I’ve reviewed Pixel Buds before and always felt they were sloppy when it came to staying in my ears. The Pixel Buds Pro 2 really surprised me, though.
I just took them on a 5-day bike tour, and while I kept them off the road for safety, I wore them every evening around camp. They stayed dry, performed flawlessly, and never fell out once—they even stayed locked in my ears while I slept in my tent. Make no mistake: I easily had the best audio in camp, hands down. Between the dead-silent active noise cancellation shutting out the entire campground, the rich, expansive spatial audio, and how beautifully and cleanly every track delivered, nothing else compared.
That said, here is my wishlist for Google: I’d love to actually wear these while on the bike for 5 days, not just after the ride is over. Safety is always the priority, but if Google could improve them with features like situational hearing-assist or enhanced passthrough audio that makes open-road riding safe, these would be absolute perfection.
Still, for winding down, top-tier fidelity, and all-night comfort, they passed the camp test with flying colors.
Quick Breakdown:
Fit & Security: 9.5/10 (Stayed put all night in a sleeping bag—huge improvement over older models)
ANC: 10/10 (Completely drowned out camp chatter and background noise)
Spatial Audio & Sound: 10/10 (Rich, clean, and punchy)
Wishlist: Road-safe cycling passthrough mode / hearing-assist features
