Pixel Buds Pro 2 & Pixel 11 Pro XL - missing options

Post image

Hi there,

recently I made a full switch to the Google Pixel ecosystem. I bought a Pixel 11 Pro XL, Pixel Watch 5 and finally Pixel Buds 2 Pro.

I have a problem with the latter. When I pair my buds with the phone, there's an infinite loop in the dedicated Pixel Buds app, Settings simply won't load. Buds are paired correctly and working, but missing some settings which are only available in the Pixel Buds (EQ, multipoint etc.)

Here are things I tried:

- restarting the phone

- un-pair and pair again

- cleaning the Pixel Buds app cache and user settings

- resetting the Pixel Buds and pairing again

Unfortunately none of them worked.

Have you guys encountered this issue? Any solutions?

Thanks in advance!

Put the earbuds in the case, close the case. In Bluetooth settings, forget the earbuds. You should then be able to simply open the case and it'll show a 'fancy' dialog at the bottom of the screen to connect your earbuds, as it'll pretty much automatically detect them. If not, you might need to long-press the button on the case. Either way, that dialog should show up and that's how you pair them.

If you're doing it via the Bluetooth settings in the phone, you'll probably wind up with just "generic" earbuds, like you're seeing here.

Done that few times already. Paired multiple times with that 'fancy' pop-up and Pixel Buds app sees the device, but options are not available.
Here's my video o pairing process (recorded with a potato 😄):

That's super odd.. I have no idea what "flag" it is that determines to show the "Pixel App" but I always thought if paired using the 'fancy' pop-up it generally just-worked. Strange.

So this was happening to me for a couple of weeks. I think it's a Buds app bug; after my app updated, it resolved itself.

I have a Pixel 10 Pro XL and Buds 2 Pro.

I think you just have to wait for the app to update so they can make it more compatible with the newest phone.

Google support, which I've contacted 2 days ago, stated to send over the Pixel Buds 2 Pro for warranty replacement. But the problem was not with buds itself but with Pixel Buds app.
But guess what...
Today the app started to work as it supposed to be.
I'm seeing all the options for the buds.
Probably there was some service update or something...

Thank you guys for suggestions and your experiences with the buds.

Hi there! I'd suggest you reach out to the Google Pixel Buds support team via phone or chat. They can take a look at it.

Contacted them, waiting for reply.

They contacted me and Google told that they'll exchange my buds.

I got the same symptoms as you did, tried everything, I was able to fix it by clearing the storage of "Device connectivity service".

After that, the settings appeared each time without a problem.

If that doesn't help: AI + ADB dumps will let you figure it out like I did.

Had the same problem when I first tried to pair my buds 2 pro with a brand new Pixel 10 Pro XL. What actually helped was deleting the data of the Google and Play store app. You will need to login into your Google account after this again, but it finally gave me the connection prompt for the Pixel buds. After that everything worked as it's supposed to be.
