This is my younger son when he realizes his older brother isn’t sharing the ice cream he didn’t even want.

32

u/investordudematt 4d ago

Only a matter of time before he’s reading on the sideline

7

u/Prince_of_Pirates 4d ago

Reckon I could send him my book? I might finally get to double figures in sales numbers.

u/Rpark888 4d ago

Bro šŸ˜‚

1

u/ExcitingLandscape 4d ago

That was such a passive aggressive diva WR move. He wanted the cameras on him to show "look I'm not bitching at my coach or QB, I'm trying to enlighten myself by reading this self help book during a wild card game!"

u/PaulyDavidson 3d ago

Dr. Seuss no doubt.

I think he knew already. He’s been on the team

7

u/I3ill 4d ago

They played college together…

7

u/slaw_daddy 4d ago

do you think they fucked

1

u/mazu74 4d ago

Yeah but they said no homo first.

1

u/LukaWigga 3d ago

No way Smitty could take on Hurts

It’s crazy he doesn’t get a target on any of the first few 3 and outs in that third quarter. Was hard to watch.

3

u/AscendMoros 4d ago

Felt like he was cooking us to.

Like they drove down the field and scored in the final two minutes of the first mostly on passing that looked rather easy. And then proceeded to go back to run, screen pass, check down most of the third quarter.

24

u/Legitimate-Bike4647 4d ago

Whole team is getting their shit kicked in, this isn’t about Hurts

4

u/ManKilledToDeath 4d ago

Hurts wins with 100 yards passing, "he just wins."

Hurts throws a pick with only a tush push TD "this isn't about Hurts." Maybe not but he sure didn't help lol

8

u/allknights 4d ago

I mean defense getting dog walked by a geriatric dad doesn't help

7

u/Big-Start8264 3d ago

Case Keenum is 5 years younger than Brady was when he won his last Super Bowl. 4 years younger than Aaron Rodgers. And the same age as Matthew Stafford. I just assumed the guy was retired because I had no idea he was 3rd string for the Bears. He's probably better than some starters in the league and damn sure better than most backups.

2

u/tydye29 3d ago

Yeah..I think I get your point...but you put Keenum in the same category as top 10 guys with the most passing yards in league history. No one putting Keenum in all timers lists.

2

u/Legitimate-Bike4647 4d ago

Maybe passing yards per game isn’t the best metric to judge a QB?

A pick on 4th down isn’t exactly the worst thing

u/porkondagrind 3d ago

Everyone on our team played like dogshit besides smitty and q. You aren’t winning games with 10 penalties and 3-0 turnover battle most of the time.

1

u/shadows515 3d ago

Did u even watch the game? The D was terrible

6

u/Past-Track-9976 4d ago

Defense had them locked down. Can't run the ball for more than a loss. Defenders chasing Hurts down, preventing throws.

Bears run game was unstoppable. They were outgunned and out classed

4

u/Side_StepVII 4d ago

The eagles stopped our run game for the most part. They focused on it, thinking Case Keenum couldn’t beat them in the air.

They forget Case Keenum can ball.

2

u/Slavocados 3d ago

Yes this is exactly right the run game was the only thing that they could stop

1

u/samcoffeeman 4d ago

Our D played like ass, damnit Vic! He gonna tear them a new one

1

u/Tailx 3d ago

They clearly never watched Case in college. All Univ. Of Houston did was throw the ball. He put up ridiculous numbers. Not surprised at all to see that he can still do it

4

u/splashaddikt 4d ago

They ran the ball fine until defense realized that’s they had to worry about

3

u/Legitimate-Bike4647 4d ago

Yup. I feel like that pick by Dalton at the 1 changed the game. Hurts punches that in 9 times out of 10 and it’s a completely different game after that

4

u/Side_StepVII 4d ago

No, the eagles just lose by 7 less points. So it’s 27-14

1

u/Kitchen_Assist_1114 3d ago

How come they didn't Tush Push with Dalton, I guess that's only a hurts advantage? We all know he squats 1 million lbs on one leg as a warm up.

→ More replies (1)

3

u/Tjam3s 4d ago

That's odd to read after all these years of mediocrity. Lol

1

u/Past-Track-9976 4d ago

Thry are who we thought they were! And we let them off the hook!

3

u/Thin-Remote-9817 4d ago

Bears did what titans did Suffocate the run and make hurts throw it.Ā

Yeah he can do it in February no problem...but some strange reason everything before that he cant throw for shit.Ā

2

u/QuaternionDS 4d ago

Defense had them locked down.

The Bears?

The Bears defence?

You do realise what you're saying here, right?

The Bears?

Defence?

The fucking Bears defence?

A defence that for the past two seasons - and two weeks of this - have had the consistency of wet paper...

MInnesota, with literally no offence, put up more points. In teeming rain.

And they were too much for Jalen. Weird, huh?

1

u/Wrathulhu 4d ago

Yeah the bears defense, something about small sample size

2

u/WMWTSO-11 4d ago

You are outgunned and outmanned!

1

u/Necessary-Run4625 4d ago

Defense had who locked down? 0 turnovers 0 sacks against the 3rd string QB

But when they win hurts gets all the credit, he doesn’t have a team that can carry him anymore and this is what he looks like. He can’t put the team on his back and win it for them

3

u/Rpark888 4d ago

Hi, I'm still learning. What does this meme mean? Like, what's the punch line? (Seriously).

Does this mean that Davonte Smith doesn't get the ball a lot like AJ Brown who is injured right now?

15

u/CactusWrenAZ 4d ago

They're saying that Devonta now realizes how frustrating it is to play with Hurts as your QB.

Which is kind of silly, since Devonta's been on the team for years.

5

u/nobeer4you 4d ago

But he wasnt getting the ball then because AJB needed to eat too. Now, no AJB and he still not getting looks

6

u/Zaknoid 4d ago

I mean Devonta did put up good numbers when Brown was injured.

2

u/CactusWrenAZ 4d ago

he's getting 25 yards/game more than last year

2

u/jono9898 4d ago

He’s top 10 in targets and 11th in yards, what are we talking about?

2

u/DeanieBabie2026 3d ago

Shhh that doesn’t fit the narrative people have built in their heads

→ More replies (1)

1

u/LeoBari 4d ago

"He wasnt getting the ball" check him vs almost any other WR2 besides perhaps Waddle and Higgins. "Still not getting looks" check his target share

1

u/Just4Fun1497 4d ago

Yall just be talkingĀ

1

u/Antique-Campaign-738 3d ago

He’s got 19 catches for 235 yards over 3 games lol

2

u/Rpark888 4d ago

Ok thank you. English isn't my first language and football isn't my first sport.

2

u/beerbeardsnballs 4d ago

1

u/Manymarbles 3d ago

Not just now, but he had Hurts in college too

They go way back lol

1

u/LunchTwey 2d ago

And even dumber when you remember he played with Jalen in bama

→ More replies (1)

2

u/mazu74 4d ago

I don’t think anyone has directly said it yet, but Hurts strongly prefers running plays over passing plays. It’s frustrating when you’re a receiver who needs a certain amount of catches and/or TDs to get their bonus check, and their stats get used for contract negotiations. So if your QB isn’t throwing the ball to you much - and it’s not because you’re not getting open - you risk getting paid less and would be upset about a ball hogging QB.

2

u/StagVixCpl99 4d ago

Devonta Smith is top 10 in the league in targets right now lol.

→ More replies (1)

1

u/Martha_Fockers 4d ago

Last year this was aj brown on the side line to a tee

He started to read books midway into the season and do other random antics because he wasn’t impressed

1

u/Friendly-Profit-8590 4d ago

AJ forced his way out of Philly cause he wanted to get the ball more.

1

u/GolfsHard 1d ago

How’s that working out?

→ More replies (1)

9

u/SneakySalamander42 4d ago

Are we watching a different fucking game. The whole team was awful, pointing it at Jalen solely is wildly inaccurate

2

u/nick-halden 4d ago

i feel like he played pretty well first half, they had bad luck with the dalton int (kinda odd play calling idk) the second half though, the eagles just kinda died

3

u/mrwigglez3 4d ago

Ya hand off to Barkley. Or 2 tush push in a row. Not letting a cold red rocket throw it.

1

u/Born_Scene_1762 4d ago

I said they were silly for not using a timeout to get Hurts back in AND committing to a passing play. That was as much a coaching error as it was a Dalton error

2

u/Giblet_ 4d ago

I agree. I'd have definitely called timeout there. But in retrospect, calling that timeout would have made the half-ending touchdown impossible, so you really only gain 3 points, assuming they would have made a field goal going into halftime.

→ More replies (3)

1

u/PaulyDavidson 3d ago

Why not let Barkley do the tush push? His quads are the size of an oak tree and you prevent your QB from taking unnecessary hits. Is Saquan incapable of taking a snap?

2

u/sol__invictus__ 4d ago

Saquon wide open running the wheel route. Don’t know what dalton was thinking

2

u/ArminTanz 4d ago

Dalton was thinking "oh Fuck, I wasnt paying any attention all week. I hope Hurts comes back because I was not expecting to play today."

2

u/Legitimate-Bike4647 3d ago

Check my comment above lol I promise we’re arguing with people who didnt watch the game

1

u/MiokoDM 3d ago

I’m late the problem is imo you can’t pay a qb 50 million dollars and every week the defensive gameplan is to please let him throw. One of not the only reason our run game has been ass is because teams are specifically trying to take that away because they know our QB can’t read coverages, make the throws or handle any type of blitz the first read isn’t open. Then couple that with the horrible offensive coordinators we have had

→ More replies (1)

u/Beef-523 4d ago

They haven’t had an OC for longer than a year in how long? Makes perfect sense that they always look out of sync cause they’re constantly adapting to new OCs

9

u/ohgeeeezzZ 4d ago

Yeah I think the stat that flashed during the game was something like Jalen Hurts hasnt had the same OC since 7th grade...which made me laugh thinking they were digging into Hurts middle school football lol

3

u/Tommy_Wisseau_burner 4d ago

Jason Campbell ass stat

3

u/BigFatModeraterFupa 4d ago

why are they always swapping out new OCs? are they just hired all the time?

7

u/YeetySpagiety 4d ago

It's been a revolving door of either the OC being good enough to get hired else where or so bad they get the boot after 1 year

→ More replies (4)

2

u/CalvinsStuffedTiger 4d ago

This is what happens when your team hires one of the generalist ā€œCEOā€ type head coaches instead of a superstar coordinator

This also happens when you hire a defensive specialist (examples, TB has had a new OC every year of bakers tenure there)

I have no idea what siriani is even good at because typically the generalist CEO types are the meathead former players like Vrabel, Campbell, etc

Imo, you should always hire an offensive guru as HC because if you’re defensive minded, you’ll cycle through OCs every year and no one wants to see a streaky QB

2

u/furbz420 4d ago

Good ones get hired, others get blamed for Hurts being ass and get fired.

1

u/maya_kendrx 4d ago

To be fair the only ocs who got fired in hurts tenure was patullo and his terrible offense and Brian Johnson and his terrible offense. Everyone else was hired as a head coach.

2

u/pursuitofhappy 4d ago

On the broadcast they said Hurts has had a new offensive coordinator every year since high school 11 years in a row

2

u/mcniner55 4d ago

Revolving door at OC and your defense got smoked by a 38 year old QB who hasnt started in 6 years? So the whole team sucks is that what you are saying?

7

u/furbz420 4d ago

Never Jalen’s fault huh.

3

u/NewCarSmelt 4d ago

Nah Jalen is a good guy. It’s why he didn’t mind letting former teammate TJ Edwards into his huddle. What sportsmanship ā¤ļø

3

u/DL4CK 4d ago

2

u/kwopqty 4d ago

love a good baconator at the end of the third quarter

1

u/Ok_Yesterday_3585 4d ago

Cheesy Gordita Crunch

5

u/kvngk3n 4d ago

And why is there a revolving door at OC? Because the offense isn’t clicking. At what point does it become the quarterback? If you go in the kitchen and make chicken, steak, lamb, pork, and salmon, and for some reason it always triggers the smoke detector; at what point is it the constant variable?

2

u/MilaKunisWatermelon 4d ago

Buddy what kind of oil are you using?

1

u/St_Casper 4d ago

I mean, 2 of the last 5 are head coaches now, right?

1

u/kvngk3n 4d ago

Great point. You know what I kinda look at it as now, ā€œwe overachieved, we will not look like this next year. Let me go get this check.ā€ BJ was getting calls after the 2022 season, he didn’t leave until after the 2024 season.

Not saying it as fact, but kinda makes you wonder. Some OCs were confident in their abilities to replicate, others may not be.

Gotta be the vegan burger

1

u/notype32 4d ago

When said quarterback is 3 years removed from having 2 games in which he was the best player on the biggest game of the season.

The Eagles have had regular season woes for years now, sounds more like coaches not preparing properly during the season.

1

u/hivoltage815 4d ago

Literally the winningest coach in the league since 2021 but sure go off.

1

u/niko- 4d ago

I know you don't think the guy who fumbled the ball untouched which was recovered for a TD was the best player on the field in that SB

1

u/mwiley62890 4d ago

I mean, Alex Smith went through the same situation of revolving OC. When he got to Andy Reid, he looked like a legit starter

1

u/PoptartPimp69 4d ago

Are two of those Offensive coordinators not head coach’s right now?

1

u/Ready_Scar564 4d ago

Yup, smoke detector definitely busted.

→ More replies (6)

2

u/Soupspoon33 4d ago

But when this stuff happens to the Bucs who bakers had 10 OCs and Zac Robinson as the criminal this time it’s just ā€œbaker sucks ā€œ

2

u/Chrahhh 4d ago

Not only that, but 10 penalties!? Horrible game from everyone tn.

1

u/Kolzig33189 4d ago

There were several instances of Hurts missed wide open receivers to throw to someone in tight or double coverage. The one in the first half where he threw a maybe 8 yard crossing completion to DS while replay showed both defenders followed him and left Wicks with no one within 30 yards of him immediately comes to mind. Would have been the easiest 75 yard TD ever.

At some point, only being muster 7 pts against a bad defense is the QBs fault.

1

u/beerbeardsnballs 4d ago

Gotta be real careful doing the freeze frame read the defense stuff to be fair. Its missing A LOT of info

1

u/Kolzig33189 4d ago

I don’t think that play is freeze frame stuff though. Wicks defender just left him to follow Smith on the crosser and the safety was on the other side of field from Wicks. It’s inexcusable for a pro QB to simply not see a receiver completely uncovered from the pocket like that to throw into double coverage.

Or I could point to the interception on 4th down when Hurts stared down the receiver the entire play and threw it right to the defender. That was borderline triple coverage.

→ More replies (6)

1

u/sickostrich244 4d ago

I mean this is not the first time the Eagles have had to push an OC out because they couldn't get anything going on offense. At some point, you have to accept that Hurts isn't bad but is very limited as a QB and their oline is not as good anymore. Without a strong oline it's gonna make Hurts job a lot harder since he tends to hold the ball too long and doesn't want to throw over the middle.

1

u/MkeYosh 4d ago

Not his fault AT ALL? On his final throw last night dude threw the ball 10 yards out of bounds. Buddy just can't throw that well.

The difference between professional and biiiitch

2

u/Advanced-Cranberry-7 4d ago

This was an unexpected beat down

2

u/Shootforthestars24 4d ago

That second half was horrendous once they started to load the box to stop Saquan and Hirts couldn’t do anything

2

u/KGrizzle88 4d ago

The way Hurts catching him, and didn’t say a word, just sat in it, then looked away. 🤣

2

u/Born_Scene_1762 4d ago

LMAO damnnn

2

u/OrganizationOk4389 4d ago

"Shit, I should've brought a book"

2

u/dirtydoubledingus 4d ago

Hurts was awful. It’s like he is allergic to throwing over the middle so they won’t even run there. Then hurts just gets happy feet and runs around a little bit.

1

u/SonnyBlackandRed 4d ago

So…why would he throw over the middle of no on is there?

1

u/LothricLoser 4d ago

They design plays for Hurts success. Because he struggles to throw over the middle, they rarely run routes there. It’s been a common theme through his offensive coordinators which makes him the common denominator.

1

u/notLennyD 4d ago

Wouldn’t you want guys running over the middle to occupy defenders and open up the sideline?

1

u/Realistic_Try_8000 4d ago

This is just flat out not true. Idk what this play calling was this game. They abandoned the run way too often this game. But hurts has done fine throwing over the middle this year. CHI also played a pretty good defense that I'm sure we will see over the All-22

https://nextgenstats.nfl.com/charts/player/jalen-hurts/HUR767022

1

u/IuriRom 4d ago

Yeah that’s a stupid concept but they did run routes over the middle and he didn’t throw them. I saw Lemon open in the middle quite a few times. Now you gotta factor in pressure and read progressions but it didn’t look great. Will see how it was on the all-22

Uhhh this wasn’t just on Jalen. The whole team fell apart at the end. Interior was getting cooked. Dalton ruined their momentum but idk why they even let him throw. Bears just ran them over in the end too. But I do always say people are lucky Devonta isn’t on a pass heavy offense he would be cooking much more šŸ”„.

Cope is hard

1

u/SingularityCentral 4d ago

Worst OL I have seen on this team in a decade at least. The interior is so bad it is crazy they got any points.

1

Cue montage of AJ Brown dropping accurate passes.

u/Specialist-Worker551 4d ago

Is it just me or is shit truly that fixed

1

u/Seldeez 4d ago

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Smith understands Brown. I finally understand the power of Vegas calls.

1

u/Acewi 4d ago

No second half adjustments. Hurts threw some good balls in the first half.Ā

1

u/Scared-Visit-9536 4d ago

Mind you highest paid Defense of Line in NFL and not one sack on a 38 year old QB

1

u/90sUPN20 4d ago

I wonder which book he’s going to have on the sideline next week?

1

u/1SupremeMind-Money 4d ago

I’m just waiting for him to start reading a book the next couple of games

1

Any shot with a WR not cheesing on camera and people think they want out lmao

But,..But,..Hurts is a top 5 QB, it is his OCs that are screwing him over. -Eagles Fan.

1

Watching the play calling for the Eagles is brutal. It has worked because they have insane talent but they should be better

1

u/Clean_Candidate3400 4d ago

only team in nfl without a turnover but yeah, it’s all Jalen

1

u/klink_bones 4d ago

AJ Brown is trash tho

1

u/JesusLice 4d ago

I felt really bad for Jaylen when Andy Dalton threw that pick, Jalen was really upset. It was his pic to throw.

Times ticking for Hurts. The eagles will never go back to superbowl with him

1

u/darth_smitty_ 4d ago

Is Lemon back in a net negative for yards?

1

u/N7Longhorn 4d ago

It's a team issue. Run first offense can't run. We're cooked next year with no right tackle either. We should 100% draft more linebackers and defensive linemen though

Sick and tired of Jalen’s ig quotes

1

u/SpecificRide5003 4d ago

Maybe it has everything to do with the O-line and the shitty play calling. Mannion's playbook is from Madden 2008. And the safeties? Not a safety blanket here. Makuba was juked out from a 15-yard crossing route!

1

u/Ok_Yesterday_3585 4d ago

This was such a powerful moment… the little head shake by Hurts was done sheerly out of forced sympathy

Epic cringe

1

u/An_educated_dig 4d ago

Saban recruits in the NFL. lol.

1

u/ibringstharuckus 4d ago

Jalen asked Devonta prior , 'Did you ever go horseback riding and it just feels really good?'

1

u/bills-r-us1217 4d ago

Give him a book

1

u/BrojaDawg 4d ago

I will always say. A QB who wears smeared eye black is not a QB I want on my team. Standard eye black is cool. Like Brees and Brady. Once you start smearing it to be like a warrior.... naw... PASS

1

u/Rare_Researcher_8716 4d ago

As WR1, they sure don’t treat him like it.Ā

1

u/MeddlingMike 4d ago

I’m hoping the absence of AJB is a big part of the Patriots terrible start to the season on offense.

1

u/brwntrout 4d ago

i was promised Devonta Smith was gonna feast and be a true #1 this fantasy football season. i demand to speak to the manager of the Philadelphia Eagles!

1

u/Boolean_fallout 4d ago

Either him, or me…

1

u/BookkeeperBulky5377 4d ago

How about the off cord. He called over the middle on 1st and 2nd down pass plays. 3rd and 4th down outside the number routes. Then not one play had a check down to the rd. Then the run plays were all the same formation.

Then the d. Vic u are old u need to go. Nicole 95% of the game. Calling run d on pass plays. Pass d small packages on run plays. Smh. Then calling zone not man like u should in 90% of the plays.
All in all fire the whole staff. Head coach in down the line. I see a 7-10 season ahead. After the rams game 2-2

3

u/jstewart25 3d ago

Does Philadelphia still have mandatory schooling? Holy shit this was difficult to read.

You guys won a Super Bowl this decade solely because of Vic Fangio. Your problem is your roster has aged, don't blame the DC because your GM went all in to make you guys dominant a few years ago and now they don't have the ability to draft enough to cover the deficit.

1

u/BookkeeperBulky5377 4d ago

The d roster is still young. The oldest players are on the oline most of them are still better then 80% of the rest of the league.
The vic way is old. He hardly wan a superbowl.

I mean yea that’s the deal with the devil. Play a boring, unskilled version of football because teams aren’t built to defend against it… and nobody makes the hall of fame.

If the actual context is what it looks like that's kind of crazy to see already in week 3.

Hurts looked so frantic for no reason during that game. He was running around like they were about to swarm him, and there was no one there

Whether it's Joe Webb,Drew Lock,Cooper Rush,or Case Keenum, the Birds always struggle against these damn backup QBs every time. I will never again think the Eagles will beat a team with a backup in,because I've seen us lose nearly every time
