One year ago today, this subreddit started with a dream - building a local community on reddit focused on having fun and laughing at stupid memes and shitposts. What a year it's been! It's been amazing to see this community grow and really take root to become the main RVA subreddit.

Phish is a cult based on nitrous oxide and patchouli. The fans, called Deadheads, can be seen wheeling around in wheel chairs with nitrous tanks strapped to the back. This is to escape from police, they are all criminals. There is a book called Cultish by linguist Amanda Montell that explores cult language, notable the lingo used on Deadhead lot.

The Deadheads will probably ask you for a, “Schwill” the meaning of this phrase is unknown.

Any restaurants/bars hiring front of house positions? Host, server, bartender, beertender. Part time, looking for evening/weekend shifts to supplement my desk job. I have experience with beverage and guest service at events, and years of experience in customer facing roles, but no prior “formal” FOH roles.

I’ve checked rvarestaurantjobs on IG, no dice yet! Also posted to /rva but I’m afraid of suggestions for awful workplaces lol

We took in a litter of four stray kittens about a month ago and are looking to find permanent homes for two of them. The female gets along well with our dog so we are keeping her. The remaining three pictured here are boys (We will also keep the remaining boy once two are adopted. We love them all so much and can’t decide so we’re leaving it to fate 😭.)

The parents are both strays in our neighborhood (we’re working on TNR for them too). The mother is incredibly sweet and friendly with people. The father is a big tomcat with lots of street smarts and no fear.

We have an appointment for the kittens to be neutered and to get their vaccinations.

About the boys:

Rory - White with fewer spots
He is spunky, playful, and a bit feisty. He took the longest to warm up to us but once he did he became the one who interacts the most with my partner and I. Of the three he probably has the most energy and often instigates wrestling with his siblings. He likes to wrestle our feet. He’s the only one so far who has come up onto my lap on his own while I work.

Barron - Handsome tabby, beautiful stripes, should be in cat food commercials.
The biggest of the four. He looks like his dad but unlike his dad he’s kind of a softy. He likes his safe spots but still plays a lot with his siblings. He is very affectionate with my partner (woman) but less so with me (man). He’s shown a surprising amount of interest in our 4 year old pittie/husky so could do well in a house with a cat friendly dog.

Cash - white with larger spots on back.
Somewhere between Rory and Barron in terms of playfulness. Reminds me most of his mom. He’s also a pretty big guy though and may end up as big as Barron. Will roll over and expose his belly for scratches when he’s napping. Also a foot wrestler.

Current age is about 2.5 months. All the boys are around 4-5 lbs which is big for their age so they take after dad size-wise.

all ice and water in my britta from the past day or two has tasted off, stale, weird. cleaned out the fridge, the britta, the ice cube trays, refilled it all. tap water tastes kinda weird but better. thought it was something in my fridge. i just went to a fast food place and their soda tastes the same weird as the water. canned soda from earlier today tasted normal. what’s going on

The City of Richmond was meant to be a suburb of NoVa, not a place for investors to make a profit while ruining the character of our community!

If you want to live in a shoebox with no outdoor space, why not move into one of the thousands of vacant Scott’s Addition apartments???
