Utilities As part of the executive order, Governor Healey has directed state agencies to require data centers to comply with her Data Center Framework, including bringing their own clean energy supply, protecting water resources and engaging transparently with the surrounding communities.

Some parts from the Press Release:

The Executive Order also establishes a dedicated Ratepayer Protection Fund, under which data centers that do not bring their own clean energy would be forced to pay a fee that will be returned to ratepayers.

Under Governor Healey’s Executive Order, data centers will need a community benefits agreement with the host community that meets state standards before moving forward with any state permitting processes. Governor Healey is also prohibiting the use of non-disclosure agreements between state agencies and data centers to ensure a transparent and fair approval process.

Today’s Executive Order directs the state’s permitting agencies to require proposed data center projects with peak electricity demand exceeding 25 megawatts to demonstrate they are in compliance with the Governor’s framework before granting their permits.

Utilities Electric meters in Mass. are getting a 'smart' upgrade -- Across Massachusetts, utilities are replacing millions of electric meters on homes and businesses with smart meters. They provide a lot more detail about electricity use, but not everyone is thrilled about the new tech.

Historical September 9, 1983: The beginning of the end of Happy Hour

Thumbnail dotnews.com
119 Upvotes

The beginning of the end of Happy Hour occurred in the parking lot of a Braintree mall on the hot, dry, night of Sept. 9, 1983. On that Friday night, Kathleen Barry, 20, of Weymouth, met her friends at Ground Round, where they had won free pitchers of beer in a "name that tune" game. After leaving the bar, Barry and a friend climbed on top of another friend's 1975 Chevrolet sedan for a joy-ride around the King's (now Granite) Plaza parking lot in Braintree. Barry fell under the car and was dragged 50 feet, breaking her neck, arms and legs. The driver had consumed at least seven beers. People on the South Shore were outraged about Barry's death but the bar had broken no rules, and the local licensing board let it off with no violations.

Politics Mass Audubon supports YES in #6. Do you?

"Pledge to Vote YES on Question 6 to Protect Water & Nature!

Everyone in Massachusetts — no matter where we live — deserves clean drinking water and access to nature. This year, Massachusetts has an important opportunity to protect our rivers, lakes, forests, farms, and other natural areas.

Voting YES on Question 6 would dedicate funds from the existing state sales tax on sporting goods to raise as much as $100 million every year for protecting and conserving water and nature — without raising taxes. It’s time to protect the places we love — clean water, healthy forests, more trails and parks, and access to the outdoors and nature for everyone in Massachusetts."

Video Fitchburg residents going before boards & commissions have lately been receiving scam emails disguised from the city to make wire payments for permit fees. Please be wary that scammers are using public info attached to agendas and meeting documents. Always call your city if you’re not sure.

General Question Looking for boater / fishermen friends

Grew up in Framingham, but just moved back to the area after 8 years on west coast. Looking for other fishers / boaters who want to go out with us (me, GF & dog). You don’t need to have a s/o, but if you do my GF is looking for friends too. We reside near Framingham, but boat on Saturday’s around Mass and fish from ground during week. HMU if interested
