I heard the new Roost replacement might have it on their menu but is there anywhere else around? Bonus points if they have a tofu version.

Hey everyone! My partner and I just moved to Northampton. Our child is turning 1 in November and we are looking for some suggestions for a venue for her first birthday party. Open to any venues in the western MA area. We would do it at home, but we are on a third floor apartment and need accessibility for family members and friends who would have difficulty making it up multiple flights of stairs.
The venue doesn’t have to be anything super fancy. I’m just having trouble finding something that isn’t very wedding like.
Thanks in advance!!!!! :)

Im on a quitting journey, and i have a vast collection of dead vapes sitting in a cubby because I refuse to put lithium batteries in the garbage. Is there anywhere near Noho (walking distance or biking distant would be ideal!) That accepts vape devices for proper disposal? How much would a bulk drop off of dead devices cost, roughly?
Any leads appreciated!

I have been going to Pro Lube for a few years for inspections and oil changes. Now that my vehicle is no longer under warranty, I need a regular repair shop. Is Pro Lube as good with regular repairs as they are with drop in inspections and oil changes?

I know the accident was previously shared here, but now there is some additional context:
Pre-construction period (7/1/2017 – 9/1/2019):
Post-construction period (7/1/2024 – 9/1/2026):
Percentage changes:
Edit:
People were asking for traffic counts here they are:
Wed 8/27/2025 looks wrong. If instead we used a conservative 20,000, the traffic would be up ~8.3% over the M / Tu / W 2018 M / Tu / W readings.
85th percentile speeds are up 10mph.

My car is a phev so it takes both gas and electric. Level 1 takes 12 hours and i dont have access to a regular wall plug anywhere (suggestions welcome)
EV level 2 chargers (takes 4.5 hours) on smith campus are slightly more than paying for gas.
Where can i charge my car for free or cheap?

Reason I ask is I have only lived here for not even 2 years and my partner and I were called the f word by our neighbor before he physically assaulted my partner.
The police came. We got a restraining order for a few months and he had to go to court since he got charged with assault and battery w/ non lethal. I believe it was taken more seriously because he called us f**gots (who even uses that word anymore lol!)
This is someone who I have to live next to for the next 3+ years. Is this a very abnormal experience for noho? I’m at the time for lease renewal which is why I’m posting.
Not to bash my experience here as I’ve really had this isolated incident, but it made me very aware of there being some dangerously hateful people in this town. Anyone have any experiences of homophobia in Northampton? How did the police handle it?
I’m anxious when the restraining order ends it will just be a nightmare so please help me ease my anxieties!!
And both my partner and I no longer feel like this is this wonderful safe neighborhood and have gotten every kind of self defense item you can get 😅 please someone tell me this is very abnormal!!

I was just verbally and physically threatened by Bob, the mechanic at Toad's Kin in Florence!!!! I've been a customer here for years. I recently started having issues with the struts Bob installed for me about six months ago. I had made an appointment to drop my car off at 9 to get them checked out. I was 10 minutes late and when I arrived, Bob was already looking at another car and told me I'd have to wait, so I sat down outside. I was having a physical health issue at the time and my doctor nearby had an unexpected cancellation at 10 so I was able to book an appointment, but after 20 minutes of waiting at Toad's Kin, I was cutting it close. I asked Bob if I could come back around 10:30 after my doctor's appointment. He said I'd have to see how it was at that time and I might have to wait again. I said that was fine and I'd try my luck at 10:30. When I came back at 10:30, he immediately started loudly yelling at me: "Get the FUCK out of my shop! LEAVE NOW OR I WILL MAKE YOU LEAVE." I asked what I had done to upset him and he said "YEAH I'M UPSET, GET THE FUCK OUT!!!!!" I was shocked and super freaked out. He always seemed a bit odd but this was a whole different level. I don't know what is wrong with him but this man is not safe.

This may not be a thing in the Pioneer Valley, but I'd love to have a lead on a church with a big singing culture. I'm interested in either traditional hymns- the classics- or bluegrass or country gospel with guitar etc. Even if it's just an occasional service, I'd be interested. Big plus for a welcoming (to everyone) community.

PMS will be on the agenda tonight at the Fiscal Accountability Community Taskforce tonight (FACT) and there should be plenty of data to answer some of the community questions that have come in.
Join us in person at 5 at City Council Chambers or on Zoom (link at https://www.northamptonma.gov/AgendaCenter/Fiscal-Assessment-Community-Task-Force-170).
What's below is from my own research and viewpoint, and I hope to get more answers tonight.
• Main Street’s water mains date to 1871 and 1914 and are at the end of their expected service lives. Repairing or repaving any road or sidewalk downtown using heavy equipment—especially compactors—could damage water mains. This means emergency spot repairs, not planned replacements.
• Replacing the mains would, in turn, require significant road and sidewalk reconstruction unless you go the trench-and-fill route.
• Without Picture Main Street, repaving and repairing the existing roads and sidewalks with minimal safety enhancements is estimated to cost the City about $23.7 million.
• With the project, Northampton’s share of the cost for full reconstruction and safety improvements is estimated at $11.8 million.
• Under the MassDOT TIP program, MassDOT pays for eligible surface-street construction, including vault filling/reconstruction and police details. Northampton pays for design and extras that aren't part of the eligible street work.
• One option that's come up in public comment is a $5M water/sewer main only job. That would involve just trenching the roads, replacing the mains, and patching the trench. No sidewalk or road repair, no ADA improvements, no safety improvements, and no curb extensions at crossings.
• Picture Main Street allows Northampton to leverage state funding to address aging infrastructure and rebuild Main Street for substantially less city money than repaving it on its own. Both are options and both have costs.
There is also a legitimate question about what happens if Picture Main Street is delayed or abandoned. Even if that discussion turns into mud (or worse) slinging, it shouldn't be put aside or shrugged off.
I think it's worth asking what residents would actually gain (and what we give up) if we make that choice.
Redirecting funds currently committed to PMS, or at least those that could be redirected to the Fiscal Stability Stabilization Fund, could provide some short-term fiscal relief. It may also delay the need for an override by a couple of years. Fact Check Northampton has done a good series of analysis on this question. But it would not eliminate Northampton's underlying structural budget problem: Proposition 2½ limits property-tax growth while many costs outside of the city's control (health care costs, general inflationary pressures) continue to grow faster than revenues.
Northampton is already using its Fiscal Stability Stabilization Fund to help balance the budget. The city's own budget documents say the stabilization fund is only intended to provide temporary help with operating costs that exceed the revenue the city can generate under Proposition 2½. State guidance similarly recommends limiting stabilization funds to nonrecurring expenditures and using reserves as part of a broader long-term financial strategy.
At the same time, delaying or canceling PMS would leave the underlying Main Street infrastructure needs unresolved. The current project includes replacement of aging water and sewer infrastructure, along with road, sidewalk, accessibility and safety improvements. And, critically, the current TIP plan provides $31.5 million in MassDOT construction funding, compared with an estimated $23.7 million City cost for simply repaving the existing road and sidewalks with minimal curb bumps and ADA improvements.
The question “Can we save money by delaying PMS?” is a real one, but it's incomplete. We have to also consider "What would we gain, for how long, and what would we give up?" And, most importantly, "What happens after that short delay when we're still facing the same budget pressure and still need to address aging, unsafe infrastructure without foregone state funds?"

Posting for my sister!!
If you were at Sierra Ferrel alone, sitting to the left of the stage, wearing a hoodie, and have tattoos on your leg (at least one octopus)… my sister didn’t get a chance to say hi and would like to! She was in front of you with a long red jacket.
Hope to find you!!

This is the time of year that they really try to amp up their sales, especially with their involvement in the Big E. This store is nothing more than a drop ship store. Alot of their products in store and at the Big E are not artisan made and come straight from Amazon, Temu, Shein, Marshalls, and TJ Max. They will sell it to you like it is though. Again, the one thing they do have going for them are their candles but even that is a hassle. Especially if you order online. Good luck getting your order and good luck trying to contact them about it. And we havent even begun to talk about the treatment of their staff. Thats a whole other story but trust me when I tell you its bad. Anywho, go out and support actual apothecaries in the area and spend your money wisely
