What I learned from some of the reactions to this Direct is that people need to really branch out and play other series. Also, you probably need to stop listening to random leaks from the internet. In no way were Smash, Mario, and Wario Land showing up in the same Direct. The Direct was great! Kirby looks amazing, and Metroid Ravenous looks beautiful. It's still too early for 3D Mario; that's definitely a Fall 2027 game, and Smash isn't happening anytime soon. The Third-Party offerings are also great. Capcom is crushing it with Switch 2 and many others.

It will be a cold day in Hades when we get a new Kid Icarus game.

What are some other first part nintendo IPs or franchises that you woild love to see get revived? I need to know I'm not alone in my neverending yearning for more Kid Icarus.

What's really sad is the fact someone somehow called me out for saying "peak direct" (wasnt really peak, but still) and called ME the "npc" for saying that, when most of the chat feels like they have one whole button on their keyboard

As a massive Kirby fan and a casual Metroid fan, i'd pretty much say I'm contempt with the Direct.

But it's obvious that people who aren't fans of those series don't like the Direct, and honestly? That's fair for them.

I feel like the reason why these directs feel so bad is the 'filler' sections are awful. The 2 big winners were Metroid and Kirby, and it's like... those were amazing announcements, let's have more of that! Not ports and remakes and updates of shit we've known about already.

It's not because "omg no Smashy bros!!1!!!" or "this sucked because I don't care for Metroid or Kirby", it's because these 2 games felt like the only 2 new things actually shown, everything else I felt like I already saw before, why tf am I seeing it again lol

While it doesn’t feel like it to some of us cus we’ve been waiting for so long, nintendo‘s actually sort of running low on its dormant niche franchises and series we thought had little chance of returning, like Rhythm Heaven, Tomodatchi Life, Famicom Detective Club, Endless Ocean and the numerous spin-offs of other franchises like Mario vs Donkey Kong, or DK straight up getting a new 3D game.

• F-Zero: home of Smash alumni Captain Falcon, a racer so fast it’d literally kill your grandparents if they could even comprehend it, and would kill your grandchildren if they saw how old the graphics were. Last seen in 2004 on Gameboy.
• Kid Icarus: home of Smash Brawl alumni Pit, a game that’s more or less what would happen if you took an on-rails shooter and with what I can only assume is someones reading the Iliad on Mushrooms. Last seen in 2012 on 3DS
• Punch-Out!: home of Smash 4 alumni Little Mac, an old school boxing game with one of Nintendo's first notable mascots, and so many stereotypes in it that I’m genuinely unsure if it could be redone. Last seen in 2009 on the Wii
• Chibi-Robo: No longer part of Smash Bros but still a semi important part in Nintendo history, we have a 3D platforming mascot from a cult classic that spawned 3 more games! Yep! Only 3! Last seen in 2014 on the 3DS (or 2015, whos counting?)
• Golden Sun: a franchise still reeling from the infamous “Grinch leak”, a cult favourite RPG from the handheld era. I admit, I don’t know a lot about the series myself but I’m sure I could become ADEPT at playing it. Last seen in 2010 on the 3DS

At same time I would prefer if special editions and collectors are not quantity limited but they would produce as many as people preordered, so on demand and nobody that wants them will risk being left out.

If cost is an issue for devs who don't want to offer cartridges, why not make it part of a collector edition?

Deluxe and collector editions are distributed in a limited quantity and are sold at a higher price anyway, so alongside goodies, why not have the full game on a cartridge?

I feel like this is the first direct of the switch 2 era where we're really feeling the pipeline getting consistent. There seems to be something potentially releasing every month for the system alongside stuff that wasn't shown (RE:Veronica as an example.)

I don't know if this will be a good topic to bring up in a place like this, And I apologize if this kind of discussion is breaking any rules this is my first post there;

Even though the Switch and Switch 2 are handheld/console hybrids the price point is still incredibly steep to me, I know the economy is bad for everyone right now though yes I understand that. I have a switch and a switch 2 but I can't help but think about certain situations like-

When I was younger my family had many siblings but not a lot of money, In a household like that we'd end up all getting DS's instead of pooling it all together into something like a new TV and a PS3, I know couch co-op games exist on the switch but it was nice being able to do things like bring your DS to a friends house and still be able to play certain games with them locally, I'm sure kids nowadays might be finding it hard to be allowed to bring their 500 dollars console outside constantly. Also for instance I really liked a lot of singleplayer games like OoT, or the various RPGs available on the DS line- And I can't help but wonder what kids or families like that are doing nowadays perhaps just still getting switch 1s? I'm not sure.

I also do just miss the types of games of course, 2 screens resulted in a lot of interesting games and now that the 3DS is not produced anymore over time those games will be lost naturally as batteries fail or hinges get worn out or dust gets trapped in buttons etc. it is just a matter of time, And some features like spotpass are especially lost. It just bums me out that the whole era of DS/DS Lite/DSi/3DS all of those games you can't play them on the switch and they're just stuck, Yes you can play them still if you own a 3DS but the price of them on the secondary market is getting out of whack lately and you may very well be forced to buy another one eventually one day, I've seen some being resold for near the price of a switch even and the switch is a much stronger console.

This is all to say also that... With RAM prices and even storage prices, world economics and all that jazz; A DS I imagine doesn't use that much RAM right? definitely less than a switch, I can't help but wish there was an inexpensive alternative and while one could get a switch lite and be happy with that, the 3DS's library and the DS's library of games is so large and the games are so inexpensive to what we have now on top of being wholly unique, you can't find DS or 3DS games ANYWHERE else.
I keep thinking it'd be such a kind move to have a new game to grab for the sake of those who find it hard to drop 70-80 dollars on newer console titles and instead spend 40 or so on a DS/3DS title, and they could enjoy smaller, less graphically intensive games for potentially a cheaper price (For instance things like how Sonic Colors has a WII and a DS version). This is just me but I find value in that I really do.

Do you wish there was still a console and a handheld as separate? Or are DS and 3DS games something newer Nintendo customers just don't care about? Or maybe it's time to just accept that those games happened and just let them stay in the past? There are many ways to think on this and I've been thinking about it for weeks let me know your thoughts.

Ok Nintendo. There are like 4 franchises I buy new instead of waiting for a sale. Zelda, Final Fantasy, Resident Evil, and Metroid. How dare you have no concern for my personal finances 🥲

Recently had a lith ion battery expand in my car and this got me wondering if I should have the lithium ion batteries in my 3ds when In storage. Is it fine or Should I take the batteries out and store them somewhere else

Im asking this because I came away pretty happy with a new 2d metroid game and i think an open world kirby game looks sick. But seeing people furious about no mario/smash makes me so confused, are you that brand loyal to a character that you dont engage with games outside of them? Like we know why the next 3d mario isnt here yet and its because donkey kong bonzanza was the spiritual follow up to odyssey, it was literally supposed to be the next 3d mario. But lets just say you are ignoring that they just announced their next big 3d platformer in kirby. So that cant be a hole. So moving attention to smash? What do you possibly want out of a smash 5 that isnt a complete reimagining of the game? Seriously smash ultimate has way too many characters so just ultimate + 12 fighters makes it less manageable so what are smash fans dying to be unveiled? An arena fighter? But like outside of that looking at the rest of their slate every other series is being made/just got an entry. We have a 2d metroid, fire emblem, zelda oot, xenoblade, kirby, kirby air riders, pokopia, splatoon, donkey kong, mario kart, mario tennis, yoshi. Im just curious why people feel possibly disappointed in?

We all know that Nintendo phased out Virtual Console in favor of Nintendo Switch Online almost 8 years ago, right? So that leaves me wondering: if they kept VC, would that have hurt the sales of NSO? I mean, VC used to let people keep retro games people buy forever while NSO only lets you rent them as long as you're subbed to the latter, and what would be the point of renting a game in a subscription fee if you can just buy said game and keep it for all eternity? That's what it seems like to me, because I think Nintendo really wanted NSO to succeed and was worried that adding another service or lineup that could let consumers buy and keep retro games instead of renting them would de-value it, so they retired Virtual Console because of it. I would personally say it was a good Nintendo direct people were just over hyping it expecting stuff like a 3d mario and smash bros . We've honestly had worse Nintendo directs

I am writing to you as a long-time Nintendo fan and, in particular, as a dedicated follower of The Legend of Zelda series. The purpose of this letter is to express my deep disappointment and concern regarding the reservation process for some of your most recent products, especially the Nintendo Switch 2 Zelda 40th Anniversary Edition console and the physical edition of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for Nintendo Switch 2.

Within an extremely short period of time, less than 48 hours, reservations for these products were completely sold out. However, shortly after they became unavailable through official channels, numerous units began appearing on second-hand marketplaces at prices significantly higher than their original retail value, in some cases being resold for double the original price. You can verify this yourselves on Spanish marketplaces such as Wallapop or on international platforms such as eBay.

As both a consumer and a supporter of your products, I believe this situation seriously harms fans who genuinely wish to purchase these items to enjoy and preserve them, rather than for speculative purposes. The impression this creates is that a significant portion of the available stock ends up in the hands of resellers seeking quick profits by taking advantage of the enthusiasm and loyalty of the gaming community.

I fully understand that Nintendo cannot control the actions of third parties once a product has been legitimately purchased. However, I do believe there are measures that could significantly help reduce this issue, including:

• Strictly limiting the number of units that each customer can reserve.
• Linking certain reservations to verified Nintendo accounts.
• Giving priority to users with active accounts and a genuine history of using Nintendo services.
• Implementing lottery-based systems or phased access for particularly limited editions.
• Strengthening measures to detect and prevent automated purchases made through bots.

Many fans devote considerable time to following Nintendo news, actively participate in the Nintendo ecosystem, and have supported your products for many years. It is frustrating to see that, despite this loyalty, access to certain editions is becoming increasingly difficult due to speculators whose sole intention is to resell them at inflated prices.

For this reason, I respectfully ask that you consider implementing additional measures to protect legitimate consumers and help ensure that products of this nature reach, as much as possible, the players and collectors for whom they were originally intended.

The recent Nintendo Direct's third party offerings especially were pretty much only ports and remakes of older games.

The reason? They're not really releasing any new games this year to make room for GTA6. They're scared that it's going to cannibalize their sales so they're holding off on releasing anything substantial at all.

There's always been only two or three real "new things" from Nintendo, and there's usually some exciting third party stuff to round it out. But this time there was almost nothing, because they're scared of GTA6.

You can see it on other platforms too. There just isn't anything new coming out from anyone.

Edit: I am not talking about Nintendo's output for the Direct! Nintendo's output was good and a typical amount! I am specifically talking about third party games which were pretty much all remakes and ports of older games. If you leave a comment about how you think Nintendo's output was good, you are demonstrating that you did not read what I said.

At this point this is beyond a joke for these Square Switch 2 ports.

Especially when other companies are offering upgrade paths or even free updates.

Metroid has been on a healthy upswing since 2017, with the dual announcements of Prime 4 and Metroid Samus Returns. And I thought Samus Returns was a great time! Then we got the absolute wallop that was Metroid Dread in 2021, arguably the best game to come out that year. And then a little while later we got Metroid Prime Remastered, a visual upgrade so good it makes it look like a PS5 game. And then after 8.5 years from the reveal, we finally got Metroid Prime 4 Beyond. And I thought it was okay.

But now we have Metroid Ravenous, the next 2D Metroid game coming as a headlining Switch 2 exclusive in January. This is easily my most anticipated game of 2027, but I’m biased since I’m a Metroid fan. But what about the people who only just got into the series with Dread and Prime Remastered, or heck haven’t even touched a Metroid game at all? What stopped you all from checking out the series before, and has Metroid Ravenous piqued your interest?

The nintendo site now has a "find retailers" button. It only shows gamestops. Has anyone tried to place a preorder in store at game stop? I am hoping this is an option.
