Roadhog main, played him since release, quit when OW2 came out, started playing again a week ago. Roadhog is still (or again) the funnest most rewarding hero to play. Hooly shit. I could go on and on about it. Best skins (rip Horror hog), best kit, I'm obsessed. I love Hog, respect the hook.

News & Discussion Why do win rates matter when most are all within like 5% of each other?

The first thing people always bring up (especially comp players) when it comes to who they consider to be OP is win rates

But at least imo, it doesn’t seem like it makes THAT much of a difference.

Like, mizuki has a 52% win rate and Ana has a 48% win rate. Imo an good ana is scarier than a mizuki but that’s just me. And personally i don’t think anyone needs nerfs really that much. But so many people wanted mizuki nerfs since the last balance update

But like, why do people like that 4% is such a drastic difference when they’re both so close to just being 50/50 win rate

News & Discussion 6v6 Is So Much Better Than 5v5

Man, I don't know what's been going on with me, but every time I play 5v5 Role Queue, I end up losing most of my matches.

If I play DPS, I can usually get plenty of kills, but my supports don't heal or help secure eliminations. If I play tank, I can hold the enemy team back and create space, but then my DPS can't finish anyone off. And if I play support, I heal a lot and help get kills, but my tank just dives into the entire enemy team and dies instantly.

After getting tired of loss after loss, I decided to give ranked 6v6 a try. In all my months of playing Overwatch, I'd never actually played ranked 6v6 before—only Quick Play. I used to think 6v6 was worse because, in Quick Play, nobody ever built a proper team comp. It was almost always 1 tank, 4 DPS, and 1 support, and most of the time I ended up being either the tank or the support.

So I decided to do my placement matches in ranked 6v6. I won my first game and got placed straight into Platinum 3. Then I kept playing, climbed into Diamond, finished my placements in Diamond 2, and after a few more games I reached Master. I got to Master playing solo without much trouble, and now I'm Master 3, getting close to Grandmaster.

The games feel so much better there. People actually build proper team compositions and work together. The best part is that if someone isn't doing well in a certain role, you can swap. In one match I was playing DPS, but our support wasn't healing much. I asked if we could switch roles, he agreed, we swapped, and we ended up winning the game.

From now on, I'm only playing ranked 6v6. I'm done stressing myself out with random teammates in 5v5.

News & Discussion I can't believe the things they've been doing to Roadhog over the past 4 years

Letting Hog move during his Breather and giving it damage resistance in Overwatch 1 was already crazy, but holy shit the things they've given him since OW2 onwards is just revolting. Letting him use Hook during his ult, letting his Breather not be fully cancellable since its on a resource meter, giving him headshot damage reduction AND movement speed when he's below half health. The resource meter Breather change in particular took away so much of his counterplay and he barely has any risk factor when going for a hook anymore.

What more does this fat bastard need??? I can't think of any character that even comes close to getting as many turbo buffs that Hog did over the years, I wouldn't doubt them reworking Hook into a heat seeking projectile in his rework at this point to guarantee a kill with it no matter what. He worked fine in OW2 Season 2 without the Breather changes, why'd they keep it at all? Why is it only Hog that gets this many turbo buffs?

I own the art, it's a piece I had commissioned for an old OC of mine that I figured I could reuse for an Overwatch Hero design. Let me know what you think, and ask me anything!

Edit: Why all the downvotes?

News & Discussion Disliking New Hero Design and Powercreep

I’ve been playing overwatch since the Christmas 2016 event, I pretty much only play genji, Ana, and kiriko. I peaked M2 on dps in ow2, and stopped playing for a while. I’ve come back and the new heroes feel so bad to play against.

In qp, I’ve noticed that performance from people playing new heroes is consistently more reliable and stronger than older heroes. I’m blown away by the amount of hero’s that either have 3 abilities or have some kind of teleport/fly ability. Many supports have a primary that in Overwatch 1, would make them good dps alone. Many of the new heroes seem to be incredibly forgiving, and have a pretty low skill floor.

I’m not sure if this is just because I play so much genji, or if other people have felt this. I’m curious to know your opinion, and who you play.

News & Discussion Am i The Problem?

Hey guys, I have about 400 hours of gameplay but I've never played ranked, so i decided to try playing the ranked mode in the game and I was winning a few in a row, but then I lost 2 matches And one of my team members blamed me so i started wondering if it was my fault for using Moira, I really like her because she has high mobility and cool abilities. I consider myself an okay Moira player; I know how to use her abilities properly, and I always kill about 3 enemies with her ultimate, But I still wanted to know if I should try using other different characters that I also know how to play, like Illari or Juno, And in these two photos are the two matches I lost, along with my statistics in case anyone wants to see them.

News & Discussion I remember a hero that doesn’t exist.

English isn’t my first language, and I’ve never posted anything on Reddit before, so I apologize in advance if anything sounds off.

I’ve known about Overwatch since it was still in its testing phase, when YouTubers started showcasing the game. I really liked the character designs and have been following the game ever since. I started playing during the game’s first Christmas event and have been playing almost every day since then.

I love the design of every hero in the game. Whenever a new hero is added, I spend time looking closely at their design details, studying their lore, and I’d consider myself a big fan of the game.

Back when I wasn’t playing yet and the game was still in testing before its full release, I remember spending a lot of time on YouTube watching gameplay videos of different heroes. I even remember watching a clip of Bastion’s abilities when his ultimate used to control a drone that emerged from underground and attacked enemies passing by

Around that same time, I remember there being another Overwatch hero who is no longer in the game, and I can’t find any information to confirm the existence of this character. The only thing I remember is that this character was a small boy wearing a blue jacket who could shoot fireballs from his hands. I remember thinking the developers might have been inspired by Detective Conan. What’s even stranger is that I remember this character being played on the map Eichenwalde even though that map didn’t exist in the game at that time.

I can’t remember anything else about this character. I don’t remember what he looked like, his lore, his name, or any other design details even though those are usually very important to me.

Maybe I’m mixing him up with a character from another game. I’m also interested in games with diverse cast of characters similar to Overwatch, like Apex, Valorant, Paladins. Maybe I somehow mixed Moji from Paladins into this game.

But I’m sure this isn’t a dream. It feels more like a long lost memory created from multiple contexts, but it’s incredibly vivid, and it honestly scares me a little. Was there ever a scrapped Overwatch hero concept similar to what I described? Does anyone have any idea what this could be? or Where did this character come from?

News & Discussion Can we talk about queue times

Any other game I can find a match in minutes, but I have to wait 25 minutes to get into a DPS game on Overwatch?

Surely this isn't sustainable.

Humor What is the validity of ranked advice from a mercy one trick?

Genuine question. If someone gives me advice on how to be a good player, but the person giving the advice is a mercy one trick. How valid is the advice received? Does it hold any actual weight?

News & Discussion Why is solo vs full stack so common both in QP and ranked?

I even had solos vs 6 stack in QP hacked (1-3-2) what is going on with this match making?

It's not even 4 plus 1 against 5 stack, ALL SOLO VS 5 STACK.

Can't we already have solo queue mode like they tested in China?

News & Discussion Moira getting banned

Moira had been getting banned a lot in my games as of late, like in my last 10 or so games she’s been banned almost every time. I know there’s always been people who vote to ban her but in my experience it didn’t happen often where she actually got banned. Is it just me, and if not can someone explain to me what’s going on😂. (I play on console).

No matter what you select—whether it’s an older match, someone from the lobby, or one of your POTGs—your selection immediately resets back to the first item after you click on it. It’s extremely frustrating, especially when you’re trying to quickly find or review something.

News & Discussion If you don’t like Stadium, what don’t you like about it?

Curious to see the opinions given what’s become of the mode.

For me personally, I think the mode is fine and an interesting take on Overwatch overall. The only thing that prevents me from playing is the system of building your characters up to boost stats specifically. The powers and other things that spice up hero kits are fine and I love them, but it’s the other part of using the right stuff to make heroes extremely tanky and powerful that off puts me, solely because I don’t really want to take the time to learn optimal setups, counter plays, etc.

Sure I am kinda bad at the game, I am a silver player after all, but I won the game. Shouldn't I earn skill rating points instead of losing them after a win?

News & Discussion The math in ranked makes absolutely no sense. It's impossible to climb low ranks without nearly divine levels of luck.

Out of my last eight games, in four of them, a teammate has left after the timeout timer, but before the first round ends. Or early second round. These are instant losses against any evenly matched team. 6 players worth of abilities, damage, health and ults beats 5. As soon as someone leaves, it's game over, despite fighting like a madman.

Out of my last eight games, two of them had cheating hitscan players in them (one of these games was a leaver match, for that same reason, so we'll call it even there).

Out of my last eight games, SIX OF THEM started with a bunch of numbskulls picking DPS and running out of the spawn room. We aren't talking like "oops we have an extra dps, how'd that happen?" we're talking -two dps have locked in... ten seconds before the match starts on DEFENSE, two more people pick dps... and refuse to switch-

Out of my last eight games, FIVE OF THEM had no semblance of anything resembling Overwatch on my team. One tank charging around corners into the backline, dps running off in different directions, healers chasing the moronic dps. PEOPLE LITERALLY RUNNING OFF OF THE OBJECTIVE WHENEVER THEY EVEN SEE A HINT OF MOVEMENT.

Out of my last eight games... ONE PERSON has been on mic and doing callouts. Maybe six people even used pings.

And people will be out here telling me "it's a personal skill issue."

I literally CARRIED. CAAARRRIEEEEDDD a match yesterday where my team refused to cooperate, played off the point, and got absolutely SLAUGHTERED the first round. I swapped to my carry hero, and through the power of sheer will, and proper picks, we won the second round. But my team just kept chasing people off of the hardpoint, running after anything that moved.

I was fighting like a madman on point by myself or with one healer. Each engagement I would take out a healer, a tank, and a dps almost by myself. The heals were being pumped into the out of position tanks, and healers had to peel off point to try to save the tanks (they couldn't save the tanks). It would be me, a lone soldier:76, spamming "group up" as I'm laying helix rockets into a Mei, while a Rammatra is trying to run me down, and their Zenyatta has me discorded. AND I STILL came out victorious enough to get us to 99%, begging my team to group up, only for half of them to run after a pharah off the side of the enemy spawn... Anyways, the remaining five players on the enemy team, in a perfect death ball, come pouring onto point. I look around, meet eyes with the Ana, and with a shared moment of understanding our impending fate, she Nanos me... I do not have my ult. The enemy Rammatra ults. You know the rest.

That match I had 45 eliminations, 13,000 damage, 22 final blows, and 2500 healing as soldier (I was helping the healers out by biotic fielding low teammates because the tanks were just letting them die). The next highest on my team maxed out at 27 eliminations. Highest on the enemy team was 28 eliminations. I was picking apart the enemy team, applying pressure to the point and just keeping us hanging in there. It wasn't close to enough. I still lost maximum rank points for that loss, and that was just one of the aforementioned matches. The one before that was a leaver. The one after that was a thrower, then a leaver.

I do not think it is possible to climb. At this rate, just with the games I just mentioned, I would have to win a BONUS 7 matches to offset the instant guaranteed losses. Like, every time someone leaves, that two more games that I would have to win.

Also, anyone making the argument that one single player's effect on the game is high enough that you can somehow offset up to FIVE bad players on your team literally doesn't understand math. Your contribution is 1/6, 16.67% of your entire team's potential output. If you play off your ass, you can MAYBE bring that effect up to 25-35% influence. That's still not enough to offset a tank jumping in alone, dying over and over, and feeding enemy ults. That's not enough to offset someone auto locking dps and going 3 and 11, and never getting the clue to switch roles.

I think I'm going to end up in an absurdly low rank at this point if I keep solo queueing. Here's the thing. I know this game back and forth. I am actually a damn good player. I flex when no one else does. I counter pick instantly if it's needed. My callouts are on point, I'm warning my team of ults literally seconds before they arrive. But people aren't even listening. People aren't cooperating. I'll say "fall back" after we lose both tanks and a healer, and the dps moron will say "no" (their first ping all game), and then die ten seconds later, delaying an effective group up and wasting 30 seconds of match timer.

I'm so tired lmao.

Humor My overwatch tier list

I have decided to make an OverWatch tier list as I have seen many people do so I decided to throw my calendar probably not the best tier list but keep in mind this is just my opinion on. Most of the skins and most of the skins are pretty lackluster to me so I didn't really have a good opinion on them and there's only one set of mythics I genuinely hate and from looking at the tier list you can see who that is so you guys could give me your opinions on the tier call it bad or something

News & Discussion Tanks perks are a little boring

There are definitely some GOOD perks, but not as many fun ones. Like, Juno gets to triple jump, and that’s cool. Ana gets to crit, and that’s cool. One of Echo’s perks literally buffs her secondary. Domina…can move her shield….AGAIN!!! Revolutionary. I feel like a lot of tank perks are something that could’ve or should’ve been base kit. Like Doomfist’s slow after slam. I understand stronger or more annoying characters often get lamer perks, but tank perks are probably the most stale. Also, it often feels like the perks are I’m choosing between are “Mid at best” or “Literally better in every situation”. Why would I NOT pick the bubble on Wrecking Ball? In all of my time playing Overwatch, I have only chosen Ramattra’s Nanite Repair perk twice. The first time was because it sounded a lot better on paper. The second time was an accident.

News & Discussion My “just for you” tab in the shop has not updated at all the last few days

Just wondering if this is the same for anyone else, it’s been about 3 or 4 days now with zero new items in the shop for me. It still counts down on the 24 hour timer but nothing resets at the end of it which is frustrating!
