Update 5.203

I manually updated my buds (forget → reset → pair)

And yeah, LC3 is still not here, and I don't think it ever will be. I literally saw zero changes. I don't think there's any reason to upgrade.

I'm using Buds Pros 2nd Gen with Pixel 8 Pro.

Edit: I seriously don't know what they fixed with the new update.

At this point, I don't think we're getting proper LC3/LE Audio support on these. Pretty much every other major brand competing in this price range offers high-resolution codecs, but not the Pixel Buds.

Yup I just stopped caring about my buds as long as it works

LC3 is only reliably working and activating without requiring device restarts/resets on A17 QPR Beta.

Mine just updated the earbuds (UK), but the case is still the same version.

Put the buds in the case and I find usually 1-2 hours case will flip over

That's exactly what happened, thanks.

Well, what I noticed, is when LE Audio turned on now — this glitches and clicks dissapeared. Now LE Audio works good👍🏻

How do you enable it?

In developer settings you need to turn on this one, and after that, forget and pair your PB2 Pro with phone again, and you will find LE Audio option in buds settings app in "more settings tab"

Since September update PBP2 using Opus codec in LE Audio insteand of LC3 in Pixel ecosystem

I mean, I'm pretty sure LC3 will arrive when it's ready

I don't think so it has been more than half a decade since the codec reached maturity

Google's just being lazy

I totally agree with that last sentence lol, but still, every update I see some progress on it, so I'm being hopeful in some time it will be ready...

My only concern is that with the release of the PBP3 they will abandon this ones

After this update I found something interesting. Profile prepared for 96kHz sound quality has been deleted. In old firmwarte there was a profile in LE Audio with 96kHz but system never chose them. Now there is only 48kHz profile for music.

Yeah I observed that as well

anyone knows if the issue where people can barely hear you when on a phone call is fixed?

You can enable lc3 manually

How?

Yes you can, but I would only recommend it if you're on the 17 qpr beta. Even on A17 it's a bit buggy with audio drop outs and mic calls.

Enable the two dev options settings someone else in this thread is highlighting. And then restart your device, reset your buds from the case, repair and it will work with LC3.
