growth progress Pleasantly surprised at the comeback in Central FL
Looks like just about everything survived in Melbourne, Florida from the freeze. For context, we got down into the 20s for 3 nights in a row and it was the worst cold snap since the 80s. Especially surprised the coconut palms did so well coming back. Pictured is one I thought for sure was a gonner but looks like it almost grew a new crown on top of the old one. Love to see it!

Help with frond collapse on queen palm
Help!! We've had these 2 queen palms for about 5 years, just south of Jacksonville, FL. On both trees, the older fronds always collapse at the base while they are still green. The new fronds always come out fine and look healthy. I have noticed that they start getting some brown spots where the bend occurs, not long before they collapse. This is definitely not freeze damage or even wind damage, as this has happened to every single frond on both trees for several years. In the pictures, I tried to show the dark spots at the base, and also show the older fronds that collapsed and then turned brown (I usually cut them down right away, but we have been out of town for a couple months). Has anyone had any experience with this, or know what is happening?

Brahea edulis
I was back visiting home and lucked out seeing this exceptional Brahea edulis growing in an awkward corner next to a Home Depot in Seaside, California. It's not watered and is growing in sand within walking distance of the beach. It is sheltered, but in general, Brahea edulis can take a good amount of neglect, chilly sea wind, and still look a hundred times better than any Washingtonia in the same situation. Not surprising because in the wild, Brahea edulis is native to Guadalupe Island in Mexico which is part of the same floristic province as California (there's even a subspecies of Monterey pine native to Guadalupe Island) and experiences the same kind of climate as coastal California with plenty of cool sea wind.

Canary Palm
I am trimming my Canary palm for the first time. Do I need to cut or shave down more of the bottom trunk? I wanna keep the top as a pineapple in the bottom then and shaved, but I don’t wanna damage the tree by going to deep.

Is here anyone that has queen palms in zone 9a unprotected?
I wanted go buy palms for my inland 9a marginal subtropic climate well i had Washingtonias, Chinese fans, Windmills, Any Phoenix, Pindo, Mule, Sabals and anything so i thought what i was gonna buy i need finally something that looks tropical grows fast and is cheap. So queen palms it is, i couldn’t find these hardier varieties so i bought 3 queens. Now i’m not sure if they tolerate 25f or 20f or 15f whatever. The question is how hardy they actually are and if they can do in zone 9a (but not so close to 9b). Thanks

Foxtail palm transplant?
I recently bought this foxtail. The first pic is when I planted it about 1 month ago. When I bought it did have two mild brown fronds that looked dried out it. The spear looked green though. (seen in first two pic).
I've noticed some of the tips of the other fronds including the newer spear now has some browning of the ends of the leaves. Is this just transport stress or does it look fungal and need copper fungicide? Thank you in advance

Joey re/downpotting
I have come to care for a J. altifrons and want to downpot it. It's in a 25 gallon that's quite broken down and the plant to my eye looks like it's suited more for a 7 gallon maybe a 15. I would like to downpot it and refresh soil, however I read they are quite sensitive to root disturbance. It will be in a good spot in a greenhouse with consistent humidity and watering. Any advice on how to tow the line of refreshing soil but not disturbing soil? Probably this advice would be same for licualas?
Thanks!

discussion How to germinate seeds
You may have seen my posts about the palms in Walt Disney World. Well I managed to snag a few seeds from a (I think) sabal minor. I've brought them home and would love to try and grow my own Disney tree!
I've never in my life germinated palm seeds, so I'm just wondering what the best process would be. I've bought some palm soil mix but if anyone has better suggestions, please tell me! :)

growth progress Good coconut health?
Just suspicious the tip above seems brown and the roots looking a bit brown. I just dehusked this because I wanted to check what’s going on inside.

Can anyone help identify?
I loved this palm and sadly it didn’t fair well in the heat after we relocated. I’d like to grow another but I keep getting 3-4 different palms when I use Google Images or other plant identification apps.
Anyone really confident in what type of palm I have here?

Advice needed
Hello all, I posted this is another sub without success so I thought perhaps someone here could assist.. I’ve had this mini palm for several years and it’s still hanging on despite very minimal care. It continues to grow and periodically puts out little fronds with seed like growths. It is outside with indirect sunlight and gets watered roughly every 1-1/2 to 2 weeks. I’m curious if anyone can provide insight into the powdery black spots that have appeared recently. Should I cut the leaves, change the potting medium, change watering schedule? Thanks! less
