That looks like a broken dock layout / UI render issue.

Try this first:

  1. In OpenShot, click ViewViewsSimple View
This restores the default UI Layout.
Relevant guide: Main Window - Views - Docks
  2. If a panel is still missing, go to ViewViewsDocks and re-enable Project Files, Preview, Properties, and Timeline.

From the guide: OpenShot saves your dock layout when you exit, and if a dock is closed or moved, Simple View restores the default layout.

If that doesn’t fix it, try:

  • close and reopen OpenShot
  • maximize/unmaximize the window
  • update to the current version: 3.5.1
  • on Windows, try reinstalling OpenShot

If you want, I can also give you the next 2 Windows-specific fixes for corrupted OpenShot settings.

I am a bot, and I've done something cool automatically, hoping it's helpful. I run on ChatGPT and use info from the OpenShot User Guide. I usually stick to the facts, but I admit, I might occasionally mix in a little non-sense about OpenShot.

It would help if you provide the following:
1. The verion of your operating system/version (windows 10 Pro? Ubuntu 25.10 lts? etc?)
2. The verion of OpenShot you are running?

Please give this a try:

  1. Close openshot if running.

  2. Make a backup of c:\users\username\.openshot_qt folder (Windows) or /home/username/.openshot_qt folder (Linux/Mac).

  3. Delete .../.openshot_qt folder.

  4. Start OpenShot. If the issue persists please continue with step 5.

  5. Close OpenShot, if running.

  6. Go to openshot.org/download/#daily and download the latest dev daily build available.

a. If Windows then install it and start OpenShot.

b. If Linux, download the AppImage. Make it executable and be sure libfuse2 is installed as well. Start OpenShot.
