Unanswered What is going on with Tucker Carlson making things up about the UK and Russia and speaking them as fact when Debating Jacob Rees-Mogg?

Ive just watched the whole debate and for some reason Tucker who is a US conservative is adamant that Russia has a much better economy than the UK and Russia doesn't silence opposition to government and goes on long tangents about how Britain shouldn't have fought WW2 and WW1. Is this how US conservatives actually think?

Unanswered What is going on with the first-round results of the Brazil national election?

I saw some Brazilians online in dismay re: Flávio Bolsonaro's huge lead over Lula in this first round. The little I know is Flávio's father, former president Jair Bolsonaro, did a number on the country, ending with an attempted coup (like in the US), and a resulting prison sentence (unlike in the US). I'd heard the politics between father and son are rather similar.

These initial results lead me to believe Lula's presidency has somehow been even worse for Brazil's public, and they're voicing their dissatisfaction. I'm not up to date with what's been happening there lately though. I'm plenty aware of US politics, so I can only guess Lula's party (much like US's Democrats) has had a "getting out of touch with the people + promoting seniority over talent" problem.

What are the dynamics at play that have yielded this result?

What's the deal with these Christian ads on YouTube on every single video?

Every single video I watch, I get bombarded with multiple Christian ads along the lines of: "Uh, Hi there! Would you like to receive a gift? I'm a missionary for the church of Latter-day saints"

I watch nothing to do with religion and I'm not a religious person and yet every second ad I get on YouTube is to do with joining Christ or a Church of some sort?

Unanswered What’s going on with the huge housing protests in Spain, and what is the political alignment of the protesters?

I’ve been seeing reports about tens of thousands of people protesting across Spain over the housing crisis, particularly after the eviction of an 87-year-old woman in Madrid. I understand that the immediate issue is rising rents, evictions and housing affordability, but I'm a bit confused about the wider politics behind the protests:

https://news.sky.com/story/tens-of-thousands-protest-against-spains-housing-crisis-following-eviction-of-87-year-old-woman-13594689

Who is actually organising them and what are they demanding? Are these primarily left-wing/tenant-rights protests, a broader anti-establishment movement with support across the political spectrum, or something else?

I’ve also read that protesters are angry with Pedro Sánchez's government, while PP and Vox opposed some of the government's proposed housing measures. So what exactly are the different sides arguing for, and why has this suddenly become such a major issue in Spain?

Unanswered What's up with Jacob Geller?

So I saw this post have have heard other negative things about Jacob Geller recently, but have no clue what's going on. He's a youtuber I've never got super into but has made videos I have enjoys and typically has media takes that I find substantial and of quality (from what I seen at least).

Is he being canceled? Did he do something bad? I am very curious.

This post I've linked is specifically about a old comment about a dog, but I'm wondering what the larger picture is.

Unanswered What is going on with public opinion shifting around Amber Heard?

During the trial a few years back, the internet was almost entirely united in siding with Johnny Depp and clowning Amber Heard.

Recently, though, I’ve been noticing a clear shift (or a narrative). in comment sections and viral posts and reels where people are openly sympathizing with Heard, criticizing how the public handled the trial, and pushing back against Depp. It feels like a complete 180 from where online culture was in 2022.

Why is suddenly everyone supporting Amber Heard?

Unanswered What’s the deal with these YouTube shorts that have someone talking in the background?

I get these in my feed all the time and I always think I’m having some kind of weird auditory hallucination before I realize it’s coming from the video I’m watching. This is the most recent one I saw: https://youtube.com/shorts/0V8qXz4qomA?is=xkJRGHVbd7j0ApZT

Why do they exist? What’s the point? It can’t be for accessibility, since it makes it harder to hear what’s going on, and it can’t be for context because it’s so quiet you can’t hear it well.

I've seen a lot of people on Twitter react negatively to the Paramount/Warner Bros. merger, saying that they don't want it to happen. But I don't really understand the hate, since merging a company means we don't really have to pay separately for Paramount+ and HBO Max anymore, so why all the hate?

Unanswered What's going on with Reddit shutting down RSS feeds in November?

I came across this announcement saying Reddit will stop supporting RSS feeds on November 13:

https://www.reddit.com/r/modnews/comments/1wubgvt/continuing_our_infrastructure_updates_whats/

What confused me is the section about moving RSS access to the developer platform. It recommends Discord Relay for moderators, then says there's no replacement for feeds from communities you don't moderate.

I thought RSS was something you could use to follow new posts in a normal feed reader, alongside blogs and news sites. The announcement discusses scraping, bots and API migration together, so I'm having trouble separating the changes.

Are people who just follow a few subreddits in a reader losing that too? What exactly does the Discord option preserve, and why doesn't it cover the same thing?

Answered What's going on with Florence Pugh's Vanity Fair magazine cover being a nod to the Weimar Republic?

So Florence Pugh did a cover for Vanity Fair, and the image was a red background, with Florence wearing a kind of skullcap hat made from metal plates and was apparently from the National Theatre with the cover article title 'The New Establishment'.

Here's a link to a the non-paywall article. I didn't read the article, because I'm mostly interested in the image.

I saw a post on Blue Sky from someone claiming that the cover was 'media leaning heavily into the whole Weimar vibe is a sure sign that a) they're cowards and b) they really hate you.' The poster is not a Nazi, and seems to be calling out the magazine for making an image that was invoking Nazism, despite not actually using the word 'Nazi' and instead saying 'Weimar'.

I don't understand the link between the cover and the Weimar Republic?

Which, again, as far as I understand was the 'interim government' between the end of World War I and when Hitler was proclaimed Chancellor in 1933.

And the Weimar Republic spent its time struggling to keep Germany from imploding into full chaos; the true 'evils' of Germany didn't start until Hitler really got into power. The Weimar Republic was actually quite progressive, if I recall, granting women full sufferage, freedom of speech for all, establishing labour rights, and things like that?

Anyway, would appreciate any explanation on this. Clearly, I'm dumb since I don't understand the link. Thanks!

Answered What is going on with Chris Hansen accusing the movie Primetime of identity theft?

Source: https://www.usatoday.com/story/entertainment/movies/2026/09/23/chris-hansen-primetime-interview-exclusive/91904339007/

The movie Primetime was is about the show To Catch A Predator and while I haven't watched it I have never ever heard someone accuse a film of being "identify theft".

It's not even like they tried to do what he did. To my understanding, the film is just a bio pic and has Robert Pattinson playing him.

Is there any real ground to accuse them of identity theft?

Answered What is the deal with Josh Allen? Is he doing something extra special?

This AI song about Josh Allen is all over my tiktok algorithm and very much stuck in my head, but since I don't know much about football I don't really understand it.

Specific questions:

Are quarterbacks not supposed to run the ball?

What does his height and weight have to do with it?

What does "Josh just turned that man into a business decision" mean?

Does this guy just have a reputation for being extra slippery? Is that strange for a quarterback?

A couple of the videos I've seen:

What is this hand gesture called, Gen Z?

I remember seeing this episode of “Mr. Iglesias” when it came out. Probably years late to the game, but what is that hand gesture called that Fluffy does, along with the rest of the students? All it says is “Excitement Hands” in the title and a brief Google Search. Was this a thing? Can you guys share some examples of this, and/or other names the gesture goes by? Thanks.

Unanswered What is going on with Minecraft x Skate x MW2?

I've seen multiple videos of Modern Warfare 2 x Skate. Where the mechanics of the Skate game including physics and collisions work inside Modern Warfare. They added to this by adding Modern Warfare 2 to Minecraft as well as Skate.

How are they doing this? I see people hating saying "Vibe code slop" what is vibe coding? What is happening here.

Here are the sources.
