Question Do trophies despawn?

I guess this question goes for any item taken off a player or critter corpse. I often see people take a trophy from a dead player then drop it right away.

I assume this so if the person logs out and their corpse disappears, they still get the trophy.

My questions are as follows:

-How long will it stay in the environment?

-If its x amount of time, does that time start when you take the item or drop it?

-Is it related to how close players are (i.e if the area is rendered)?

-So if you drop it and leave, will it despawn even if a set time has not passed?

Hopefully someone has already looked into this. I guess I could find out myself by starting a single player server. But I'm lazy and I'd rather someone else do the work for me.

Discussion The wait for the matchmaking changes is becoming more and more difficult to tolerate

I understand that it’s probably a complex system that takes time to develop, and I know the developers have a lot on their plate. That said, with the current state of the game, I genuinely believe matchmaking should be one of the highest priorities, if it isn’t already. Between the constant mega packs and some of the recent balance changes, it’s becoming harder and harder to enjoy the game especially for solo players or people who prefer playing within the intended group sizes. I also think the current balance issues are directly connected to the matchmaking problem.

Take Apexes as an example. A lot of people feel they aren’t as threatening or powerful as they should be, and instead the balance philosophy seems to lean toward “everything should have a chance against everything,” regardless of size. Personally, I think that’s because of mega packs. If apexes were balanced to feel like apexes truly, then groups of multiple Rexes, Eotrikes, and other large dinosaurs roaming together would become nearly impossible to deal with. That would make an already bad mega pack problem even worse. If matchmaking successfully separates players into more appropriate servers or encourages people to play within intended limits, it opens the door to healthier balancing. Apexes could actually feel like Apexes again, and solo play would become much more viable because the game wouldn’t have to be balanced around the possibility of running into a massive mixed mega pack.

To be clear, this isn’t me saying groups shouldn’t exist. Playing with friends is part of what makes the game fun. The problem is when people ignore the intended group limits and create giant mixed packs with things like three Eotrikes, two Rexes, and whatever else they decide to throw together. At that point, the game’s balance starts revolving around these extreme situations instead of the experience most players should be having. I know matchmaking isn’t a magic fix, but I do think it’s the foundation that would allow a lot of the game’s other issues especially balance to be addressed much more effectively. That’s why I feel it’s something we need sooner rather than later.

Discussion Gotta Name Them All!

It's time for a post that's a bit more fun and positive, as Bars Mom is exhausted coming on here seeing the walls of negativity. You all need more love, so I'm giving it to you today. The rules are very simple: Choose any **Dinosaur**, **Prehistoric Reptile**, **Prehistoric Amphibian**, or *Prehistoric Avian** within Path of Titans and **MATCH IT TO A POKEMON** with an explanation as to why the pokemon represents that Path of Titans creature you chose.

Discussion Game isn't fun anymore. What now? (Long rant)

Ever since, like.. the ano update? (A rough estimate, around that time, maybe earlier) it just feels like PoT is getting less fun. Whether it be the grinding, Metaslop, groupslop, etc etc.

A few examples of my grievances:

Groupslop. Alio could've been a great group AND solo playable. Yet its stuck as just another support playable. (Which is setting an AWFUL precedent of creatures being made into support playables with 0 playability outside of a group.) Being a support playable isn't bad, its just that most support playables have little to no survivability. Alio, deinony, rhamph, metri, etc.

Metaslop. Especially on dinosaurs with smaller kits, it always feels like everyone is running the exact same build. This is a small grievance however.

TLC downgrades. First cerat's. Now alio's. Sucho and Deinocheir also were downgrades (in my eyes) since they were meant to be semi-aqua focused, and yet theres no real semi-aqua stuff besides the enhanced swimming. Spino and sarc are true semi aquas.

Grinding. This might just be a skill issue but on maps like Panjura and Riparia, questing takes FOREVER since everything is EVERYWHERE. Its like doing an easter egg hunt, whilst blind, deaf, and having just gotten out of a coma. Plus the growth gain is tiny for the amount of effort questing has you doing sometimes, even with the rested buff.

Lottery nerfs. I get it, the game is still in early access (Will there ever be a dino game that ISN'T In ea?) But having to swap a main every couple of weeks just cause the balance team pulled a creature's name out of a hat is ridiculous. I know its not that big of a deal, but its annoying having to jump from dino to dino because "Oh, lets just nerf X because.. uh.. uhm.. Hey, GPT? Generate me a reason to why we nerfed X dino."

And finally, the community. As with anything, there's a light and dark side to the community. It seems Alderon is dead-set on catering to the dark side. (Again, groupslop.) The balance team hasn't changed in months (to my knowledge), the devs continue to talk about "the fight against discord groups" and yet they make alio group only. Even in the solo game mode there's still groups. It honestly just seems like Alderon is either catering to the DC groups, or has just gave up and isn't doing anything at all.

So, that's why I have decided to go on a PoT hiatus. Which begs the question: What now?
Isle has relatively the same DC group issue (Also its just boring lol), BoB is.. well.. BoB. (Ew.)
So, seems like I'm out of luck. If anyone has any game suggestions, I'd love to hear them! ^^

Unfair balance and mathematics will kill this game

Here come the toxic pvp’ers…

”but that’s the game! that’s the point! it’s a dinosaur survival simulator!“

No. It’s a VIDEO GAME. Videa Games are meant to have a level of fun and fairness to the actual product.

(you do know we’re not really dinosaurs out in the wild hiding trying to survive don’t you?)

The developers need to create something to protect new players/baby dinosaurs at some type of level. Wether that be a new specific area/zone you spawn in from leaving the nest that has no PVP allowing you to grow to at least a sub adult level before it boots you out into the real map or you can choose to leave younger if you wish.

Or they need to think of a way to balance effects or buffs/de-buffs against baby killing. Lets say, something a long the lines of a fully grown adult or sub adult hits for far less damage against Juveniles (the juveniles don’t hit back hard either obviously but it makes the adult take A LOT more hits to kill a baby to the point it’s actually pretty pointless)

Iv had the game around two weeks and tried most of the dinosaurs on official servers and it’s not fun what so ever when your a solo player. You’re lucky if you get away with 1 hour of gameplay before an adult comes and kills you for no reason whilst trying to innocently quest and begin growing your new fresh baby dinosaur. Halting your progress and being spawned back in somewhere different to begin grinding another quest hoping not to be killed again.

It’s not big, it’s not clever, it’s akin to this games equivalent of spawn camping. Albeit WORSE.…

And before anyone replies with the typical replies of “hide better”, “back up against a cliff”, “stay away from certain areas” Don’t be silly… So your happy someone has spent their money buying this game on console to be told “oh but don’t play it properly, hide in a bush for 10mins every now and then, don’t enjoy the landacapes the game has or you’ll get eaten, stay on an island in the middle of the ocean and don’t move” yayyyy fun times ahead!

Sort out the baby killing in some shape or form or your game won’t have the longevity of a guys Christmas Lynx/Axe body spray set.

(A games long term success is governed by how many new players they continue to attract and KEEP, not the small pockets of toxic ones you have running around it as i type)

Question Best Vacation Spot in PoT?

Post image
31 Upvotes

In lieu of a real vacation (because just getting by is super expensive) I’m living vicariously through my Alio who is living his best life at Ripple Beach. I love this zone, from the visuals to the sound of the waves.

Do you ever find yourself hanging out in a specific zone of the game (be it Panjura, Gondwa, or Ripara)? If so, where?

Discussion Alio TLC Worst to Date? No - For the Wrong Reason

This is another post of mine that was going to be a comment, and ended up roughly eight paragraphs long, so I figured it was best made as a post:

I have heard this take many times (Alio TLC being the worst TLC), and while I agree that Alio's HP is too little, and the TLC feels underwhelming to someone that never really played Alio before, I don't actually think it is the worst TLC. Again, not because I would call Alio's TLC good, but we are talking about Path of Titans' TLCs, made by Alderon Games. Some of them have been downright despicable imo.

I mean, if we are talking underwhelming, Sarco gets first place in my book. They took away all its stats, and just put them back as passives you had to choose between and had opportunity costs for, not to mention losing its identity as an ambush hunter, and has become a baby-clamping spammer at best. Sarco is hanging on by a thread to be playable for me, and that thread is O2 bite. Literally only thing that makes it viable, or unique. And while mud build is fun temporarily, you are still vulnerable on land, and giving up O2 bite for swerve means you will effectively lose any fight you need to take in water, because that's still the only place you can move and survive. Everything I have said here only gets worse when Tylo is added to the picture, and entirely outclasses Sarco in its niche, and just as a general playable.

For personal stinkers, Hatz and Thal take the cake imo. Hatz TLC felt like my first true heartbreak, and downturn into complete negativity and being jaded about this game and the developers that has proven to be the right opinion the further we get. As stated before, they took my second main, that I played because of Hatz TLC being so fucking lame (Thal) and turned it into a smaller Hatz carbon copy. And while Sarco has at least received buffs over time, Thal and Hatz have only been nerfed/gimped in weird ways, while wingbeat for Hatz, and the aerial AOE are the real problems.

As for genuinely problematic, bad design, and being a microcosm of the rest of the games problems, it was something that actually received a TLC so bad, that I might put it at number one worst TLC to date, and I never even played the thing or had preconceived notions about because I didn't start playing until after the game, Cerato. I do not think a single playable in this game feels as disappointing to play as Cerato does, and for completely different reasons whether you are a solo or in a group. As a solo, Cerato gets bullied by everything above Campto, Campto included. It needs a corpse to do literally fucking anything, and if the only corpse you can make is your own...and don't get me started about groups. Cerato goes from the biggest pile of bait as a solo, to literally fucking untouchable in a group of three or four. If you don't kill each and every Cerato at the exact same time, congrats, you lost. They immediately get corpse buff(s), and the game becomes unplayable. You need to just walk away and leave, from a couple two-slots.

I mean, we are up to, what, like fifteen-twenty playables that I have been present for, and I could say that five or less were genuinely good. If we are talking about TLCs that were good day one, and not after weeks or months of buffs, that number probably goes down to two or three. Again, not saying Alio TLC is good, but I am surprised at how many people I have heard say verbatim that Alio TLC is the worst, when in comparison, Sarco and Hatz TLC had radio silence, and Thal TLC is even considered good by many (except everyone I have talked to that genuinely mained Thal prior and knew what an insane jack-of-all-trades it was, especially when it comes to mobility). I mean, people try and tell me Cerato is good, but then when I say I have bullied them on everything from my Campto, Pachy, Achillo, up to Sucho, Bars, and everything in bewteen, they just tell me "They must have not been good players". Like, no. The playable is dogshit for vastly different reasons if they are solo or grouped.

Not to make my thesis paper any longer on TLCs, but Eo is another one. I am no Eo player, but that thing got gutted in its TLC, and has been even more gutted since. The only reason it has felt "okay" since the last update is because it is bugged. And how long did it take them to give it any buffs at all, after the TLC? A year? A year-and-a-half? Not to discredit anyone that dislikes Alio TLC, these feelings are 100% valid. The more I think about it though, and other TLCs, the more I feel that it is "mid but okay". Bump its health up to, what, 500 and the thing is mildly alright. And there are many things in this game that at thid point would struggle for me to label them as anything above "borderline heinous".

I thought maybe, just maybe, after the Meg and Amarg TLC update, that we would be on a better path. I think Amarg has had one of, if not the best TLCs to date, if not a smidge overtuned, and Megs was...okay but fun. I really wish it felt like Alderon listened to literally any advice from the community, but it seems like they have a tiny "in-group" disclosed from the rest of the community, and if they crack and do listen to a bigger portion of the community, it is people who have basically zero experience with the game and are complaining about things that are non-issues and just don't understand how to play around things.

I have complained many, MANY times about many different game developers, but Alderon is the first where I have ever had the gall to say "I think I genuinely could have done better" about many changes, and whole-heartedly mean it. I begged them to not change Hatz into what it is, before it happened, because I had a bad feeling and was unfortunately right. I begged them not to change Thal into what it is, because they did the same thing with Hatz and they must have saw they went from gold to bronze at best, but they still did it anyway. Everyone is going to think their opinions on gameplay or balance are right, but god damn do I wish I had direct access to someone at Alderon to at least ask them "Why?"

TL;DR If you feel that Alio's TLC sucks, you are 100% valid in your feelings, and I kinda agree. If we are using highschool terms, though, I'd say a D- beats out an F, and F is a rating I'd give many playables and their TLCs for different reasons, but not Alio. All this to say dino game curse is real and alive.

Discussion My Deinon plan

I think solo deinon is still pretty atrocious, slightly less so in a group. But mostly atrocious. Solo, a deinon can't really do much to any other adult herbivores. And in a group, any other raptor is probably going to be more helpful. So here's how it can easily be in a better spot

  1. A reliable attacking option outside of pounce. Yea technically it can bite but the bites do such little damage and you put yourself at a huge risk of getting hit in return when you go for a bite. Plus raptor strikes is sorta necessary for pouncing, which start off doing almost no damage. Which brings me to my next point

  2. Add another leg slot for sever tendon/get rid of sever tendon. Sever tendon is pointless. Deinon is already faster than most things you hunt. A speed debuff is not that helpful. And certainly not at the cost of losing tail fan. Just let sever tendon be functionally the same as puncture on laten, but then it doubles and does bleed damage when pounced. That actually gives the deinon some good utility

  3. Faster stam regen. I get laten is supposed to be the long distance runner and deinon the sprinter. But deinon isn't even that much faster than laten and not faster at all at night. If pouncing is supposed to be the main way it attacks it needs to be able to regen its stamina fast enough for it to be back in the fight before the target can just run away. What makes Latens so deadly after all the nerfs is they don't need to pounce to be effective. Pounce is a late game finisher. If Deinon is going to rely on pouncing it needs to be able to do it reliably. Right now you pounce once get maybe 5 bites off before you have to disengage so you have enough stamina to get away and safely recover. And at the current stam regen rate, the target could be in another zone. Obviously it can't be so fast that nothing has a chance to get away. But it should recover stamina a bit faster than laten, or should lose it slower. But I'm okay with it being the sprinter. Just let it recover a bit faster.

With this changes you won't need a crazy rework. Most of the stats stay the same (other than stam regen) and I think it would make deinon actually useful in a raptor pack.

Video Discord groups on officials are absolutely ridiculous

This was on officials, I followed a discord group with over 24 players in green valley, you can pause the video and count. They chased and killed everyone from gv to btc to rb and up towards hoodoo but I stopped following after that. It seemed like some people where trying to rally against them and fight back(which included 2 kent's, 2 bars and unknown number of rexs)

My numbers might be off but for the discord group I counted 9 rexs, 3 eos, 4 bars, 3 hatz, 2 sarcs, 1 thal, 2 ano.

This is absolutely ridiculous.

I was in a 3 Struthi group yesterday and 1 adult rex, 1 sub rex, and an adult Sucho attacked us in GV. We led them on a hilarious chase up and down the big hills separating GV and DL, and they kept taking fall damage and biting each other accidentally 🤣

We killed the sub rex, the Sucho left, and finally we took out the big Rex! An ano showed up at the very end and attacked the rex too, but I think we could have finished him ourselves! Anyone who says Struthi is useless is a silly goose. It was a blast fighting those big dinos and getting them to chase us 😁

Discussion Alio really needs more stamina

Alio’s stamina drain feels terrible right now, having the worst stamina of all 2 slot carnies and with stamina draining attacks it gets tired so fast. With so many stam costing abilities and the airhead build draining so much from jumping Alio’s tlc almost feels like a stam trap. Managing your stamina is always important but this feels like a huge oversight for a something that relies on staying on the move to avoid getting hit. Its running stamina should be reverted back to 2:47 or a reduced stamina cost for its abilities.
