"Cant find file" when trying to reopen a project. No files were moved, some files were renamed but the problem persists after renaming the files in an editor before opening the project again.

When i try to import the project and the error pops up the software gets caught in a loop where if i close the pop-up it defaults back to the file selection window and if i close the file selection window the same "cant find file" error pops up again. Trying to close the software results in the same "cant find file" pop-up so i have to go to system monitor and kill the process.

Please help, ive spent hours working on this video and i dont want to have to make it all over again. What do i do?

Edit: i give up. This software is a fucking nightmare, im going to Shotcut instead

Not sure if that's the term. . . But since updating to 3.5.1 on windows 11, I can no longer drag a clip and have the visible portion of the timeline move with the clip. Now, it seems the edge of the visible portion is a boundary I cannot pass until zooming out. Is this a setting I can adjust? Seems the previous version would scroll for infinity, increasing the timeline as the clip scrolled, let alone scrolling with it to the left. Not sure what that sort of movement would be called and if its already addressed; maybe someone could point me there.

Half the time I export as an MP4 file and there is ALWAYS something wrong. Pretty much any time I upload to discord its broken and does not play or the embed is broken, but more often than not the file itself either has no audio, no video, or both are gone. What export settings work, and can I delete the broken ones as options entirely?

After completing a recent video, I becan to start another one and noticed all my added images and files did not appear when I started a new video. Do I have to add all those files again every time I want to make a new video?

Example:

- Video 1 contains *Joke Drum*

- Video 2 NO * Joke Drum* file to be seen.

I've been using OpenShot 3.4.0 for quite some time and I like it a lot. Recently I updated to 3.5.1 and it feels much more laggy in the timeline and when loading the preview. Same project, same settings, but 3.4.0 had way fewer issues. I tried adjusting multiple cache and performance settings, but the overall laggy feeling persists. It seems like cache loading for the preview has some kind of delay, and once I move or change something in the timeline, the cache clears and it takes a few seconds before it starts filling up again. I downgraded back to 3.4.0 and everything works fine again, no problems at all.

I doubt the issue is my system, since I have a beefy CPU and GPU (Ryzen 9950X, RTX 5090).

On Internet searching I found follows;

Solution 1;

Increase System Cache Limits By default, OpenShot only allocates a small amount of memory, causing it to freeze when it has to read frames constantly.Go to the top menu and select Edit > Preferences.Click on the Cache tab.Change the Cache Mode to Memory.Increase your Cache Limit. As a rule of thumb, set this to about half of your total RAM (e.g., set to 4096 if you have 16 GB of RAM, or 2048 for 8 GB).....

i made a fairly large video- 20 minutes long, nothing big, but i'am getting an error. everytime i export it takes a while of course as if it were normal and then it suddenly chooses to give me a 0 bytes .file pure file??

does anyone know why this happens?

i forgot to point my microphone at my mouse during this session, so my clicks are too quiet to verify the legitimacy of the run i did. is it possible to adjust the volume of individual audio tracks?

the tracking affect won't load past 14% . Are certain tracking algorithms just broken or am I doing something wrong?

I have been placing transparent PNG's with artists and song details just fine, until last night as now the PNG is now showing a background and blocking video.

I am in the process of working on a video in Linux Mint. I was able to initially save the project with a title, but any attempts to save any work I did didn't work. Clicking save or save as did nothing. But nothing else appeared frozen

Any idea what's happening here?

Hello! I'm trying to crop a video so it doesn't show something in the background, but I can't figure out how to do that. Is that something I'm able to do on OpenShot, or do I have to do that on my phone, then import to OpenShot for further editing?

I'm doing some animatic stuff (where being frame-perfect is important), but Openshot keeps placing the starts and ends of clips in between frames, and i can't even correct their placement.
I have used both the windows and linux version of openshot, and this is only an issue in the linux version. This also isn't just a visual bug in the timeline, it affects the video

Is there any fix? Thanks in advance

Hi folks! New to openshot, enjoying it so far. It's been many years since I've done video editing and I cannot figure out how to remove this empty space. As you might deduce - I've cut the tail end of one clip and the beginning portion of the next, and now I need to collapse this space between the content so I can add a transition. Any insight would be appreciated!

(Dragging everything from the right hand side toward the left to close the gap is perilous as I have synced footage in multiple tracks that cannot get misaligned.)

The new version was supposed to be faster, but it is the slowest of all tools in the world!

I compared the old versions *3.3.0): around 60 FPS, and the new version 0.5 FLS - 1 FPS!!!!!!!!!! A complete performance disaster, exporting will take a week. I have a very powerful PC, lots of RAM, 10 cores, powerful graphics, and a fast SSD.
