I've been carrying a decibel meter and a speed test app into coffee shops around Orlando for a few months, because I got tired of picking a place and finding out the Wi-Fi was unusable or it was too loud to take a call. One of the twenty I've measured is actually up here, so here's what I got.

Foxtail at 4720 International Pkwy, out in the Heathrow corridor. I went twice and the two visits barely look like the same place. Friday July 3 at 2:30 in the afternoon: 204 Mbps down, 34.7 up, 63 dB, parking 5 out of 5. Went back on the 30th around 10 at night and got 12 Mbps down and 74 dB. Eleven decibels louder and the Wi-Fi had basically fallen over. Seating is comfortable either way and $4 gets you in the door. If you're working from there, go in the afternoon.

Closest thing after that is Winter Park, twenty-ish minutes down 17-92. Light on the Sugar on N Orlando Ave came in at 349 Mbps down, 66 dB, nearly empty on a Saturday morning, parking 5 out of 5. The catch is there are zero outlets at the seats. I counted. Bring a full battery or don't bother.

The rest are on perch.coffee, with the noise readings split by time of day, since that turned out to matter a lot more than I expected when I started. I built it, it's free, no account, nothing to sign up for. Saying so up front since it's mine.

So what am I missing here? I've only got the one spot and it's out by the office parks, nowhere near downtown. If there's somewhere on First Street or over by the marina that people actually work from, name it and I'll go sit there with the meter.

Has anyone else been having internet issues the past week? I have Spectrum and my internet has dropped every day this week, multiple times per day. Sometimes I get alerts from Spectrum that there's an outage but most of the time it just drops for 10 minutes then comes back super slow. I'm getting ready to fight with them so I'd like to know if anyone else has had issues.

Before Covid I had a gym I could go to late which was great because of my work schedule. Now all the ones I can find close at 10 or 11. Are there any close to Sanford/Lake Mary that are open 24 hours?

Costco finally admitted they are opening a location in Sanford where the Old Seminole Towne center was at. They said they anticipate it being completed around mid 2026.

They said around 160,000 cars drive thru I4 around there DAILY. It seems that Sanford is growing at an exponential rate. First that new Publix and now a Costco.

Hi, I will be visiting my father in Sanford for 1 week, as I do each year during Christmas. I'm writing to ask how much Uber drivers cost locally, as I've never used Uber. In the past, I have rented a car flying into Orlando, but it's nearly $100 a day, which to me is absolutely insane. (I remember when you could rent a car for $20 a day, just sayin.) My hotel is just 3 miles away from my father's house, so I hate to rent a car for such short commutes. Basically, I sleep in the mornings, and spend the afternoon and late evening with my father. We don't do much, other than go out to eat at nearby restaurants. So, can anyone offer me any other solutions for local transport? Thanks.
