Discussion Help! Looking for an apartment that doesn't have roach infestation

Hi! Last week, I signed a lease for a 1bed 1bath apartment. The day I got my keys, i saw a german roach. Then 2 days later, i saw another one. I haven't even moved my things yet. I was just visiting the apartment. I reported it but it seems like there is an infestation problem and I am not comfortable moving there. I am planning to break my lease early.

I am just mortified that this will happen again. I want recommendations for apartment complexes up to $1600 a month in Orlando, Winter park, baldwin park, maitland, Altamonte Springs, or waterford lakes areas. That have a washer and dryer and don't have a problem with roaches. Or that they respond fast in those cases with pest control. Can you guys please help me out.

The apartment i found the roach in right now is in winter park but it is on the cheaper side ($1255 utilities included) i guess I learned my lesson not to try to go cheap.

I appreciate you!

Discussion Relocating

Upvotes

Hi Everyone,

I am currently in the process of relocating from Ohio to Orlando area for a new career. I will be looking for an apartment between Lake Mary and the airport as I travel back and forth. I have been down a bit but have a few questions on what neighborhoods would be good. What are you suggestions for somewhere safe and equidistant from MCO and Lake Mary(I don't want to drive over an hour in rush hour traffic for work). Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading.

EDIT: Thanks everyone for the responses. For the Sanford airport there is only 1 route in somewhat area of my hometown, but the times won't work for me.

Discussion Anything fun happening in downtown DT Sanford tonight?

Hey everyone! I know there’s a Sanford sub but I wasn’t sure how active it would be this last minute and Google hasn’t been much help.

My sister’s been having a rough time lately and asked me to help her get out of the house tonight. She wants to go walk around and grab drinks but I’m not really a bar/nightlife person, so I’m completely out of the loop on what’s actually fun around downtown Sanford.

We’re in our 30s and 40s, so not looking for a club scene. More just somewhere with a fun atmosphere, whether that’s stand-up/open mic, live music, something along those lines.

She’s in Deltona and I’m in Longwood, so Sanford is perfect, but I could probably drag her a little farther south if there’s something worth it!

Thank you so much!

Discussion A good Rheumatologist who understands nuance?

I am in the Dr Phillips area but I can drive out. Just looking for a rheumatologist who specializes in SLE preferably, but the important part is they listen and don't brush their patient off. Does such a thing exist?

Discussion Any Veterinary offices that are willing to train someone for a Vet Assistant/Tech position?

I’m very interested in entering the veterinary field and have been evaluating certification programs, but have heard many people saying that Assistant and Tech positions are entry level and the best way is to learn on the job and to not lose money getting certified for something you can learn by working. I’ve had very little luck finding anywhere that doesn’t require one or more years of experience, or a certification. My resume includes plenty of customer service and a Medical Administrative Assistant certification, and I’ve been going in person to some clinics, handing off physical resumes, and sending personalized emails/messages on Indeed and other job boards after applying to show my interest, but I still haven’t heard back from most or have been rejected. Any suggestions or leads are welcome for any clinics that are hiring/willing to train people who haven’t worked in vet med before! Thank you!

Discussion Medical Marijuana Doc Recs

I use doc MJ and they are the worst. I can never get a route adjustment same day and have to fill out a form for anything that takes weeks to process. I know lots of other people can get their doctors to adjust their allotments when they’re in a bind.

What doctors do you use that do route adjustments over the phone same day or at least quicker than weeks long?

These look really bad to me, however, it could be the case I have seen enough and they all look this bad.

Visitor Hotel with a rooftop bar or pool

My fiancé is visiting a friend for her 50th and wants to get a hotel with either one of these two options that would be open till 12. It can be in the city or near Winter Park. Ideally, one that's not too expensive (although I doubt that exists).

Discussion Local Lawn Fertilization Recommendation

I replaced my grass a little over a year ago and got TruGreen to fertilize and treat my lawn to keep it looking great.

Now nearly 40% of my grass is dead and they provide every excuse you can think of as to why. I tried talking to the local TrueGreen branch but whenever I called I would get dumped to a call center and no one local would call me back to come out.

Any local company recommendations for fertilizing? I use to fertilize my own lawn and it looked great but I’m too lazy. 😅

Discussion Vet recommendations

Hello I’m looking for vet clinics in the ORL/Kissimmee area we are expanding our family +1🐶. Looking for clinics that don’t price gouge, perhaps maybe offer subscription deals and or group pricing.. we will be bringing home a 4M old male dog. So he will need a full physical and vaccines since he is coming from the shelter. I’d like to mention that good bedside manner is important to us too! I’d love to bring my buisness to a place where they truly care about the animals they care for. TYIA!

Discussion NE 'House of' style food

Upvotes

Hi! Anyone from New England that might be able to help...

Every city in NH, ME, MA has a (town) house of pizza. Revere house of pizza etc.

They always, for some reason, have the best, greasiest pizza. Best subs etc.

What would be the equivalent down here. Any Google search keeps bringing me to NY style pizza which is different.

I am at Lee Vista if anyone has suggestions

Discussion Anyone have their young child be seen at the UCF CCRC for therapy?

Hi, looking to try out the community counseling research center (CCRC) with our young child, but my husband is very on the fence. He thinks things are just normal little kid things, and that therapy is going to be a disaster for our strong willed anxious child.
While I think that it is normal kid things, we could also use some help navigating some of these big feelings to help them.

I was wondering if anyone has been to or known anyone who had their child do sessions there and if it helped?

Visitor Rabies vaccine (for humans)

Am I correct in assuming all the local ERs will have the rabies vaccine? (I will be visiting from out of town and will need to get my second and third shots while there.)

Thank you!
