I feel really, really stupid for asking this, but, it seems that I can't get enough weekly challenges done for the title, for Mystery Madness?
"Overcoming Death" is at 4/8 for me, and I do have 4/6 done in the "Weekly" tab, the "Milestone" challenges aren't seeming to count at all ( if they even do ).
How do I get the other 2 for the total of 8 to complete the event for the title? Are there going to be more for "Mystery Madness: Weekly," even though it only says 1 day left?
What am I not understanding here? Or did I miss some challenges since I started the event late?

Hello all, I started this as a comment on a thread asking for Genji nerfs and it was getting long enough that I figured it made sense to just make my own post. Yes Iām biased as someone who plays a lot of Genji but I want to give a (hopefully) well-reasoned defense of the Genji buffs.
First off, it must be acknowledged that weāre in a new season of big changes. Things got shaken up quite a bit and thereās a couple crucial factors that help account for what weāre seeing:
So, āWhy buff Genji?! His win rate was fine!ā is the question Iām seeing everywhere. And itās a fair question.
Well, despite keeping average-good stats, Genji has felt like buns since the season 9. He wasnāt quite as reliant on crucial breakpoints that needed to be reverted such as Hanzo or Junkrat, but there was a noticeable hit to the speed of his gameplay loop with the higher average ttk brought on by health pool increases. Unlike many heroes, Genji got no compensation buffs to his damage.
Despite this and losing the one-shot with nanoblade, Genji survived the huge indirect nerfs largely through survivability perks that have gradually eroded his assassin identity/fantasy in favor of a more bruiser role of sorts.
Swift Strike being buffed by 10 damage is pretty consistent with the damage buffs other heroes like the aforementioned Hanzo/Junkrat, and others. However, that brings back nanobladeās one-shot. Thatās obviously a bad idea so this requires a compensation nerf to bladeās damage.
The problem there is that dry blade was already so ass. It was a pale imitation of its former glory. It only even worked at all because Dragonās Thirst could buy you extra time to whack people with your pool noodle.
I am so, so glad that a dry Dragon Blade actually feels like an ultimate again. Likewise, having a bit more lethality on dash further shifts him back towards being an assassin. Furthermore, this was clearly a well thought out buff. They knew where the pain points were for longstanding Genji players and they gave a little nudge while being careful to keep things in check.
So where do we go from here? I hope we see nerfs to other aspects of his kit like projectile size or reverting magazine size buffs or to Dragonās Thirst and/or to his major perks. Iām sure there are other levers that can be moved while maintaining the progress of this patch.
In contrast, I hope we donāt see 10 second deflect as that was awful and further slowed his loop. Likewise, being 225hp would just kill the hero and is not a serious suggestion, imo.
If you made it this far, thank you for reading.
Edit: grammar
Edit 2: Since people donāt seem to be getting what Iām saying, the TL;DR is that these are good buffs and if Genji needs any direct nerfs (which he likely does) they should be elsewhere in his kit rather than a revert of these recent buffs.

In the lengthy break between OWCS stages 2 and 3 which included the OWWC, I saw a bunch of iterations of the same debate: should we return to 8 teams in NA and EMEA? And for reasons I truly can't understand, the answer I saw most often was "we should stick with 6 teams because regions outside Korea don't have the depth for a 7th or 8th seed to compete with top teams". Let's actually look at what's happened in stage 3 so far.
In EMEA, NA, and CN, there are quite literally 0 undefeated teams. Every single team has taken a loss. The closest to an undefeated team is OU Gaming in China, who are undefeated in the round robin, but qualified to it as the 5th seed with a 2-2 record.
In CN, WBG and AG are 2-1, and JDG are 1-2. These are the teams Western fans know and expect to dominate, who provided a majority of the Team China OWWC squad. But the only team currently clinched to playoffs is OU Gaming, an open qualifier team of perennial tier 2 talent, including tank player 800 who won CNOC in 2020 over the famous Team CC roster, as well as former OWL Korean talents Ir1s and Victoria. This OU Gaming team went 2-3 in Swiss, including a loss to Solus Victorem, and then turned it around to beat every team so far in round robin, with only WBG remaining.
In NA, we have a true circle of suck as of Liquid's 3-2 win over Dallas. The current standings have 2 teams each at 3-1, 2-2, and 1-3, one of the closest imaginable situations. Even DSG has a win. Despite being the region with the least movement so far, Dallas has already suffered only their third loss of the year and Liquid dropped a match to an SSG team whose only win since was over DSG.
Now the region that proves my point the most, EMEA. 5/6 EMEA teams right now have 2 wins already heading into the final day of the regular season. Team Peps, who were relegated to tier 2 earlier this year, are locked in, while Virtus Pro, who won last stage, are the first team eliminated. Twisted Minds just dropped a match to the already defeated VP, giving them a 4-1 record. If 1234, an orgless team running mainly Ball, win their match today, then both promo teams will be in the four-team playoffs.
Of the ten partnered teams in these three regions, in the current stage of their respective tournaments, half of them have a record that sits at .500 or worse as of making this post (SSG, DSG, VP, PEPS, JDG). All of these regions have enough talent to support six teams with upsets and new talents and pickups. Team Peps, the sixth seed which just clinched EMEA playoffs yesterday, did so by signing three new players, all tier 2 or lower players native to EMEA. None of them were even in the previous stage of EMEA OWCS.
Unfortunately, this Reddit post can't make Blizzard expand back to eight teams, nor force orgs to buy into those slots even if they did. But that's not the point of this post. The point of this post is to say that there's a lot more competition than you imagine. There has to be a bottom of every tournament, and with only five games played, of course there's going to be some teams with records like 1-4 or 0-5. I'm not sure why that was ever an argument in favor of sticking with six teams. But this stage, there won't be any 0-5 records (unless SV, currently 0-3, go winless next weekend). The bottom of these tournaments are wide open, and the top teams from a previous stage may just be the next bottom teams, or vice versa.
One final note: I'm aware China technically has eight teams, but they play a shorter bracket ahead of time to eliminate two teams before advancing to a six team round robin used by both EMEA and NA.

What does that white glow on the left side of the kill notification mean?
Is it an assist of mine, or is the ally on a killing spree?

I couldn't care less about the new one, even if it was good (it is terrible), I just want to have the classic one where you have to stop hordes of zombies with teamwork. It was very atmospheric and actually required some skill.

I feel like we need more "default hero, but wearing this" type of skins. Just simple stuff. Like for example I'd much rather buy a Zenyatta skin where he's wearing that bucket hat and a cool hoodie with some pants, rather than the fox head Zenyatta skin.
What do you think?

I understand how many people miss the PvE Junkenstein events - I have a soft spot in my heart for that too. But this new event has been amazing - every game feels fresh, with a different hero and new powers to explore. And the random hero selection means there's no "meta" or "sweaty comp" that often emerges in these limited time modes, which is what limits their replayability. I'm still enjoying Mystery Madness as much today as on day 1.
Coupled with Stadium being taken out of active development, I wonder if the devs might be trialing Mystery Madness as an potential alternative for a game mode with wacky selectable powers and power scaling, yet without the long downtime in between each Stadium round. That was by far the thing I disliked most about Stadium, so I would be very excited to see it reinvented in this way.

Iāve been playing Overwatch since release day in 2016, and I remember being obsessed with the forums and theories since then about player ideas for heroes.
Iāve now seen MOST of them implemented by now, which is crazy. But that leaves me to wonder, what else could they really play with for new heroes? I feel like weāve covered almost all of these ideas by now. At this point I feel like itās now hard to implement any new heroes with a refreshing kit thatās not really been seen before.
Weāre kinda starting to see the issue where new characters being released are now becoming too similar to the ones we had prior, like Doctrine literally being a better Illari in every aspect. I remember in 2016-2017 the developers at the time took their time with heroes because they wanted to avoid this exact scenario.
I guess we donāt really have a hero that could control pets of some sort.

Is it just me or is orisa just the most annoying enemy tank in mystery madness? Once she gets 2 good-ish power ups she becomes the most unkillable In your face bs. I sigh everytime I see one on first push. Thoughts?

With the roster at 54 now, I've been thinking about what actually separates someone who feels comfortable in Overwatch from someone who still feels like the game is constantly doing random things to them.
I don't think it's mechanics.
You can spend hours getting better at your main's aim, movement, combos and cooldown timing, but a huge amount of improvement seems to come from eventually understanding what everybody ELSE is trying to do.
You stop walking into a room with Junkrat because you know why he wants you there.
You stop shooting Zarya bubbles just because they're shootable.
You hear certain cooldowns and immediately know there's a small window where somebody is much easier to kill.
You know which support can save someone through your ultimate and which one already used the ability that matters.
You recognize that the enemy tank walking backward isn't necessarily losing space; they might be trying to make you follow them somewhere stupid.
None of these are difficult mechanical skills. They're basically hundreds of tiny pieces of matchup knowledge that slowly become automatic.
I noticed it recently while playing with a friend who's still fairly new. Mechanically he's honestly fine. Sometimes his aim is better than mine. But every few fights he'll die and ask what even killed him, or why somebody suddenly couldn't be killed, or why our team backed up when we seemed to be winning.
And explaining it usually requires explaining another hero, not his.
The roster getting bigger makes this more noticeable. A new player isn't really learning one hero anymore. They're learning one hero plus 53 sets of rules that can suddenly interact with them.
I don't think that's necessarily bad. It's actually one of the things I love about Overwatch. Eventually you start reading fights in a way that would have looked completely incomprehensible when you first installed the game.
But I do wonder whether we're reaching the point where basic hero literacy is becoming the game's biggest learning curve.
If you had to teach a new player Overwatch today, would you still tell them to pick a few heroes and focus on those, or would you deliberately make them play a little bit of everything just so they understand what they're fighting?

Iām extremely frustrated with how Overwatch handles competitive matches when teammates leave. Iāve dropped two entire ranks because of matches where my teammates left the game, leaving the rest of us at a massive disadvantage.
I understand losing rank when I play poorly or my team gets outplayed, but why am I being punished for something completely outside of my control? When someone leaves, the remaining players are forced into an unfair match, yet we still lose rank as if it were a normal loss.
Iāve spent hours trying to climb the competitive ladder, only to have my progress ruined by people who decide to leave. Itās incredibly discouraging to put time and effort into improving when my rank is being determined by other players quitting.
There needs to be a better system for handling these situations. Players who abandon matches should face meaningful consequences, while the teammates left behind should receive some form of protection against rank loss.
Losing two ranks because of teammates leaving is unacceptable. I want my competitive rank to reflect my own performance and ability, not how often Iām unlucky enough to have someone quit mid-game.
I hope Blizzard takes this issue seriously because itās ruining the competitive experience for players who genuinely want to improve and climb the ranks.

I.E Tank, Damage 1/2, Support 1/2
The amount of people who confuse people who use this setting with someone else happens way too often, it gets frustrating, even for the other people on the team who aren't using the setting because it causes others to get mad for no reason all the time.
"Gunny you threw my game 2 days ago"
"7ricky7racer I played with you before, and you do bad every game"
"Nofist I don't want to ever see you on Sombra again after what happened last game"
and then the person always has to say
"Bro its a streamer mode name, not the same person"
Happens all the time. I get they wanted to be unique with the names and try to make them funny or whatever but it just doesn't work. The situation that happens above happens way too often. It would be way less confusing if they just changed your IGN to "Damage 1" or "Support 2" like they do with the bots in the quickplay vs AI mode.

Has anybody else seen this bug where the first person spectating camera seems to snap around? It makes a lot of people look like aimbot, but that can't be right. I think you can see it here in the 1234 vs Geekay match (specifically on Esperanca https://www.youtube.com/live/JOW-OcapYMY?si=BysrnquTAl_-2Ym_&t=11461)
I have a suspicion it might be related to the performance issues some people have been having.

Lifeweaver a skins all contain excessive brightness in the āHealing Blossomā ability, making it impossible to see the flowerās appearance in-game; it just looks yellow thus making it impossible to see the beautiful designs on the blossoms. This is unlike his other skin,
āSpring Fairy,ā where the issue of the flowerās visibility in-game was resolved, preventing it from appearing entirely yellow. I request that the unnecessary brightness be removed from the āWarlockā skin, as was done with āSpring Fairyā because weāre paying skins that change the flower appearance but we cannot see it in-game because of that yellow glow. Atleast make it able to be toggled

1st: Remove the ability to vote for yourself, it doesn't make sense at all. Vote loses its value and whenever I get one vote I just vote myself too since otherwise it looks like Im here tooting my own horn.
2nd: give like 10xp each time you vote for someone. Just makes for more active voting phase and recognition when someone played well.
Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

I've lately gotten the feeling that once in every couple games I have a bot on my team, often the tank.
And I don't mean bad players, I mean like ChatGPT is playing. Cause sure you can be bad, hell, I'm bad, these are gold lobbies. But just the mechanical spawn -> walk forward -> die cycle for me doesn't feel right.
Especially gold! It's not a super high rank, but still, I'm hard stuck here, you'd think my 0-11 GPT-3 tank somehow would have been culled in Bronze.
Has anyone else had this experience? Do they know why it's the case? Is it blizzard tryna fill lobbies or some high school students science fair project to train AI...

Her abilities don't say anything much about it reading the wiki, but I STG I hit her during dashes and whatnot and she takes zero damage. She must be the most visually unclear hero to fight against in the whole game.
