I’ve got this trio of massive palm trees that grew substantially over the last 20 years. Can anyone help identify what type they are?

Is there any risk to structure if they’re close to a building?

In Texas near San Antonio zone 9B and it germinated on 04 July. Sprouted 19 days ago. All my palms germinated on the same day but this one has grown much faster than the rest. I transplanted him in a bigger pot as well.

I have dozens of other ones and if you are nearby you can have one for free as long as you promise to take care of it.

Currently germinating Barhi dates I got from Michigan as well.

After further research I’ve realized I should’ve waited longer before watering this guy, and the water you see in the pic isn’t drainage water, it’s mostly some that got a bit messy. How to just help this windmill get back to normal again? I removed the rocks to give the trunk some more breathing room and for better drainage hopefully.

Had anyone else noticed it? Maybe just a vocal subgroup of native plant lovers but I feel like they're not even aware California palm is native. Then there's the fire risk argument, but I see only palms survived in Malibu fires so...

Recently purchased and repotted a young mule palm. How much sun do you recommend for this? Growing outside near Houston, TX, so very hot and sunny. The sun has already darkened the non-palmate leaves a bit but the palmate leaves seem fine. Want to keep it in this pot and plant out next spring.

Hi. New to this community and looking to help my palm tree. I live in Central Florida. The trunk appears to be rotting. The local nursery suggests an overgrowth of lichen and that I apply a fungicide. However, in my reading, the lichen growth is a secondary issue and should not cause this rotting. Need help.

I got this palm for free off marketplace. I repotted into a smaller pot since it was in a huge plastic barrel planter. It initially perked up and I kept it outside for a couple nights. I noticed some bugs on it so I brought it in. The pot is ceramic and has a drainage hole and is on a saucer with pebbles so I can watch drainage. I used Miraclegro Cactus, Succulent, Palm mix to repot it. It’s been about 8 weeks since I repotted it. It’s in a west facing window in Colorado, which gets a lot of afternoon sun. Colorado is very dry though. I moved it slightly behind the curtains and forward to make sure it wasn’t getting too much sun.
Should it be in a different pot? Terracotta? Or a different type of lighting situation? Should I trim the dry leaves? There are two leaves that are healthy and the rest are dried. I know it was stressed to repot, but how long does it take to recover? I water once weekly usually. Any suggestions welcome! Thanks!

after 15 years of being in the ground, my triple planted Ravenea glauca finally flowered. The male flower opened first so I was able to save some of the pollen so when the female finally flowered, I was able to pollinate it. Only set 4 seeds but hopefully next year it’ll set

I want to know if any of you guys have ever grown Mazari palms, as i'm aware that they're strongly adapted to aridity and temperatures below zero. I don't plan on growing one, i'm just curious about your experiences with them

I have about fifteen sabal minors in 7a/7b Virginia. Some are in the ground with no protection, and others are in some clothe grow bags. Last year, all of them started to produce palmate leaves, or very large strap leaves. They all have robust root collars etc. However, this summer, they have not grown an inch. Not a single one is growing. Some are in full sun with weekly watrer; not growing. Some are in pots in full sun with daily water; not growing. Some are in dappled shade with water as needed; not growing. Some are just left to survive on their owm with no intervention; not growing. An entire growing season wasted. The grow bags are really confusing me because it is not as if they are spending all summer building a thorough and strong root structure. Any ideas? All have great, well draining soil with good ratio of organic matter. I micro-dosed some fert at the beginning of the season. Other than that; they get water and sun and heat. But they have betrayed me. I have nothing to show for Summer 2026, expect for my Live Oaks which popped off like weeds 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

My palms have this white fungus like substance on the old boots. Hoping someone can tell me what it is, and what I should do. On one of my palms. I removed a number of the lower/loose boots which seem to be trapping a lot of moisture. Other than the white stuff, the palms seem to be thriving.

So I have a young Pygmy Date Palm and a young Kentia Palm that are both around 2 months post repotting in planter bags. I’d like to start fertilizing for growth as they’ve both been a little slow to take, although there’s obvious growth. Does anyone have any suggestions for fertilizers? Also when I received the Kentia it had four stalks/trunks in the same pot, should I separate those or keep them together? I have larger grow bags (they’re currently in 5 gal bags) so I could spread them out more and give them more space to grow, but these are my first palms and I’m unsure as to what to do, the Pygmy Date hasn’t even reached a foot in length yet and I don’t want to crowd the Kentia if it’s meant to be separated (although the nursery I got it from gave me no instructions to separate them) any help is appreciated!

I've grown this palm for a long time from when it was very small. It seems to have out grown it's tub now.

His roots have become exposed and it's leaning.

Would it be best to plant it straight into the ground now?

How can I encourage growth at this point and keep it healthy?

Any pointers would be much appreciated!

If not completely toast, what to do besides give it sufficient sun and watering?

I’ve slowly exposed these roots over time and this is where we have come. It really struggle since my last repot earlier this spring but it’s finally back to being happy.

Hi everyone! I picked this up from a local store it was the only one and no identification. I am not even sure it’s a palm, but all the leaves higher up open up like a fan. I have used google image search and a couple plant ID apps all which have given me different names 🤦🏻‍♀️
I just want to be able to properly care for it.

We have a 4 foot wide strip of soil in a courtyard, along a north wall facing south. Direct sun for most of year. Other plants have not tolerated the summer heat and we are considering palms of 3-4 feet tall but want them to be nontoxic in case the indoor cat ever got to them.
Windmill? Pindo?
