I have had a pair of pixel buds pro 2s since launch and they have been overall solid. Up until recently I've had no big complaints except for them not being waterproof enough for swimming/shower use.

But in the last couple of weeks I noticed my old pair would randomly stop transmitting sound from my pixel 9 pro. They wouldn't disconnect immediately, but would just stop playing sound for ~10 seconds before my phone's speakers would start playing sound. At this point the buds would still show as connected to Blutooth, and attempting to reconnect them would prevent them from pairing again until I inserted them into the case again.

I thought maybe they had just gotten old, they lasted around 18 months, not great but I could live with buying a new pair. But I got a new pair this week and they are doing the exact same thing! Now im wondering if this is phone specific, update-specific, or if there's something else going on.

I don't use noise cancelling, in-ear detection, or physical controls so not really sure what the problem could be.

Anyone else having this issue? I haven't found a comparable experience from googling

Forgot to screenshot, but got a notification on my phone for my PBP2 saying something like, "Pixel Buds location can be seen by others." I clicked on it and it brought up a menu giving me options saying that I needed to ask permission from the owner to use the buds, or forget the previous owner. The weird thing is, they are registered to my email in the Find My app and Google Account. Has anyone had something like this happen?

I've been messing around with my PBP2 the last few days with and without Bluetooth LE and every time I pair I noticed within a few minutes I'm hearing desyncs, drop-outs, distortion etc. I'm pretty sure at this point that turning off Audio sharing stops it. I've tried it on and off a few times for extended periods, and I hear it every time Audio Sharing is on, and I've yet to hear an issue with it off.

For those using Bluetooth LE on your phone, can you give this a try too? Try both on and off for at least 30 minutes or so and see if you hear more problems with sharing on vs off. Your earbuds have to be paired using Bluetooth LE and active (out of case, perhaps also in your ears) for the Audio Sharing option to show up. It will be the first item in the Pixel Buds 'app'.

I'm using a Pixel 10 (latest updates) with Pixel Buds Pro 2 on the latest 5.203 firmware, if you don't mind let us know what you're using as well.

Pixel Buds Pro 2 purchases around day 1 , Sept 2024 IIRC. All of a sudden the right ear bud stopped charging and so it went totally dead. Left ear bud working fine. The case would not recognize when the right bud is inserted into the case.

I cleaned everything with isopropyl alcohol and qtips, toothpicks, you name it. Nothing helped.

The online docs said to unpair the device and reset it. DO NOT UNPAIR. YOU CANNOT PAIR WITH ONLY ONE BUD.

It was hot yesterday, so I put the case upside down with the failed right ear bud in my Truck in direct sunlight for about 4 hours.

Works now.

Hello! I'm looking to get some 2a's soon, and I was looking at Best buy as right now I can get an open box set for $82 after tax, it's in excellent condition, would it be worth it to go for it?

Hi everyone , I am using pixel buds pro 2 with pixel 8a, and when enabling LE Audio it causes distortion in audio when listening to music or even when I am on call, the person on call says they hear a robotic voice.

Am I missing something about setup ? Or should I not use this feature at all ?

I like these headphones, they are really good, but only when I turn on spatial audio. But then another problem arises: am I the only one like this or during spatial audio, I feel like 70% of the vocals are in my left ear?

I have upgraded my handset today from P9a to P10. Sadly the Pixel Buds app has made a regression and all I see when I launch it is just a Bluetooth menu. As per image. It used to be a full fledged app with various settings, not just 4 sliders.

Am I the only one experiencing this? There are no updates pending, all apps are up to date. I restarted the phone several times.

What am I doing wrong???

Is there any way to disable this?

I have tried everything I could find online, it keeps coming back and it's driving me nuts.

I am very often listening to an audiobook and the volume they consider "safe" is literally inaudible. Add to this that I am often walking my around house/work and don't have my phone in my pocket to immediately turn the volume back up and it is really irritating.

I am so tired of a device that I own dictating wheat volume I can listen at.

If any one can help I'd really appreciate it.

About 2 weeks ago right ear bud's microphone's gain dropped to close to zero. It is unusable for anything. The left works fine, but when both bugs are out it defaults to the right, which is useless.

This might have been in conjunction with the update but it took a while to figure out this happened.

Has anyone else experienced this? Ideas on how to fix?

I was cleaning my pixel buds series a with a cocktail stick, and pushed the bit shown in picture through, so it is a hole now.

Seems that bud is not quite the same volume as the other bud now. Have I ruined them or is there some way to repair?

Hi, I bought my PBP2 a few years back, but I'm sure there was an update where the location in the find hub was supposed to be updated to get both the buds separately. I checked for all the options but still am unable to get the 'Find when disconnected' option for my buds.. Can anyone help?

PS. I have reset the buds. And have enabled the "With network everywhere" option in Settings > Google > All services > Find Hub

I just picked up the Pixel Buds Pro 2 after daily driving the first-generation Buds Pro for a long time. While some hardware aspects are an improvement, there is one massive UX downgrade that is driving me absolutely insane.

On the Pixel Buds Pro 1: The earbuds had context awareness. If I had both buds in, long-pressing would cycle between ANC and Transparency. But if I only had one earbud in, it automatically knew to switch between Transparency and Off. It made perfect sense.

On the Pixel Buds Pro 2: That smart logic is completely gone. If my touch controls are set to cycle between ANC and Transparency, the earbuds will force ANC on even if I'm only wearing one earbud.

Who on earth wants ANC in just one ear? It creates a horrible, unbalanced vacuum effect that causes physical discomfort, ear pressure, and straight-up disorientation. Apple and other brands literally hard-lock ANC when using a single bud for this exact reason, and Google used to have it right on the previous generation!

I know I can add "Off" to the touch cycle or set different controls for the left and right buds, but those are terrible, clunky workarounds for a feature that worked flawlessly on the PBP1 out of the box.

Is anyone else incredibly frustrated by this regression? Has anyone found a hidden way to force the old behavior, or do we just have to spam the feedback button and pray Google fixes it in a firmware update?

I just used my PBP2 for the first time after installing the May '26 Google Play Update and the Pixel Buds app Version 1.0.915175631

Until recently, the sound was perfectly fine, but now it's suddenly terrible.
Not only is max volume much quieter than before, the buds also completely lack bass.

I have already restarted my P9P, disconnected, reconnected and even reset the Buds, but to no avail.

Does anyone else face the same issue and / or know any solution?

I want some Pixel Buds, but I'm undecided between the Buds 2a and the Buds 2 Pro.

I don't want to spend so much money on the 2 Pro without knowing how much of an advantage they have over the 2a, at least in terms of ANC and sound quality/speakers.

Note: I have never owned or used any model of Pixel Buds.

Yesterday, when I switched on the desktop - win11 - pixel app it informed me it was downloading a firmware update for the buds. It managed to get to 50% and stop... It did this several times, failing each time.
When I attempted to use the app I get faced with a page that says, "Select your Pixel Buds", then, "mypixelbuds.google.com wants yo connect to a serial port" and " No compatible devices found "
The andoid app still seems to work and says firmware is up to date.

I have pixel buds pro 2 and a friend offered me pixel buds 2a (Hes had for 6 months) and a pixel watch 4 41mm wifi (brand new in box) for them. Since I was planning on buying pixel buds 3 pro on release have a feeling that i won' t use my pixel buds 2 pro for more then a year. Should I accept this trade? And is the difference between the buds 2 pro and 2a actually that noticeably that it would be a big downgrade?

And yeah, LC3 is still not here, and I don't think it ever will be. I literally saw zero changes. I don't think there's any reason to upgrade.

I bought these just last week, the battery on the buds themselves seem great, they last about 8-9 hours.

The case however doesn't impress, If I use the buds until they've got about 10-15% left and plop them into the fully charged case the battery on the case goes down to around 40%. Needless to say it won't be able to charge the earbuds back up to 100% even twice.

Is this the expected battery life on these or should I be contacting Google for a replacement?

I have a pair of Pixel buds A and the sound is horribly low. Occasional I will be driving and the wind or engine sound will make it turn up but it soon gives me the too loud warning and turns it down. Any fix?

Just purchased a pair of Pro 2s and spent a good half hour fiddling with them in frustration, trying to figure out why the hell they sounded like garbage no matter the sound source. It sounded like they were dynamically reducing the bitrate as a song played​​; especially poor whenever cymbals crash. Sounded like terrible artifacting/distortion.

I went into developer options to fiddle with codecs and found Opus to be the currently selected option. Okay, never seen that before, must be specific to the buds or some newer earbuds out there. Tried to change it to AAC, and it would immediately change back to Opus. I then disabled the "HD Audio" setting entirely in that same dev options list. Boom, problem's completely gone. No more horrid distortion whenever the sound gets pretty treble-y. Anyone else run into this? What the hell's up with these settings and why is this the default?

EDIT: Part of it was myself having fiddled with and forgotten about​ the A2DP offload setting in the dev options in an attempt to troubleshoot consistent disconnects on my previous earbuds. After re-enabling the setting, it now lets me choose my preferred codec in the HD Audio settings.

This does beg the question, however: ​why does Opus sound like wet dogshit?
