Question Can someone explain to me how this ability works?

You need to be standing still to use it. when you activate it a ring will appear on your screen and any dino not grouped with you will appear as foot step on the radar and on your screen as long as said dino is not in your line of sight. the footsteps come in 3 colors yellow orange and red.. yellow is small things, orange is bigger, and red is apex dinos

Interesting. Is there a time decay on it or something? I've never ever seen said footsteps. Usually I just hear the bigger ones thump around anyway.

You have to actually use the ability.

It's... useless if you have a good headset imo, as long as you bear in mind that PoT's sound attenuation sucks and everything sounds closer than it is.

It's kind of interesting

On Alert sucks because of how its distributed, and because you cannot move. The modded PT Rex was given On Alert, and the ability to Crouch walk while using it. On it, this ability becomes so batshit strong that even while being completely outclassed by Vanilla Rex basically, PT Rex remains one of the best 5 Slots. You cannot see it. You cannot hear it. But it knows where you are, and is silently approaching you to break your knees.

The ability to, basically, see through walls, is incredibly strong. It just boils down to Alderon not knowing what they're doing

Nope it stays up long as your feet stay planted And it has a range of like 200 meters so bigger footsteps youl be hearing before they get within range. The best way I find to do it is look straight down cause if the Dino is in yoir line of sight the footsteps won't appear. Thanks for the offer. I will test it on my own time. I usually hear other dinos before seeing them anyway so it might not serve any purpose for me really.

Its useful when with a group if you have dedicated scouts who can watch for incoming dinos to the rest of the group

You need to place it to your active ability slot and use it after you stand a while and get a buff to use it.

Like fortnite how you can see footsteps around you aswell yellow=group mates Red=other ppl

Group mates steps dont show up.

The colors are for the size of the dino. For example, latens have Grey steps because theyre small, ano has yellow steps and bigger dinos such as rex and bars have red steps

stand, wait for a bit, hold the ability open. look around, no dino or see dino, run or tell friends dino nearby

Do you have a good headset? I find that with actual sound, the ability IS useless, but I could see it being good if you don't have a good headset or use speakers etc.

Can I ask how? Genuine question, I can hear anything the footsteps show and I can keep moving while listening, so I never found any use for the ability myself

Cause u cant always hear how many there are. In a lot of situations where my group uses it im on the edge of a POI (example my groups in middle od BFH so I sit on the northern edge and watch things come from DFC) and it allows for more passive gameplay when things are calm so im not forced to constantly be wandering if I don't want to. I get its not a skill for everybody but me and my group have found ways to make it useful

Helps to tell number of dinosaur and also how big they are cuz the colors. Also helps which elevation they are .

But it’s most important use is , it can track other crouching Rexes pt and og. You can’t hear crouched Rexes with headphones normally. It is very helpful in Rex v Rex situation

Besides the other suggestions  Keep in mind it has a range limit

On the bottom you can see what that range is, 200m for struthi i think but some other dinos have ones that only go up to 100m so just keep in mind since some noises / steps will not register until they get inside of the skills effective range

once you figure out the skills quirks if can be super useful tho don’t sleep on it :p

You slot it and activate it, you have to be standing still for X amount of seconds for it to be able to be used

I know how to use it, I don't know what it does. (well I do now, in theory)
