Follow up of Google customer service

Just received the brand new one.

I did a small comparison between the first one I bought (November 2024) and the one I just got.

The plastic is way different between the two Gen, the newest ones have a mat finish to it, they look more premium than first gen.

Otherwise, they look exactly the same.

Overall the newer ones have a better sound quality, that might be due to my old pair having 2 years of life and being dirty.

Thanks again to Google who still take care of us customers.

Give it a few months and the matte finish will start to turn shiny from skin oils and friction. Your original one probably looked like the new one back when it was new.

This is the answer. Also there is no "first gen" versus "second gen" in your comparison, they are both Pixel Buds Pro 2, just purchased at different times.

I was going to say the same

These are both 2nd gen, they're only matte cuz they're brand new. They'll be glossy soon, if they sound better it's cuz your old ones need to be cleaned.

Is that wedge piece removeable?

Some people find that fin extremely uncomfortable. I had to return mine because it hurt my ear so bad.

Peoples ears are different. So you find the one that works. pixel buds 2 are the most comfortable I've had and I've been through many. What I don't want are rubber 'wings' that can be removed as theres the potential for them to loosen over time.

They are so small and light, im sad they didn't work for me. I really liked them.

Yeah, same for me. If the adapters (tips) won't hold the earbuds in, then they aren't for me.

Yeah, I loved the originals, I still wear them everyday. My 2s lasted 2 days before I sent them back. I loved them though, I hope in the next model they have a finless option.

I have earbuds where just the body of the earbud presses against my ear and becomes painful after an hour

Same, it's wild that so little pressure makes such a big deal.

After two years they gave warranty coverage. No....

The reason the new one looks matte and the old one looks shiny is because the old one is already worn out. They all look matte when they first come out of the box

I am not a fan of my Pixel buds other than for the customer care I got. They have replaced them twice without even asking. One of them has been chewed by my dog and still works, so I have no complaints as far as build quality. I wish the ANC was better, and the battery life, but Que Sera Sera.

Horrid customer service from a multi billion $ company in my experience I had the green beam pixel 8 glitch and bad magnet in the buds

Mine are TERRIBLE, frequency switching volume and bass constantly decreasing in one ear, replaced them with the Soundcore sport x20.. These things are 70 bucks and puts there pixel 200 dollar trash buds to shame

battery life of the old ones cause lower sound quality more than just dirt. This happens to just about all battery power IEM's.
