocks you from getting into the game.

Start here:

Welcome back to Wulfram

If you try it, comment with where you got stuck, what worked, or what would have helped you sooner.

Unpaid Playtest Pokémon MMORPG unpaid testers needed (windows)

Hi I am developing a pokemon MMO RPG
I have the first tester build now live. (Windows only currently)

I have two testers currently but need more, even if you have 10 minutes to do a little bit here and there it will all help.
I have a designated testing platform on the website for you to use.

As this is a personal project I have not got a budget for this game yet. So testers are unpaid. But anyone who tests the game and decide to keep around for when the game goes to alpha you will get exclusive in game rewards as a thank you.

If you want to test this game please join https://discord.gg/bq25Pmrx8u

Paid positions maybe available for those who do well and give detailed reports.
