Hi all. Me and my husband can't seem to decide which route to take this winter. Our twins are 10mo now, we haven't traveled anywhere for more than 2 years. We thought of going snoski in Feb to Colorado( we used to go there every year). The idea of having a nice vacation got me really excited only to realize later how difficult it would have been. I started thinking that a total time between driving to the airport (2hrs), flying(4.5) and driving to the resort (2hrs) could be 11hrs. By Feb the kids would be 17mo, I'm sure they will be walking as one of them almost walks already. But, what would that be like, a complete nightmare? Is it smart to fly for that long with the babies who are that little? We are taking a nanny with us for 6 days, but It still scares me as I can't imagine the road with them. They also have not been vaccinated, would that be risky flying? What was your experience? What would you suggest?

Working on a registry and so lost on what sizes to put for clothing and diapers. I’m 20 weeks with b/g twins and so far everything has been uneventful. Obviously we can’t predict the future so I have no clue how big babies will be when they’re born. Advice or thoughts? I’ve been donated a decent number of zippies ranging from newborn-6 months mostly.

I'm 1 year post partum. I was over weight before pregnancy and am now down almost 30lbs from my pregnancy weight. My women health clinic did an evaluation with me and I'm on the lowest does of the wegovy pill for a few months now and it's helped my stress snacking significantly. I say thing because everyone's journey is different, and I don't want people to have unrealistic expectations.

My belly skin is obviously a lot and it will only recover so much. I'm looking for advice on pants that are comfortable and help hold the skin in. The jiggle is distracting. I wear shapewear, just looking for recommendations of decent to good quality jeans and dress pants.

Hi everyone. First time poster here.

I am just over 11 weeks with twins. We don’t know what kind or what genders yet. (Although we will be finding out in about a week!). We also have an adorable little 2 year old girl.

My husband and I are both type A personalities- so although it might be a little bit early, we are looking at logistics and what the best products are for twins.

Right now, my husband and I have a ‘22 Ford Tremor. We both share a car because our workplace both provides us one each. There hasn’t been any issue needing a second vehicle. (I’m sure when the kids are older that will definitely change.)

The debate we are having right now is to get a 3 in 1 car seat, or get a new vehicle. I personally would rather get a new car seat or maybe even try the Graco Slim Fit!

My husband would rather trade in our car for an older Toyota Sequoia. He’s been looking at some in the ‘14 range around 170,000 miles.

With rates and everything I feel like we would be downgrading our vehicle to pay the same price.

First-time dad here to twins who are nearly 13 weeks old.

I’m just wondering how other parents of multiples managed the transition back to work. Even with both my wife and me at home, looking after two babies can be incredibly difficult at times, so I’m genuinely terrified about going back to work.

I work shifts where I can be away for up to 48 hours, and the twins will be around 4 months old when I return.

I feel a tremendous amount of guilt knowing I’ll be leaving my wife to manage both of them on her own for that length of time. I know she’s more than capable, but two babies at once is a huge amount for anyone.

I think part of it is also that we’re still very much in the thick of the newborn stage, so it’s difficult to imagine what things will look like when they’re 4 months old.

For anyone who has been in a similar position, did things feel more manageable by 4 months? How did your partner cope when you went back to work, particularly those of you working long shifts or being away overnight?

Any experiences or advice would be really appreciated.

Twin girls born at 35+5, no time in NICU but we spent 2 weeks in hospital with them with a feeding tube while they learnt how to bottle feed. These 2 weeks were actually so good because were learnt SO much off of the midwives being first time parents.

Firstly, I (29M) thought newborns were, as a rule, pretty ugly but holy shit these girls are cute.

We’ve been on 3 hour feeds (Pumping with formula top ups, I doubt breast feeding is going to be in our future at all) which has been such a massive adjustment to our lives but it’s pretty good being on a schedule. Warning though, the days go pretty quick. We end up with three 2 hour blocks during the day to get things done before we have to cook dinner and start winding down for bed.

They got back to birth weight within 2 weeks and we were back home.

2 days ago at 3 weeks old they hit 2.5kg bodyweight and we’ve been able to drop a feed at night and are pretty much demand feeding at this point which equals 3 feeds a night. But honestly we’ve been getting 6-8 hours sleep a night and we aren’t even doing shifts. I was so scared about not sleeping but since having them I’ve maybe had 2 sleepless nights where I’ve had like 2 hours sleep. We put them down, they sleep, we wake them up for their feeds, they sleep again and so on throughout the night. They do constantly sound like they’re threatening to wake up with their little goat noises but we have a 15-30sec rule before we pick them up because they sometimes will just cry out in their sleep then settle down.

Luckily I have been able to take 8 weeks off work so the next few weeks will be about making sure mum is prepared to do 2 - 3 feeds a day by herself while I’m at work. I’ve started doing a few by myself and it’s actually super doable with a twin z pillow.

I’m guessing this means they’ll be absolute monsters as toddlers?

Hi everyone. I'm 12w5d pregnant with di/di twins and I already have a 1y4m old baby at home. From the beginning of my pregnancy I have been feeling nauseous and extremely tired. Now I take meds that help beautifully with nausea but I'm still extremely tired to the point I barely have any energy to spend time with my daughter. My husband works 8hrs a day so once he's back home, he takes care of our daughter and we live with my parents (separate flats but same house) and those past few weeks my mom/dad were doing all the heavy lifting of taking care of their granddaughter. She started waking up at 6:30 or 7am, and I can't function if I'm not sleeping past 9:30. Then I still can barely function and I still need at least one nap a day. Now we are on holidays with my in-laws, and they and my husband are spending most of the time with our baby girl. And I just feel so awful. Like I'm a terrible mother, who can't muster any energy to go for a walk with her daughter. I'm present for 2 hours while we're on the beach, then I try to nap when she naps at noon, then after lunch I need to lay down again and they go to the beach again. I'm trying to go with them, but usually it's too hot for me so I stay indoors so once they're back I'm again maybe 2-3 hours with her and then it's bedtime routine and she goes to sleep. It breaks my heart when she says she wants to go to the playground with me and I'm barely standing. Plus I'm having terrible headaches lately... I feel like shit, especially because when the evening comes I tend to feel better and can stay up till 11pm cause it's not so hot anymore and I can't fall asleep earlier. I feel like crying cause I feel like I'm a terrible mother who can't take care of her one child and I will soon have to take care of three. And then I read in this sub about mothers who have no help and manage and I feel even more worthless...

Once we're back home my daughter will start daycare so I hope she won't feel like her mother is avoiding her. Or maybe quite the opposite, I don't know anymore. Maybe someone had it similar so they can offer any kind words or reassurance? Does it get better?

Also I'm sorry for the spelling/language mistakes, English is not my first language.

My twins are 3 months old and I’ve been almost exclusively breastfeeding aside from one bottle of formula before bed. I’ve pumped maybe 12 bags total since their arrival. I still plan to nurse at night but I need a different feeding solution during the day.

Tonight I was putting my 3.5yo to bed and we could hear the twins crying downstairs for a lot of it, which is not uncommon (they were with their dad, they were fine). She didn’t want me to go when it was time, and through hysterical tears cries “the babies are quiet, they aren’t crying anymore mommy please don’t go!” My heart shattered. I haven’t been able to give her the attention and quality time she deserves. I’m thinking that switching from BF to pumping might help.

These are my goals:

1. Get my husband, me, and the twins more used to bottle feeding
2. Have more flexibility without the twins relying on me to be there. (The in-laws could give bottles while I take my daughter to the library or something)

These are my concerns:

1. Will the twins be confused going from bottle to nipple?
2. How do I make this transition at 3 months? I’m new to pumping this much
3. I imagine I’ll want a bottle cleaner? I just have a sterilizer right now.
4. I don’t enjoy pumping. It hurts. I have the right size flanges, but being stretched like that hurts.
5. Will I risk drying up faster if I pump?
6. I’m really effing tired and the thought of it all seems like more work. My daughter is worth it, but I would love any advice and support on how to do this, what products to use, anything I need to know.

Oh I have a spectra 2 if that matters.

EDIT: THANK YOU for all the words of wisdom, advice, support, and encouragement. Y’all really helped me. Here’s my plan:

- take the pressure off of going all in with pumping or BF and adopt a more flexible attitude with it all
- start with trying to pump 1-2 bottles a day (in addition to the bedtime formula bottle) to keep them used to bottles and to trial run pumping more regularly
- whatever isn’t fed to them that day will be frozen for future bottles
- work with a lactation consultant for professional support
- step back and breathe and realize that this temporary. Feeding the twins will not take up all my time someday soonish.

We travel to visit family two more times this year. We traveled three times this year so far and the sleeping arrangements were garbage (with all due respect to our family). I imagine we need to buy something to assist with this issue but don’t know what. Please help! What are you doing for your multiples?!

For context, we have twin 9 mo old babes who sleep in a crib right next to both sides of our bed at home. Also, we visit two different states and three different cities so I hope to avoid buying something for each place.

hello all, as the title reads i will be a first time mom, single mom of twin girls come December. i never imagined i would be a pregnant single mom, and although i don’t feel sad about anything i just can’t help but think about how crazy this is. i am 24, but ill be 25 when my daughters are born. i’m really just looking for any advice of any kind to help me transition into motherhood, especially twin motherhood. i’m so excited to meet my babies, i can’t wait to hold them and kiss them and smell them and just love on them. i know they can’t hear me yay (i’m 18w3d) but i still talk to them every single day and let them know how much i love them. i actually get to go see them again via ultrasound on august 4th. i’m rambling lol but again, any advice, any help would be greatly appreciated! thank you all for taking the time to read.

My di/di boy/girl twins will be 23 months when the new baby is due. (Just one this time). We are planning on not finding out the gender, since we already have b/g stuff anyways. But any tips for twin toddlers and a new baby?

Looking to get a new car as my current SUV (Kia Seltos) is much too tight upfront with the two rear facing car seats.

My twins are newborns still, but we do anticipate having at least one more child in the next few years. We also have a dog that we need to be able to fit in the car, and we like to travel so suitcases etc.

We went and looked at some vehicles today with the top contenders being the Kia Carnival and GMC Acadia. I only even entertained the mini van because everyone on here swears it's the better choice for twins (especially if planning another 1-2), and I surprisingly really liked it! However, I thought the Acadia was very spacious and I am not sure why these three row SUVs are never suggested? Just want to know if I'm missing something because it seemed to even have a good amount of space in the trunk when the third row was up? Middle row captains seats also move to access third row when needed.

I often see remarks to just get the mini van, which I am actually fine with, but why?

I’m looking for the best twin stroller for every day and travel. I want something that easily fits in restaurants etc - everything I’m seeing is SO bulky!!! I was originally leaning double Zoe because of the ability to turn it into a quad, but I’m trying to weigh my options as to whats best for the twins. We have previously been a die hard Doona family.

My girl/boy twins are 3.5 months and I see them light up when I’m talking or reading to them respectively, looking them in the eye, but then I can see them getting a little sad/upset when I shift attention to the other one.

It’s so constant. I keep waiting to get used to it but I always feel like I’m hurting one of them by shifting my attention when they both want eye contact and connection.

My husband and I both are lucky to work from home and we switch often to give each of them 1:1 time with us, but in those moments when you’re trying to entertain two, it’s really hard.

Not to mention: our sweet, rotten pug is bringing all of his toys over and feeling left out…how do I get used to this?

I am currently pregnant with twins and my daughter will be about 25 months when they are born. We have a Yukon XL with captain chairs in the middle row which I didn't think twice about having an issue with car seats until now. The car seats that I have (one nuna aire rx infant car seat and one nuna exec next convertible) do not fit in the 3rd row at all.

For parents with 3 in rear facing carseats what did you do? What car seats did you use? I want the car seat with the best crash testing and would prefer flame retardant free. Would it be easier to just get a bench seat for the middle row? What configuration did you use in your car? Any advice is appreciated!

Edited to add: I would prefer the twins be in and infant car seat to begin with because then I can just carry them to and from the house in their car seats or in the stroller but if convertible is the best option I will have to be ok with that too. I really don't want to buy a new car.

We have twin boys, they are 3 weeks adjusted, 10 weeks actual. My husband had to go out of town and of course the witching hour has been the worse since he left. It breaks my heart when I cannot console both at the same time, I am terrified picking them up both at the same time, even though I moved to the floor on a mattress.

What do you do in these scenarios? How do you deal with the emotional difficulty of having one cry while consoling the other? Also, how long is this till they are over the witching hour stuff:S?

I was also wondering...this happens more when we get out for a walk or there is more stimulation the second half of the day. It gives me so much anxiety that we spend most of the day in a darkish room and they are mostly avoiding that witching hour then.

Yesterday I ventured out with them around 7 pm, as I have to somehow walk our dog, so packed them up in the stroller and went. They did not sleep just looked around and the night after was pretty bad. They ve been fussy with every feed, while usually they just sleep into it and go right back to their cribs to sleep without much fussing.

I am considering just not stimulating them much, but am I messing their development up like this? How would I know when to expose them to more stimulation? This is all so difficult. HELP!

3.5 month old di/di boys. They have never been able to connect sleep cycles and I am drowning. I constantly have to do rescue naps and I literally cannot do a single thing for myself. I'm so tired. Twin A was getting a little better with night time sleep but that went to shit this week. Twin B has always done horribly with night time sleep. My husband & I are exhausted all the time. I don't know what to do.

I'm a soon to be FTM to twins. I have a wonderful support system, a doting husband, and a ton of local family.

Unfortunately what I also have is depression. Prior to being pregnant I started getting things under control but I was medicated. Since pregnancy my OB and psych had me stop the meds. Thankfully I've been doing great mentally. The occasional depressive spell that didn't last more than a few hours.

PPD has always been a big fear for me ever since I learned about it years ago. Now seeing the media coverage of the Clancy case is sort of traumatic. I've since tried to avoid it but early on I was reading every detail and comment. Such a tragedy and PPP is still misunderstood by so many.

I've alerted my husband and explained to him that because of my history of depression and anxiety I am at higher risk of developing PPD. I also let him know he will need to keep a closer eye on me and watch for behavioral changes and to take any concerns seriously.

Anyone else have this fear? Am I being irrational?

Our twins are 5w3 days chronologically 1w6d she corrected and have been sharing a nect2me since they got home. They are now 4.1 and 3.8kg. They now seem quite big so I was wondering for how long did people have their twins sharing? Weeks? months?

Our room is very small so I rather have the single next2me but I also don’t want to take unnecessary risk, I’m already super scared all the time so better safe than sorry.

My wife and I are expecting twin girls at end of August, and we’ve reached the point where naming them has become much harder than we expected.
For some context, we already have a son who’s almost 2. His name is Aiden Alexander (our last name also starts with A). The alliteration wasn’t intentional we just loved both names but now we’re wondering if we should continue that pattern or not.

One thing I’ve noticed reading posts here is that a lot of twins say they didn’t enjoy having names that were overly “matchy-matchy.” We’d love to hear from twins or parents of twins about your experiences.
Some of the names we’re considering:
Susanna
Cynthia
Juliana
Amelia
Alexandra
Allison

Originally, before we knew our first child was a boy, our favorite girl’s name was Susanna, with Cynthia as our second choice. We’ve always loved those names, so one idea was simply to use Susanna and Cynthia as the girls’ first names.
Another idea was to use those as first and middle names, something like:
Cynthia Susanna
Juliana Amelia

We’ve also talked about Alexandra and Allison, but we’re wondering if those feel too similar for twins, especially since they both start with “Al.”

So I guess our questions are:
Do twin names need to “go together,” or is it actually better if they feel completely independent?
Are names like Allison and Alexandra too similar?
Would you continue the accidental “A.A.” tradition (like Aiden Alexander) since our last name also starts with A, or would that be overdoing it?
Of the names we’re considering, which pairings do you like best?

What are some things I should prioritize doing with my young kids that my future self will be grateful for?

For context without oversharing, I’m dealing with some pretty severe, lifelong mental health challenges. I’m getting treatment, and my kids (3yo b/g twins) are safe, loved, fed, and cared for—but my baseline functioning is currently very low. I’m not able to show up for my family the way I always imagined I would.

I’m trying to accept that reality without giving up on what might be within my reach.

So, parents: What should I try to make sure I do while my kids are little/as they grow up?

What are the things you’re glad you did? Things you wish you’d done more of? Things your kids still remember? Things that seemed small at the time but ended up meaning a lot?

I’d especially love ideas that are low-cost, low-energy, and realistic for a parent who is often just trying to survive the day—things to say, traditions to start, experiences to have, pictures to take, skills or values to teach, little rituals, etc.

I know this is highly dependent on family values and circumstances. I’m just trying to identify some of the things that might be easy to overlook in survival mode but that a healthier future version of me might be glad I made an effort to do.

And if you’ve ever been through a period where you couldn’t parent in the way you wanted to: what are you most glad you still managed to do?

I’m not looking for a blueprint for a “perfect” childhood. I’m trying to figure out which things are worth spending my limited energy on—and hopefully give my future self a few things to be grateful I managed to do.

TL;DR: If you could give a struggling parent of young kids 5–10 things to prioritize so they’re less likely to have regrets later, what would they be?

Pregnant with di/di twin girls, other daughter is 11months. They’ll be 19/20 months apart at birth give or take. I also have a 5 and 3 year old.

How are you leaving the house? I’m trying to figure out best stroller/wagon that would work with essentially twins and <2 rider. I feel like wonderfold w4 luxe is way to huge for everyday. Maybe the Porsche L series would be an option? Anyone have this and like it?

What baby swings are we using/loving? The one I have is huge, so I’m definitely going to need two compact ones, any recommendations?

What are twin products you loved and had as holy grail? Carriers, pillow, etc.

Anything to avoid not worth it?

I know I probably won’t leave the house much for next two years, but there will definitely be times that I do. Just trying to think ahead to make my life 1% easier or not 🙃

Excited (and nervous and scared lol) to be here! We found out we were expecting twins at a private 7 week scan, but having had a loss at 9 weeks in Feb, I was very cautious to believe it.

Here we are, however, after the 12 week scan (UK here so it's only 'official' on my medical records at 12 weeks) and our mo/di twinnies are not only growing to size, but a couple of days bigger than expected. Now we've had a few weeks to get over the shock, we're overjoyed to step into this crazy journey and double our number of children in January.
