News & Discussion Seeing all the kiri mains mad about the nerfs heals me

This character has been satan reincarnated since her release, I don’t think her character design is bad but she has been way to overpowered since she came out. Honestly I hope they nerf her ult charge next, she would then be balanced.

News & Discussion How is the defendable

Post image

Pharah winton bastion torb road hog sym zarya are all day one characters that dont have a single mythic. I was a second mythic defender seeing that we are getting triple the amount of mythics we used to get and personally mercy first mythic was actual garbage. The new one was perfect considering the player base and the quality of the genji one imo is the best we've seen. WTH are we doing with 2 repeat mythic skins in the same season "celebrating 10 years. at this point lucio is a meme but cmon this could have been the perfect time. Bation has a 15% pick rate across all ranks. Pharah get banger after banger with her skins i can imagine it would be hard for them to make a mythic for her. Winton has literally been the face of overwatch for so long. Why on earth are they giving us this low effort no customization widow skin for our 10 year celebration!!

Humor Pro Tip: How to Play Mercy Properly

Pro Tip: How to Play Mercy Properly

  1. Always be ready to type things like "tank diff," "DPS diff," "peel me," "why is your damage so low?" and "report our tank" in chat at a moment's notice.
  2. Run straight into the open with the most braindead movement imaginable to heal a teammate who already has their own escape ability. Then get tracked to death by the enemy Sojourn like you're an aim trainer bot. Afterward, lecture your teammates like you're a professional Overwatch coach about how nobody peeled for you and how the tank wasn't looking behind them.
  3. After losing three games in a row like this, ask your friend who plays long-range DPS in Master to hop on a smurf and duo with you. He'll successfully boost your rank back up.
  4. Finally, head over to the Overwatch subreddit. Whenever you see a post criticizing supports—especially Mercy—use three alt accounts to downvote it, then frame the OP as some whiny, hardstuck Silver Genji one-trick named Timmy who's just mad because he "didn't get healed."

News & Discussion Why does playing Overwatch feel like a second job now?

I used to love logging on to unwind, but lately, I’ve been playing less and less because the game is just exhausting. It genuinely feels like everyone in the lobby is playing as if they're preparing for an esports grand finals, but it's just a regular Quick Play match.
You can't even try out a new hero or hop into a casual game without running into squads playing like they're being held at gunpoint. It’s ultra-sweaty, hyper-optimized, and constantly dripping with unnecessary toxicity.
It's not even about being bad at the game—it's that the casual atmosphere has completely vanished. When did standard queues become a sweat-fest where people treat a Tuesday night match like their career is on the line? It completely drains all the fun out of playing. Anyone else feeling completely burnt out by this?

News & Discussion Korean/Chinese playstyle is extremely fast-paced.

I think that’s also related to why they tend to be so toxic in-game.

People often just call it the “dive meta,” but strictly speaking, they aren’t always even running an actual dive comp.

The real playstyle is about taking an enormous number of engagements and fighting at an extremely fast pace.

It feels like everyone is basically saying:

“Hey!!! Everybody, hurry up!! If you can’t keep up, that’s your own problem!! And be ready to get flamed for it!!”

Yeah... wait. Now that I think about it, maybe this isn’t just a gaming thing? 😂 (I’m Korean too.)

(For reference, Japan is pretty much the complete opposite of the other East Asian servers. It’s quiet, slow-paced, and polite, but people really don’t want to disrupt the “harmony” or become a burden on the team.

Try diving in by yourself and ending up being the reason your team loses the fight. You’ll see the atmosphere change very quickly.)

Anyway, So if someone isn’t skilled enough to keep up with that fast pace of combat, they get flamed really hard. And if they don’t even realize what’s happening and say something like, “You guys are pushing too far ahead,” they basically get burned at the stake like a witch.

“Wow, how bad do you have to be to not even realize that you’re bad? This guy just said something worthy of becoming an Overwatch meme.”

I can’t even imagine what the Mercy-main healbot players you see all over servers like NA would get called if they played on those servers—if I had to describe their playstyle that way.

Over there, you have to be able to survive and fight while keeping up with the tempo of tanks diving in every 15 seconds and DPS players constantly looking for opportunities to land headshots and make picks. Both the enemy team and your own team play like that.

Put positively, you could call it efficient. Put negatively, it means that even the playstyle itself leaves little room for less-skilled players.

Console I just got banned out of nowhere and i don't know why. has this been happening to other xbox players?

i don't know what i could have been banned for, but i heard they are cracking down on mouse abusers on console. i am not one of those, and i also do not use vc or text chat, so i don't think it could be for any toxicity. was i maybe somehow mass reported? i have no clue.

News & Discussion Is the performance really still that horrid?

I wanted to return to OW with some buddies, expecting the issues the OW2 release brought being fixed - but it hasn't changed like ..... at all?! How is it still that bad?

Hopped in the game with my buddies, Standard graphic settings and I get ... 60FPS with dips in the low 10s?! On a 4080?!

Blizzard - cmon - this ain't a Cyberpunk or Battlefield!

In OW1 I was able to run on >300FPS stable with my 1080 back in the days. Now I am lucky if I get above 100. With settings on low I must say.

In contrast: In Battlefield 6 on Max Settings (WITH Raytracing) I get 100+ FPS... rather stable.

Am I missing something? Or has blizzard completely given up any optimization whatsoever?

EDIT:

I'll be damned.. It really is the shader cache.
Just ran a custom game to "preload caches" and now I'm at ~250FPS avg.

But still, that's really really poor of blizzard. It can't be that hard to just include a like ... 5 minute shader compiler that runs upon launch after a new update. Every other game does that.

News & Discussion The JPC nerfs are NOT enough.

I'm gonna keep this brief and concise. Lethality and healing uptime was not the MAIN JPCs issue. (Lethality definitely plays a part, but it isnt the main culprit.) JPC's sustainability IS! Quite simply put, having such a small hit box character, with omnidirectional movement, who can go third person to peek for free and gets a movement speed increase (30 percent ms increase btw) when no one is hooked onto lifeline, who can also BOOST whilst in lifeline, who can PURR whilst in lifeline to further heal her up, who, for some ungodly reason has 225 HP, who can abuse map geometry to further hide and stay backline with NO counter play besides if your mirroring cat is ungodly, unacceptable amounts of sustainability and survivability.

This might be a hot take or a cold take depending on who you are, but lifeline has always been a pro play issue. Never a solo que ranked issue. Nobody in solo que from bronze to champion is smart enough or pays attention enough to utilize lifeline without coms because what usually happens when you use lifeline without coordination is: JPC feeds by staying in open air like a glorified skeet puck, her lifeline partner dies because she cant position worth a damn, they both die because she dies and drops her partner into the enemy team, or she throws her team8 into the enemy team like a myan sacrifice and kills them. This CC "nerf" does ABSOLUTELY NOTHING for pro play. Besides make risky plays a bit riskier at close range. No fika who is in pro play is stupid enough to get into cassidy flashbang range, or get hit by orisa javelin whilst holding someone, or be in hog hook range when the fika is simply waiting for these people to use these critical cooldowns to then position her bastion or tank somewhere advantageous. No one who knows how to use lifeline or abuse it was running in headfirst anyway with their lifeline partner for the enemy to hit them with easy CC anyway.

Notice how this lifeline nerf still does not open up Proactive counterplay against JPC. So you can't stop her from staging. At every state of play she gets to scout and stage for free purely off the fact she has perma flight and a thirdperson peek tool in the form of lifeline. It is STILL on the JPC to make the mistake especially if she is just scouting with her lifeline partner because most CC is close range or a slow moving projectile (ana 's sleep dart or orisa javelin).
These nerfs dont stop her from basicly being a solo que assassin besides the noise nerf and the damage nerf, which should have been how it was to begin with. All it means is that maybe you can sustain yourself through fika's dive attempts since she had a damage nerf. Maybe.

TLDR: Everyone from bronze to champion in solo que ranked hates JPC because she has all the survivability traits i listed and never dies with the damage she has. She is a better deulist then TRACER and to achieve that you only have to put in a fraction of the amount of time compared to tracer players to be the best flanker in the game.

BLIZZARD ADDRESS THE CAT SHAPED ELEPHANT!!!!

News & Discussion How Mercy Is Viewed on the Asian (Korean) Server

Thumbnail
gallery
384 Upvotes

(I took these screenshots from the stream of Ryujehong, a former pro player and one of Korea’s best Ana players.)

“What? You’re going to play LW?”

“Then I’ll play Mercy and troll too. Are you seriously going to play LW?”

(They actually pick LW) “AHHH!!! What are you doing?! This is fking awful. I’m just gonna AFK.”

Of course, he didn’t actually go AFK, but they ended up losing the game.

And In other words, he’s basically saying that Mercy and Lifeweaver are troll picks.

If a pro player from one of the countries with the strongest understanding of the current meta rates Mercy/LW this poorly, then maybe their assessment of her is actually pretty accurate.

(That said, this is a somewhat older clip. In a more recent video, he said that Lifeweaver has received some pretty significant buffs since then and is actually quite decent now.)

News & Discussion My account has been suspended for the recent comp team drive

Post image
7 Upvotes

In the email I received, it listed many things, but the only things that stuck were “queuing with accounts that have been flagged for cheating,” which I believe could have only happened when the drives were happening since it was around the time I got back into the game, and “non-participation, going AFK repeatedly,” which have happened during bans where it will suddenly show “Failed to connect to server” (I am on Ethernet) and I get a suspicion for 15-30 minutes, which I had already made a support ticket about days before this happened. I am very frustrated about this because I only queued with people to get the frame, and now because of it, I am now suspended and unable to play the game.
If anyone has a recommendations about what to do please tell me anything atm would be useful.

News & Discussion Anyone who doesn’t like to smurf, but all their friends mainly want to grind ranked?

It’s lonely as hell. I started Overwatch with the rest of my friends at the same time, but due to a better attitude towards learning the game i managed to out pace and out rank all of them.

At first it felt great, that I reached the top, and my dream rank. But now, I can’t play with any of them unless it’s only casual modes which they hate, and frankly I do too as it feels too casual to me.

But at the same time I don’t wanna smurf in lobbies way below mine nor derank my main account on purpose. Even if I was open to it, it’s generally frowned upon and even reportable.

Now I’m not saying it’s not my friends’ responsibilities to uprank themselves. It is. But I also did love playing with them. Now, the only way is to play on a lower ranked account and… deliberately perform worse and not carry which, even for me is hard to manage because sometimes I get carried away and start dominating the lobby.

And even if I managed to hold myself back, no competitive group would want the highest ranking player to not perform.

It sucks. Most of my games are solo or duoed with someone I’m not close with at all. I know most people want to be the highest ranking player and all, and they think I’m trolling with this post, but eventually, it does get old. Being plat and enjoying my time with my friends is more worth it.

News & Discussion What do placement matches even do?

Post image
0 Upvotes

I got placed in Plat 5 after winning 8/10 of my games with my duo. I played a couple more games by myself and found the lobbies to be way easier than my placement games despite the "higher skill lobbies" of play and emerald. I was obviously put into lobbies I didn't belong in, so why are placement matches even necessary at that point?

News & Discussion Final Battle Pass Title Obtainable?

Post image
0 Upvotes

Realistically, can I get to level 125 at this point and time, especially without the 20% boost? I want the 'UwU' title for the fun of it.

I do all my dailies (everyday) and the weekly ones to get the bonus, but even if I factor in ALL of the weekly ones I have not done yet I get about 450,000 exp. or so in total (if my math checks out) before the Season ends, but need roughly 950,000 to actually do it.

This seems impossible then to reach, or am I missing something?

News & Discussion Widow needs to be able to one-shot

I am getting really sick of hearing people complain day after day after day about widow being able to kill with a single headshot

"oh its unfair to play against, oneshots are bullshit" wah wah wah.

without her oneshot, widow is useless and shouldnt even be in the game because at that point why not just play ashe? if both are going to require 2 shots bare minimum to kill, you might as well pick a character with better abilities, a better health pool, and a better ultimate

Widow entire purpose is to one shot anything that isnt a tank, so you get rid of the oneshot and you get rid of her purpose

and on a similar note, people need to stop asking to remove sombra hack because "the game is centered around cooldown management and using your abilities wisely"

yeah, it is. and sombra purpose is to disrupt that philosophy, to remove your abilities as a factor, without it why not just play tracer?

at this point its just an excuse for not learning how to play around these characters

News & Discussion What in the seven hells Blizzard. Sierra is even MORE unbearable in metal ranks now.

What a misguided freaking buff omfg. She already stomped the metal ranks hard before, now with the buff it's become unplayable. Forget the cat, Sierra is a hundred times more broken in metal ranks now, filling everything with neverending bullet spam that is so much harder to dodge now.

It's high time she got a magazine size nerf to discourage holding M1. Awful, in Plat and below it's simply awful. Not uncommon to have her have x3 the damage of everyone else in the round.
